Apparently Christensen to Lions for the same pick Lions got from GWS for trading Patful.
Great steal Lions.
Absolute crock of ****. Ship him off to west coast instead or trade for the first pick in the preseason draft. Club needs to play hardball. Word is that Trengrove is linked to Richmond for their first pick, and Christensen is at least twice the player. So ****ed off with the **** weak effort of the club at the trade table.

Yeah, if I was a Cats supporter I'd be pretty peeved off to say the least.

The sort of club they will look like with this deal will be worth quite a bit IMO. They appear to care about the welfare of their players, makes them an appealing club to go to.

Collingwood on the other hand.....

We've done that for years. Doesn't mean we should get royally screwed in the process.

Why are Geelong supporters angry? Christensen only played 8 games this year, never played close to a full season (16, 18, 18, 8 games) and he wanted to leave as far as i know. He was taken at pick 40 in 2009 and from what i can tell, Geelong were more than happy to let him go for pick 21.

Everyone seems to have won if you ask me. Lions got a player they wanted, Geelong got a draft pick they were happy with and Christensen was happy to go to the Lions... Win, win and win.

Does not look like you watched Christensen play. Stats don't always show the entire picture. He is worth way more than pick 21.Short of Selwood and maybe Menzel he had the best upside of all players on their list. Now he is gone for not even a first round pick. Geelong losing big time.

I've watched him enough to know he is a possible gun in a couple years, but not all possible guns are worth a first round draft pick when they get traded. If this was last year i would probably agree but you're only as good as your last knock. 8 games this year with 2 previous back surgeries at only 23 years old. The Lions may be the ones who come out behind if his injury holds him back. Maybe Geelong don't see Christensen as worth the risk when it comes to his injury.

Well that is the thing about these trades. It is all down to opinion of worth and none of us can know for sure. It is an interesting idea of only good as your last game. I don't subscribe to it but I understand others do. Anyway, yeah, I certainly feel for Geelong fans that are angry. I understand fully why they are. However like all football fan groups there will be some Geelong fans that don't value him as highly. It is actually the fun of fantasy footy keeper leagues. You back your own opinion and trade the way you like. But for our real footy teams we sit on sidelines either jumping for joy or horrified on what we see as either pure genuis or utter foolishness by our club list managers.

Whats the deal with Sydney's C.O.L.A and not being able to trade. I must of missed something here.
While I don't agree with there cost of living allowance, Sydney are only playing by the rules that the AFL set them.
If there players already have contracts, I don't understand how the AFL can say stop the allowance now or don't trade, when the AFL set the rules for them in the first place.
Not good for Membery.
Why? He's going out of Sydney, not into the club. Wont affect those leaving.

...and Geelong must rate him as Pick 21. Anyway, may not be a straight swap, never know with these things until their official. Silly season any old rumour gets mentioned and then it's doing the rounds so much it seems matter-of-fact. Can't remember an off-season like it. May have to do with the quality of players though (and damn FA).

Would think Trengove would be lucky to av 85 or above BUT teams seem to target cotchin/lids and let the others run around as they please. Seeing miles and co av pretty good maybe low 200k for an av of 80 (thow in the odd ton) not so bad for a m5/m6. Any chance of dpp?

I am tempted to have a punt on him if he has a solid pre-season :)

"It's been revealed by the AFL website that Brisbane called off the Dayne Beams trade at the 11th hour on Friday, before Collingwood's 5pm deadline.

The Pies revealed that after the Lions declined a direct trade for picks 5, 21 and 25 for Beams and pick 30, Collingwood had engaged a five-club mega trade, which also the Lions knocked back.

The monster trade would have seen Beams and Allen Christensen end up at the Lions, Levi Greenwood and Travis Varcoe join Collingwood, Mitch Clark join Geelong, Heritier Lumumba join Melbourne and second- and third-round picks exchanged between North Melbourne and the other four clubs.

The deal had been ticked off by four of the five clubs, with Brisbane turning their nose up late Friday afternoon.

The deal is still a chance however go through, as the Lions will be running a medical screening on Christensen over the weekend."

I have no idea why Brisbane would reject that trade...

Yeah saw that, would have been some sort of 5 team trade!! Brisbane the only team to decline.

Here's a statement from Brisbane... "I think Collingwood has to make the call, it's as good as we possibly can do, if not we got to the draft and build the football club"
