Hi Juzzo,
yes, that seems like madness to me. I wouldn't do it. You don't have enough JS in your team to go down to one trade and justify going CEY to Rocky. I'd hold off for now.
Thanks Row, will hold off.

hi row

welcome back mate!!

I was wondering if I could pick you brain regarding playing money leagues. I currently have 11 trades left and after this round I will have one upgrade to go which is a defender. once I have a full premium team I will have approx. 7- 8 trades left. i will have selwood as my weakest midfielder and potentially i will bring in ablett for him or rocky or an injured player.

ideally i would love bench cover other than my rookies ie. steel, hamling, lambert and co. however if i am to obtain bench cover then i wont have many trades left for finals. my goal is to have a good forward/mid bench cover such as a lids or dollhouse and use a floating donut due to i don't trust buddy to score well in the finals. however i was wondering is it best to aim for bench cover when playing leagues or should i save my trades and use them if players are underperforming or getting injuried? now until finals is so critical with trades and i don't want to be using them for no reason or having none left if players get injuried.

Thanks for your help

Hi ad,
sorry, I forgot I had that pm sitting there.
Having trades is the next best thing to having cover, and having trades in the finals is very important for league players.
Generally, I would use a slow bench upgrade program. Take your time, and if your cows are mooing enough, get your Lids/Dahlhaus type players, rather than getting those mid-price type players. This isn't possible for everyone, but you are in a pretty strong position trade-wise, and cow-wise, so you should take advantage of it. Stretch your Rounds without trading, and cash cows potential for growth as much as you can, and be patient. After you have made your last upgrade, take the extra week if necessary, before strengthening your bench, if that is going to get you a player at the next level.
If you think you need to trade in the interim, to win an important league match, to secure that all important top 4 spot, then obviously do that, but outside of that, be very protective of those trades, and have them there if required, but as we get closer to the finals, use them. No use sitting on more trades than you can mathematically use, if the potential for bench strengthening is there.

Hey Rowsus,

Trading Cripps and tossing up between Beams and Hanneberry.
Hanneberry:
Been tagged in Rounds 2,6,7,9,11 by Cornes, Cross, Guthrie, Curnow and Jacobs scoring 91, 86, 111, 96, 98 (also copped a heavy corky)
Average 96.4.
All tagged games an tagger as mentioned by Fan Footy. May have been tagged in other rounds but did not check fan footy (from memory they did not & doubtful those teams would tag.)

Let Loose in all 8 other rounds to average 132.25 (Fyfe like).

Bris, Haw, WC, Ade, Gee, Coll, Gws, Saints, GC
Bold indicates the team have a tagger. Robinson, Selwood (unfit), Guthrie (scored 111 last time), Weller.
Not to mention they may not look to tag Hanneberry over say JPK.

Beams
Super consistant, hasn't dropped below the tonne since R3 but has had a lot of low 100 games. Averaged 121 in this time.
Scored over 115 only 5 times but for 138, 141, 144, 127 and 126.
Has the slight risk of Rocky upsetting things but I doubt it.

I'm thinking Hanneberry as he has greater upside. Dominated without the tag. Tagging Hanneberry only stops one of their 5 elite midfeilders.
Also my other trade will be to Gary or if I think is better the other of these two. Hanneberry more likely to become unreachable.
However I'm worried because I already have: JPK, Parker, Mitchell, Franklin.
Is 5 Sydney's too much??

Hey McC,
I think outside of Fyfe, and depending on what Ablett/Rockliff do on return to proper match fitness, Hannebery/Beams are the 2 best scorers to have. I think Beams might shade Hannebery for average, but Beams is also more likely to miss games. Either are very good picks.
I wouldn't let Hannebery being your Fifth Swan stop you from getting him. Firstly, he will in all likelihood be the highest scoring of those five players, so bringing him in shouldn't be seen as Swan-crowding. Secondly, there is nothing to say that all five can't score at a more than good SC standard from here, but just that it makes it that little bit tougher to have that one off, one out the box, freak weeekly score. If you have faith Beams can get through to the end of the season unscathed, go him. If you are a bit iffy on it, go Hannes. Of the five Swans you'd have, he appears to be the purest Mid of them all anyway, with the others all spending more time up Forward than him most games anyway.
Good luck, I hope you jump the right way.

