Lambert - showed more scoring potential based on points per minute but only 43% TOG. If injury update is 2-3 weeks then there is a good chance he may not be back for a while given Deledio will be back as well. Lambert offers DPP flex so if injured, unless you want a floating donut, then I would trade him.
Lambert will be out 6 - 8 weeks, as he needs shoulder surgery.

Not wanting to spend the extra coin on him. Although I do agree, he does look a great player.
Yeah, Was only throwing him in there as another real outside option. He basically is too expensive but the others do not excite me either although I already have Lonie.
Would not trade to get him though if was not in my starting squad. Unsure on McGrath so until I seen him play myself I reserve judgement on his value.

I'm only considering McGRath because I have Lamb and LITS mentioned he doubted he'd play 4 games in a row this year. That said, with all the injuries out there, anything could happen!

Hey Jaca if that is your team link then I would hold Lamb. Every year we dump rookies then they come back and play when others who we thought would play a few rounds are rested. E.g. Ambrose last year. If this was my team I'd be looking at fixing Griffen (IMO likely to pump out mixed scores for the rest of the season and Swan (Not the old Swan and if he averages 95 I will be surprised) before the price rises.

Cheers mate, but I took both of those guys knowing where they might end up. Swan will be my F5/6 at years end (and should see plenty of the pies midfield), Griffen... hmm, we'll see.

Just wanted to bring this thread back into everyone's mind. We are all likely to being in 3-4 rookies this week and at least half of them are likely to stay in our team for the rest of the year providing valuable flexibility and bench cover or a gaping donut!!!!!

I have worked out I'll exit the byes with a full team (if injuries and disaster don't strike) and about 5-6 trades left to struggle through the rest of the year so the rookies I bring in seem so important. While most of the rookies I bring in will be playing through the byes I have some flexibility to bring in a donut who I think will play solid games later in the year. Thinking seriously about who may have some real JS for the second half of the year. here are some suggestions for those on the edge of the team that I think have a genuine chance of scoring well in the second half of the year.

Here are 5 names high on my radar....would love to hear the thoughts of others. Will you take whoever is on the bubble through the byes or will you play the long game by trying to pick the best?

Caleb Daniel - He must be getting close and as the young doggies tire and probably have a few more losses in the second half of the year I think he will come into his own. Ball magnet likely to get a few sub games but come SC finals time I can see him owning it!!

Jack Steele - See Caleb Daniel....ditto

Rory Atkins - best kick at the crows apparently and would have debuted by now if it wasn't for injury. I would be surprised if he plays wing or the Matt Jaensch role for the crows in the second half of the year...big watch list for me....as is Riley Knight who is also very AFL ready now and tearing up the SANFL. As a Crows fan I would love to see these 2 in the seniors as they provide the run and ball use the team is lacking.

Shaun Edwards - Seems to me like the Bombers need speed and he has it. They need to play some kids and I would have thought he will get a big run....anyone dare take him over Alex Pearce this week for his potential to stay in the team in the long run....will A Pearce be in the team when Dawson, Silvangi and Johnson are back nearing finals time?? Edwards could be the long game rookie defender bet this week

I know people keep hoping and expecting Jack Steele to get games but the truth is the Giants have serious depth for midfield and flankers types. If Josh Kelly struggles to play and gets subbed with scores like 95 and 98 this year, good luck expecting Steele to get games ahead of likes of Kelly, Hoskin-Elliott etc etc. that can all seriously play and a few years older. I do not think people have really woken up to how good Giants can be, not just in coming years but even this year they are going to win quite a few games and surprise a few people. Even Tom Scully has started to play some decent footy for them. Just find it hard to see Steele getting much more than a small sample of senior footy this year. I'm sure he can make his debut this season but likely to be subbed or vested when it happens. They have a policy to look after their youth. I think it is why Josh Kelly still gets vested even on days he is getting quite a lot of the ball.

Dylan Shiel, Ward, Treloar, Greene, Griffen, Coniglio, Devon Smith, Whitfield, Scully, Hoskin-Elliott and Josh Kelly are all well ahead of Steele in pecking order. He needs a few injuries to get a decent run that can make him relevant to scoring decent himself in SC this year.

I agree with Oz re: Steele. Very hard team to break into this year.

Also have my doubts about Caleb Daniel this year. He was talked up big during the pre-season but there was a patch of games there when injuries made the Dogs desperate for rookies, and they tried a few, and Daniel was never mentioned. Not sure how close he is to the top of the list.

For me it will be C. Byrne. Looked good in his one game as sub then injured. Been listed as 1-2 for about 6 weeks, but is now down to 1. Will probably need a few games in the twos before coming back, but they have no reason not to give him a proper go once he's ready. D/F and looks like he might score OK for a defender rookie.

I'm also considering taking the risk on Edwards this week. It's him, Hamling or Pearce as the playing defensive Rookie to bring in. You'd think Edwards would be the only one to potentially score OK. Pearce might be the safer option though...

On steele and for that matter all the other gws top end draft picks waiting for there chance.

I think its great for the club that there big names are signing for arguably less money than what they'd get on the open market but a part of me would like to see Treloar and co go elsewhere ( hopefully to the pies haha ) so these top end kids get regular games next year.
Due to not playing this year am i correct in saying they'd possibly get a discount next year, therefore be great rookie options in our midfield in 2016.

They'll all play the last 4 games after we've used our trades and be priced at $250k next year.

Steele to me also seems the ideal sub candidate if/when he does get a chance which is heartbreaking :(

Matt Scharenberg for the pies is another one. He's been playing well in the 2s and should get games soon I'd think.
