While Lids Martin and Maric all seem like good ideas, I'm going to have to strongly disagree with Cotchin. Cotchin is the AFL's second most overrated player in the AFL a mile behind Luke Hodge (Great Leader, Good player. Not a champion player by any stretch, don't even get me started.
Cotchin on the other hand has the least damaging disposal I reckon I have ever seen from a midfeilder. 15-25m kicks to uncontested player seem to all he is good for. He can't cop a tag, and only beats up on ****house teams. Please I urge you, do not do it, it will only lead to pain and sorrow.
Love it.
Bit harsh on Hodge.

Hi all ,
Can you all give me some feedback on a couple of defenders , Gary Rohan (13 games 2014) will he be a good cheap pick in defence and Tom Langdon worth a thought or not , was a good scorer early last year.
Keep up the good work guys it's fantastic getting all the info and knowledge from everyone to consider.
Rohan is a 'deer in the headlights' downhill skier, needs vast confidence improvement, Langdon, 2nd year player..no.

If you want a real POD, I reckon Ollie Wines is on the Selwood path to premiumhood.

Ward capable of averaging 115-120? I think he's overpriced tbh

Just because he spiked last year and before that he was fairly mediocre. You could argue that as GWS mature and win more often their slice of the sc pie, and Wards average, may increase. However, the younger fleet of mids like Greene, Shiel, Treloar have plenty more upside IMO. Just a big price to pay for a guy when he's had one decent year and blokes like Sloane, Danger and Cotchin are in that range or cheaper. Much more proven commodities.

Wines versus O'Meara? Cannot split these two! Both will likely become super premiums in time, but can they achieve that in just their 3 rd season ? If so, whom? Both would be PODs.

I agree it's a speculative investment. It's easy to get seduced by Ablett's and Pendlebury's but it's very hard for a teams no.1 mid to stay above 110. It's possible that Sloane, Danger and Cotchin have all had a spike year. I guess by picking a no.1 mid who's priced to average 105 he is unlikely to drop further so less risk.
I won't be picking Ward but I do think he can maintain his average. I think he had a good year but wouldn't say that he had a great year and therefore I think he can improve. His scores weren't affected by Mumford not playing or the other mids and he was already the number 1 mid so he wasn't hiding behind a team mate like Murphy behind Judd, Liberatore behind Griffen, Jack Steven behind Dal Santo. He is an upgrade target for me but I wouldn't be surprised if he stays out of reach.

I'd love to start both these blokes this year as they have room to move with their time on ground and their scoring per time on ground is already pretty good. But Ollie Wines average against his first 5 opponents from this year was only 94 and O'Meara has missed a lot of preseason already with his knees. Just bad timing for me but they both look like future locks. M5 for me will depend on how many cheap rookies are playing round 1. I've got a list of candidates depending on how much money is available and which other lines I need to spend money on. At the moment it is:
JPK
Barlow
Boak
Griffen
Neale
Caddy.

My preference is for a keeper, I don't think the bottom 4 are keepers, but they might just fill a gap with better scoring and job security than a rookie.

Well said mate.
To me, the only time I won't look for value first is when considering the 2 super premiums to utilise for vc/c loopholing purposes. It has been shown over the years that aside from GAJ, Pendlebury and Selwood that players who average 110+ one season almost universally have a downward correction the following season. For that reason, I cannot buy into Ward at the start. I think it is more likely that he averages 105 for next season than 119 and so I a prepared to sit on the fence and see how he goes. The same applies for Rocky and Fyfe, both superb players but history says both are likely to drop their averages this year than to hold or better them. The only reason I would consider them is if I sense GAJ or Pendlebury is vulnerable as then value becomes secondary to them being #1/#2 scorers in the comp for loopholing. Since Ward is highly unlikely to be top 2 next year I need to see the value and to me I would rather pass than commit.

Wow, a few PODs there! I don't have the balls to do that kind of thing haha.
What do you predict for Fyfe's output this year? As a footy watcher he strikes me as the 'next Ablett'.....but I doubt I will have the guts to pay his starting price.

I love watching Fyfe play and I think he can be the best impact player in the AFL (might be already) but I don't think he will reach the supercoach heights of Gaz. Different type of player and he has to share the midfield with too many others at the moment. He can win games and have some big scores but he doesn't get enough possessions to consistently post big scores. When I go to a Fremantle game Ross likes to have a loose player across the half back line at centre bounces and it will be a different player each time. Mundy, Mzungu, Pearce, Hill, Fyfe etc. Good coaching but like Alastair Clarkson at Hawthorn, not much good for us supercoachers.

I think Fyfe is overpriced and he will be an upgrade target for me. Don't let your man crush ruin your supercoach!! :)

Is anyone contemplating T Lynch from GCS. I know with all the M/Fs it might be a bad idea, but I really like him?

Solid option, however, will you be picking him knowing that Walker/Cloke are considerably cheaper and have equally as good draws? Maybe gold coast's emergence will help T Lynch reach the next level?

Collingwood has the easiest draw in the league for 2015, especially prior to the byes. If Collingwood wants anything to do with the finals, they must win all the early games, and Cloke firing has to be a given, but u know, its cloke, he's probably get these 30-40 scores like lsat year

Does he need that many possessions to score well? Seems like a prototypical supercoach player who can score big from 25 possesions. Had only one game in the 2014 H&A season under 100 in a game where he copped a knock to the ankle.

I see that as a positive for Fyfe. He is so impactful with the possessions he has that he only needs to gather a couple more per game to potentially score on an Ablett-like level. I try to be as rational as possible with SC but he has rare X-factor which is hard to ignore.
