Should have just left it and rolled with the punches I reckon. Only had three and had cover (crap mind you) but I don't like this changing things on the fly scenario. Opens up a huge can of worms. In my line of work I'm around death a bit so probably a bit hardened by it but sometimes **** happens. Terribly tragic and all but the show needs to go on.

While I would have done it differently the decision has been made now. Way I see it is to try to figure out the best way to take advantage with one's current team. For myself the best advantage I can get is by delaying trades.
Was thinking this myself. I've got 19 playing this week. If i'm tracking ok, i'll probably hold off on trading but if i've got more than 1 really dodgy score, i'll probably trade to avoid while making a couple of corrective trades (ie. SJ).

I really think VS were on a hiding to nothing anyway so they've probably gone with the solution that impacts people the least, and was probably the easiest one for them to implement.

The best 18 certainly helps me in sc cup. Playing a bloke ranked 260 overall and projected scores haf him winning by about 280
I had sj motlop danger and smith as opposed to his danger only so probably would have lost bu 350 plus at least rop 18 gives me a fighting chance. I am desperate for a new vehicl.

No late changes for #AFLPiesHawks.
Jarryd Blair (Magpies) and Matt Suckling (Hawks) the subs.
So both first gamers avoid the green vest. That wouldn't have happened too often I wouldn't have thought.

I worked out there is no advantage for me. With Bennell out, Docherty and now the rest of changes today I have 13 outs. Most will have 18 on field or more so good luck to those that it has helped. The game is a lot about luck we all know this. But you work with others thing you can control. I might have to simply use no trades as I cannot see myself winning in cash league for example. Just checked and playing IDIG. He was dealing with Franklin out and I was dealing with Docherty, Bennell and Sloane all out plus a mid pricer too. He would have had thoughts to trade Stevie J in recent times which can counter me trading Sloane. With Dangerfield, Blicavs and Thurlow out against his Jacobs and rookie Lever I will be down to 17 at this stage.
Making trades that compromise my structure going forward is no advantage long term when I would need some serious help just to get close this round. With Brent Harvey and Watson also possible late outs it would seem the risk of doing trades to give some hope of an unlikely win is just not worth it. I think this round I have to consider I write off in cash league and re-load for next weekend. In a way I am lucky playing IDIG because if lost to a team around me on ladder it would be more like an 8 point match. If I was playing you Phil it would have more impact on my chances going forward to get a finals spot in top 8.
I think I need to look ahead and consider Rockliff and Ablett are on horizon for weeks ahead and with uncertainty on Harley Bennell too I need to hold onto my few trades for weeks they can help me more. Trading this week for me looks like trying to fill in holes that simply cannot all be filled in.

There's more important things in life than SC, we know the answer now and should just embrace it.
This!!!
There are a lot worse things than damage to our SC teams. A way has been chosen by virtual sports for what to do so everyone should decide what is best for their own teams and goals for season going forward.
Just be happy we can breath and communicate to loved ones.

I have Krakouer as emergency... Im assuming i won't get his score now as i have more than 18 on field?
Yes it does work same way.

I will be puttin the E on Boston and McLean and loop them with Selwood or Read if they happen to go big.
Thanks. I have to play one of hamling, brown or Boston and I can loop brown and Boston with Mckenzie and Yeo.
Emergency score can be counted in best 18 if a player in his position scores a 0 like normal
Such a sad weekend, but I think they did a good job with the 18.
This is from the SC App

RIP Phil Walsh horrible news.
In regard to best 18 if I have Oxley on the bench and he scores well can I then put Lever on the field and then Oxley becomes part of best 18 even though not actually on the starting field?
Thanks in advance.

Would love some help. In light of the shocking death of Phillip Walsh (R.I.P.) & the now best 18 onfield scoring system, if i VC Goldstein and he scores well, can i then just have either Selwood or Dangerfield ONFIELD with the C on one of them instead of putting Nic Nat on bench with the E and having Read on the ground with the C? Do i have either option? Thank you.

Yes. It's the same as the last 3 rounds in that regard.

Jon Ralph has stated that Harley Bennell could return to the Suns side as soon as next week to face the Bulldogs after receiving counselling this week

As above

From the HS website:

SuperCoach changes explained in wake of Adelaide Crows-Geelong game cancellation
NEWS CORP AUSTRALIA
JULY 03, 2015 5:13PM

Joel Selwood and Nathan van Berlo compete for the ball.
IN the wake of Phil Walsh’s death, Sunday’s Adelaide-Geelong clash has been cancelled, resulting in changes to SuperCoach Round 14 in-game scoring.

The decision has been made to go back to the top 18 scorers as it was during the bye rounds.

Several popular players will be unavailable this week and we believe this is the best way to reduce the impact.

Below is the rules for the bye rounds, as explained in the game’s terms and conditions, which will apply for this week.

In rounds 11, 12 and 13, a participant’s score for the round will only be based on the scores of the 18 highest scoring players of their selected starting 22 players (including any emergencies which replace those players). Participants will still be required to select 22 starting players in rounds 11, 12 and 13, and if there are more than 18 scoring payers in their selected 22 players, only the scores of the top 18 scoring players be used to calculate the participant’s score for that round.
Good Luck.

The media focus has certainly shifted. His issue has certainly paled into insignificance.

How lucky are you Oz that instead of the Ade/Gee players scoring 0 like many on here wanted they decided to go down the best 18 path!!!!

You have essentially saved 4 donuts compared to others who could field a full 22! 4 donuts, that's like 400 points.

You really have advanted quite well from the Best 18 decision. I and many others could have made a massive leap over you if it remained the 22.

So chin up, luck has taken a huge turn in your favour!!!!!