After doing my final upgrade this week I will have basically $0 in the kitty. It makes me nervous when I see a bank balance like that. Should I lower my eyes and hit up a greatly undervalued Rocky or go long to Hanners in the goal square?

Hi Rowsus, can't believe I'm asking this but who would you choose as captain this week between Fyfe and Goldy?
Thanks :D
Hey MMM,
after VC'ing Pendles last night, I am left with the same choice.

Fyfe v Haw:
105, 103, 107 (GF), 110, 124 - not awe inspiring. Bold = win, Under = Aurora

Highest scores conceded by Hawthorn this season:
Rnd 14 Coll - 184, 114, 107
Rnd 13 Ess - 114, 106, 102
Rnd 12 Ade - 117, 114, 113
Rnd 10 StK - 128, 124, 119
Rnd 9 GC - 109, 107, 100
Rnd 8 Syd - 138, 124, 109
Outside of Pendles freakish score last week, only 2 other good Captain scores (125+) against them in the last 6 Rounds.

Goldy v Geel
154, 168 (SF), 133, 74, 82, 105 Bold = win, Under = ES

Rucks v Geel this season:
Rnd 13, Rnd 14 Geelong DNP
Rnd 12 - Melb - 146, 67
Rnd 11 - Port - 80
Rnd 10 - Ess - 39
Rnd 9 - WC - 152, 105
Rnd 8 - Carl - 70
While some of these scores seem low, they are TBC, Warnock and an out of form Lobbe.

It's a close call, but I think i'm going to go Goldy.
His last 5 scores are all "Captain-worthy" scores: 149, 154, 136, 128, 134 and he has 2 other 154's, and one of those was against Geelong.
He beats up on Rucks that don't tap well, and unless Simpson can recapture his form from a couple of years ago, then Goldy should be ok, I hope!

Thanks for the insights mate, makes me feel much better having the statistician share the same captain as me ;)

Hi Rowsus, do you see Houli or Bob Murphy going better from here on in?
Hi jaca,
sorry for the (too) late reply.
I would have said not much between them, but maybe Houli, just.
Not looking tremendous so far tonight though.

Hey Rowsus do you think having all of JPK, Parker and Hannebery in your mids is too many swans? Note i also have Buddy and Mitchell too. Cheers

Hi Rowsus,

Hope you had a good weekend, in SC and on the punt??

Quick one, i have 5 trades left and need to trade Cripps.
Should i a/ trade him straight to Rocky and keep 4 in the bank just in case.
or b/ trade him and Boston to Gaz/Maynard, leaving me 3 trades but another DPP in the mids (with questionable JS perhaps?)

i'm thinking straight to Rocky, have to deal with Selwood if he misses but have a couple to cover him in Lumumba/Lambert.

Thanks mate, have a ripping week and enjoy your night with the SCS crew!

Hey mate, hope all is well
just wondering what your thoughts on this are
Pearce - Maynard and Amon - Daniel
leaves 3 trades and 172k in the bank
next week i will go Selwood - Gaz or Rocky
but im thinking i will skip Gaz (Massive risk) and go Selwood and Tich - Rocky and Deledio
this means 1 more trade
or i can go Selwood - Rocky and Pearce - Maynard. this also opens a dpp with Mckenzie
love any thoughts
thanks mate

Gday Rowsus.

Hope your enjoying the lovely Melbourne weather!! Unfortunately I can't get to Melbourne for the game. Would have liked to catch up with all the SCS members kicking my butt this year.

Hoping you get a bit of time to answer a question which seems popular this week. Is Gaz worth it? I can get him with 1 trade, Wallis to Gaz. I will have 4 trades left which I am inclined to sit on even though I probably need 1 more mid.

Cheers.

Hey Rowsus, hope you are njoying your time back in sunning melb!

Like everyone it seems this week, I too am having a bit of trouble whether to get gaz or not. Last week I worked my trades so I could go Lonie to gaz in one hit, but the former decided to score half his projected and the latter scored like he had played every game this year. This left me short by $3,000!

Now I could always go Lonie/Nelson to Gaz/Knight. This would open up D/M and F/M links and leave me with 5 trades for the rest of the year.
Or I could go Lonie to Danger. This would leave me with 6 trades but only a D/M link.

My question is what is more important; all positions linked and gaz or only one positon linked to mids, an extra trade and danger instead of gaz?

Thanks in advance mate
