Talls you pick for at least 2-3 years down the track. With Cloke 28 and White a spud, there's every possibility Collingwood think they need another to develop. It could also mean Moore works on his defensive side a bit more to be versatile, and Witts/Grundy are focused more on being rucks, with Wright in the forward line. A lot of height can work, it'd be a similar setup to what's at Hawthorn now.

Gold Coast? Wright would be a massive upgrade on potential rookie-listed Preuss and there's only about 4 others who can play KPF; Nichols, Smith and Gorringe can't.

West Coast need someone to replace Glass and Cox on the list, so there's a spot for a tall there. There's no one under 22 there next season in that KPF/R range so list-wise it could work.

As for Geelong who knows what they want. Reliant on getting mystery-box Clark in to help Hawkins it could backfire and he's not exactly a spritely youngster. The rest are either spuds, constantly injured or more likely to go back, where there's a pressing need too (thus the Goddard talk).

Which leaves GWS who are already getting Finlayson with Cameron, Patton, Tomlinson, McCarthy with other plenty of rucks. So I think there's a case for most of the other teams needing Wright before him.

That is all assuming that "BPA" is out of the equation.

Wow, Murdoch is 190cm! He doesn't play tall at all. Stanley played most of last season as a defender didn't he? I wouldn't be surprised if he's utlilised there more, especially considering Lonergan and Rivers aren't going to be around for much longer. Going tall and getting Durdin and Goddard would make sense too.
I agree with what your saying about Collingwood, but there's just far more pressing needs in other areas of the ground at the moment.

Gold Coast is a great point too but I think there's closer to 6 than 4 who can play KPF: Day, Dixon, Gorringe, Josh Hall, Lynch and May. With regards to Gorrringe, Port said they didn't chase him as they saw him more as a forward than a ruck, I don't really see it that way though. They no doubt could take Wright though.

Fraser McInnes and Simon Tunbridge are two KPFs under 22 at West Coast, not to mention Darling, Lycett and McGovern will be 22. West Coast are going all out for a quality mid with this pick. JJK still at a good age too.

If Geelong go tall it's more likely to be a defender I feel, but they could definitely take Wright as best available.

I know right! Murdoch is a lot taller than he seems, shocked me when I found out too. Nah, Stanley played up forward all year! His best game of the year was in the upset win over Freo when he collected 19 disposals, 14 marks (3 contested), 13 hitouts and 3 goals and had something like 145 SC for his efforts. Pretty sure 2013 was when the Saints were grooming him as a defender. It didn't really work so I'm not sure if Geelong will consider doing that.

More pressing needs isn't the same as no need though. ;) So if he is available he's still able to fill a role in all those teams lists.

You're right about West Coast but gosh those two are uninspiring and not going to agree that Gorringe is suddenly a forward now :p Don't rate Hall either and really if Wright is at GC he'd be behind Dixon only. May down back and Lynch/Day as normal KPFs. Cupboard bare if Hall is only back up.

As for Stanley, guess I didn't watch enough Saints games this year. I'd assume then that Geelong are going to groom him as a defender too because his trade doesn't make much sense otherwise.

Where did you blokes find all your info for these players? Time to start my research and my normal site has been shut down over the summer so I'm at a bit of a loss where to look.

The draft machine on the AFL website is the best place to start. Contains highlight reels of just about every draft prospect and a short little summary. http://www.afl.com.au/draft/draft-machine

Emma Quayle has also done a whole lot of draft profiles over on The Age website: http://www.theage.com.au/afl/afl-news/afl-draft-news-emma-quayle-profiles-100-potential-draftees-20141006-10qsxp.html

Knightmare over on BigFooty is amazing. The amount of time and research he puts into his threads is unbelievable. The current thread is the third of the year and the total views of them all put together is closing on 1 million. Highly recommend checking his work out. First post is his phantom draft and further down the first page he has very detailed bios of quite a few prospects. He'll most likely have the information you're looking for: http://www.bigfooty.com/forum/threads/knightmare-2014-phantom-draft.1081319/

Yeah KM on BF's phantom is one of the best. Like the others there too. Although I find it funny now how they start chopping and changing them, and suddenly hyping up different players despite the season finishing a couple of months ago. And the egos too :D

Which is why Quayle will always be the best to read. Combined with her articles too, they're all top notch.

He's done it for the last few years, he has the aim of becoming a recruiting manager for an AFL side. Definitely deserves to be one considering the amount of work he does for it just as a hobby. Best phantom draft you'll find on the draft in terms of information on players. He also updates the order of his phantom draft quite regularly as he hears news coming from the media and other inside sources.

I doubt I'll even get half right however, expecting a couple of surprises to completely throw the order out. Late mail is that Nakia Cockatoo is firming for Geelong at pick 10 and that Caleb Marchbank might be taken by the Giants at pick 6 or 7.

Very happy with Cockatoo. Him or Brayshaw were what needed :)

Durdin slipping to the Roos at 16 is a bit of a surprise, from everything i was reading he was looking like a top 10 pick, could be great for us supercoachers being that bit cheaper!

Sounds like we've done well to grab Laverde at 20. Possible top 5 pick at one stage i'm reading.

Also, my mate's younger bro got taken at 33 and will be running around in the yellow and black in years to come, which is great news.

Hawthorn
17. Essendon - Kyle Langford - $137,300 (FWD/maybe DEF/maybe MID)
19. Carlton - Blaine Boekhorst - $127,300 (MID)
20. Essendon - Jayden Laverde - $122,300 (MID/maybe DEF)

Think these guys are all big chances to get some game time, especially the two Bombers boys who were rated very highly.

Certainly a great chance those two Bombers will get plenty of games. Somebody eligible has to take the field for that club.

Certainly a chance both may get some games.
But there will be 45 eligible players to choose from.

Anyone see that thing about the Carlton rookie tweeting something last year about Carlton only kicking 1 goal in 3 qtrs...to now being traded by them this year. You couldn't have scripted it any better lol
