Ruck Coverage Strategy

Just had a read through the previous posts on the topic. I hold my hands and say I'm a relative SC strategy novice but the more research I do about the ruck this year the more I keep coming back to the same idea... I'm think I'm going to take a gamble here and start with NicNat and TBC, R1 & R2. I plan on having Read or O'Brien as rookie R3 and not having any DPP cover up front either. Is this total madness? WellI just don't see the benefit of starting with one of the premo rucks with the new scoring system. I'm thinking that most players value may decline from this and the money can be spent better elsewhere. Assuming NN is in decent physical shape come round 1, and its far from certain, its a risk for the opening half dozen games or so. By then I'd be looking to upgrade anyway, hopefully making a little cash from TBC on the way. I can't understand putting Bellchambers in a forward spot with the other quality options available.

I think it's a very valid way to go about it. The forward line seems to have very good premiums and some very nice rookies as well. Anything in between could be pointless as long as your rucks don't get injured early. I have not had any interest in TBC all pre-season and still don't, too injury prone and in my opinion he's not even Esssendon's best ruckman. If Nic Nat doesn't get up for round one and is confirmed out for 2 or 3 weeks i think Lycett becomes very relevant.
I'm thinking along similar lines. My plan at the moment 
is to lock in a solid R1 like Goldy, a r/f R3 (O'Brien or Read) and a r/f R2 (Lycett if NN doesn't get up, otherwise TBC) with a view to trading out a forward rookie after the first 4/5 rounds for Kreuzer if he's back or whoever is emerging and roll Lycett/TBC forward to become my F7 eventually which would continue to provide r/f cover. (Slugus was also considering something like this in the Player X v Y thread). Risky for the first few rounds but at least it gives you a chance to see how the RUC scene is panning out and not waste a forward spot.

Anyone considering Blicavs at all? The bloke has improved year on year (as a player) and I am not sure he has reached his full potential as a player. Solid Nab numbers so far considering his TOG. If he ends up playing mainly back I think his TOG could end up at 85 - 90%.

I am strongly considering Mummy as my team looks stronger with him in even though experienced others are staying clear! High risk of missing games or being a late out but has proven he can produce some monster scores - and as GWS midfield keeps improving his hit outs to advantage should be improving. If he gets injured, hopefully he will have a high enough value to swap for another premium. If he is a late out due to general soreness I could minimise risk by having Phillips, Lobb, or Downie as R3 ... So my question is which of those three are looking like being next in line?

I think it may prove unwise to go into the season without some form of reliable ruckcover, it could be the soft underbelly of many. In reality it is a weakness that should be covered in my view. No point having Panzers charging across Russia without winter clothing for the troops, is a long campaign.
