Thoughts on Newton??

Better option than say Clem Smith (on the bench), would play Newton at M7

Just listening to SEN. KB and co getting stuck into Carlton about the Boekhorst pick. They can't believe Carlton would draft a mature age player and not play him, they believe the Boekhorst pick will be shown to be a very poor pick in years to come. Other clubs had Boekhorst listed as a rookie draft option not pick 19.
His form over the NAB cup wasn't great, so there's no point in playing him if he's not in form. It's certainly way too early to be judging the Blues yet on the pick.

It's funny when you consider how many first round picks the Tigers have blown over the years although they have been better lately

Cheers Matt! Not a bad thing i suppose having played in the WAFL although they're modest numbers at the same time.
Checking the highlights real, Smith looks like a 'Mini Me' Byron Pickett :) I'd prefer the full size version.

Bulldogs will take Tom Mitchell and swap for our antique, limited addition, once-in-a-generation 1954 premier trophy.
No problem, we'll swap high flyer Titch for injury prone Libba and a random youngster, say Bontempelli.

No Just looking at stats. And how he performed in a relatively full team compared to a depleted one.

Although I know nothing about him as a player I reckon Jack Sinclair looks a decent option. Missed the first NAB (not sure why) and played the next two games.

$129,400 MID
SC TOG Sc/TOG
51.5 0.54 95.4

Not a bad Bench Option

Also If i was going three forward rookies I reckon Aaron Young could be a decent option IF he avoids the sub vest (Big If). 135 Sc/TOG in NAB
Last year he averaged 84 Sc/100%TOG and went on to average 105 SC/TOG last year. But only averaged 64 in full matches with an average TOG of only 69% in those 6 matches.

In fact his SC TOG in NAB Vs Seasons read.

. Year NAB SC
2015 : 135 ???
2014 : 84 105
2013 : 129 140
2012 : 41* 76

*NAB average as no TOG stats were available.

I think Newton is a safe bet to get games every week and post around that 70 mark. What does concern me from watching the NAB is his tank.

Not at all interested in Smith, but I have gone for a point of difference in Dom Sheed at the same price as Newton. Sheed slightly outperformed Newton in the NAB and has a great tank already and attended the 3rd most bounces for us behind Priddis & Shuey. He also is a known goalkicker. I expect him to have a big year, be best 22 and be our most improved player this season.
