What you think of rioli this year goodie should be hitting prime ?
Yep should have his best year to date in 2013. If you saw yesterdays HS there was an article about him which suggested that losing the GF has really hurt him, and the performance he put in and is really looking for redemption and using it as motivation for 2013.
Could go around 105 but injury has been his downfall in the last couple of seasons and he gets rested near the end of the year if we were set to make finals.

I just keeping thinking of the flip-side being having Mr Floating Donut stopping you from having a player gaining $ on the bench or if needed for a genuine emergency.
But maybe that's more of a concern for those who can't do the last minute swaps and trades if need be.

I'm going for the 'one in the hand is better than 2 in the bush' view, ie points upfront rather than generate cash to try and get a points.

Not concerned with having no valid emergency tho when using the E loophole?

With the Rolling Lockout there is less concern. If I need to use a trade or 2 during the season then so be it.

However, generally, I would swap the Floating Donut with the DPP link to the vulnerable position and the Floating Donut to the less vulnerable situation. Say, I have Floating Donut in the midfield and there is three midfield outs (including the Floating Donut), then I would move Floating Donut to FWD and move Rockliff to midfield.

Thus indirectly you are losing your 4th EMG in 2 positions not your 2nd EMG in 1 position with the latter more riskier. That is why DPP is quite important for cover. Naturally there is a risk.

Neade apparently did well in the preseason game and could be up for selection.
Might need to find a better 'floating donut'

Hi guys. Awesome resource that I just stumbled on here. Kudos

The part that doesn't seem to be highlighted about this strategy is that you need a late playing DPP to switch your floater with. In your example Jay, you used Rockliff. I'm thinking that Sylvia might have just earned the brownie point he needed to get him over the line. Thoughts?

That is a good point, seeing as though Melbourne average to play 7th for the first ten rounds.

I must admit I keep going over and over the pro and cons of the floating donut in my head.

In the last week alone my team has had 1 FD (The usual r/f) to 2 FD's and back and forth, even occasionally had 3 FDs in the side. I have no idea where this will end up come round 1....

Yep I know what you mean, I have spent a fair bit of time today looking at this thread and revising my initial FD plan to accommodate who I want to use the C loophole with. Ironically it comes back to Jake Neade being the best fit for the job atm.

Looks like im giving the floating donut the miss for the start of the season.
I'm willing to sit on Steve Johnson through his suspension in round one which gives me the tasty option of trying Tex Walker in the captain loophole role. Tex vs Essendon, 10 goals and 180sc points surely :)

Posted in another thread - but probably more relevant here..

I have been weighing up the pros and cons of this strategy and knocked up a bit of a spreadsheet to help plan for loophole opportunities.

Basically all you need to do is select your permacaptain's team from the drop-down box at the top and it highlights for you your potential VC and donut options for future rounds, enabling you to pick the best starting floating donut according to your permacaptain's draw.

Once you've selected your floating donut player, enter his team across row 6 and it will firm up your VC options, giving you a selection of teams each round from which you can select a VC

If you're not going to be picking a rookie in your starting squad and are just going to be winging it (like me), for each round once a donut is confirmed (ie. player in your squad suspended, injured or dropped) enter their team name in row 6 above the corresponding round and it will highlight which teams you can select your VC from.

If you download the sheet, you'll note that i've got it set as permacaptain Ablett (GCS) and confirmed donut SJ (GEE) in round 1 - change it to whatever is relevant for your team - therefore VC can be selected from Adelaide, Brisbane, Carlton, Essendon, Fremantle, GWS, Richmond, Sydney, West Coast and Western Bulldogs.

Please let me know if you notice something that's not working correctly and i'll try to fix it (had a few wines while knocking this up so no doubt there's something wrong with it!).

Those looking for a good floating donut (neade is questionable because he looks like getting games) get on Clay Cameron (DEF/FWD 109,500). No friday night games for the suns so should be good as.

What are everyones thoughts on Sam Colquhoun as a floating donut between DEF/MID. Due to the fact that Essendon will play before Port 9/10 times up to round 10, Goddard can be selected as a vice captain a lot of the time. However this will mean that there is no mid/forward dpp and Cox cannot be used as a potential vice captain.

I'm probably going to use Sam Colquhoun
He's not AFL ready so will be lucky to get games this season. Plus his DPP links up with Brett Goodes (rookie) or Hartlett (same team so can be swapped up until port games)

And playing at the same time as perma captain Ablett means that there are more games to choose your VC from. But not sure of the wisdom in starting a floating donut yet. I'm thinking i'll be down grading to them once rookie downgrade options become thin on the ground.

Yeah I think I'm gonna do the same. I think that there will almost always be a player missing anyway who you can take advantage of for the loophole.
