Not really supercoach relevant but brought a smile to my face getting my personal (recorded) phone call today from Jack Silvagni telling me of his love for the club over about 18 years and asking me to renew my membership to go into a draw for a signed Guernsey with him SOS and Serges signatures, also got me wondering if Andrew Walker might have some subtle (or maybe not so subtle) pressure on to give up the number one guernsey.
Today I have had two Essendon FC PR people knock at my door and hand deliver a thankyou card from Jobe Watson. (Computer printed with a generic message for everyone, but it's the thought that counts). They have been at it for a while around Australia trying trying to do the same for as many members as they can, and have given free merchandise to some of the families in very rural areas.

A stat for you after Tuesday nights draft blue dreamer.

1970 premiership team included Sergio Silvagni and David McKay.
1995 premiership team included Steve Silvagni and Andrew McKay.
Tuesday night you recruit Jack Silvagni and Harry McKay.

A handy omen for you, but quietly hoping history doesn't repeat itself for 2020. haha.
BTW : I think Carlton did a good job with there draft picks, some handy players there.

Harley Balic has been offered $70,000 by his distraught parents to turn his back on the Dockers and remain in Melbourne according to the Leader.
"After his selection (at pick 38) he went off to do some media with Fremantle. When he returned he saw his dad on the phone in tears. He said he would pay him $70,000 to stay in Melbourne. Later, as the family gathered for a dinner with Dockers officials, his mother’s eyes were red as she arrived in the foyer."

That's unusual. I wonder if its possible for someone to "refuse" to be drafted or back out after the Draft? If so, what would be the implications for Freo?

I think I know why he slipped to pick 38. That is insane by his family.

Jesus, well done family.
they should move with him, surely that makes more sense?!
Like why wasn't this made known to clubs when they would've had their pre-draft meetings. I doubt Freo would have drafted him without having some form of contact and discussion prior, and surely that would've been the first question. How do you and your family feel about moving interstate??

I tell you what, I'd be rather peeved off if mum and dad hadn't mentioned anything prior to the draft, and then all of the sudden did this after being drafted interstate.

Brisbane's Lewis Taylor has landed himself in hot water after being charged over an alleged $10,000 crime spree.
Police have charged the 2014 Rising Star winner over a criminal rampage they say saw eight cars smashed up with a stolen seat belt buckle in October last year.

He had to decide between Basketball and Football. God forbid he might have ended up at the LA Lakers!

Who do we think did the best in the draft?

Call me biased but I think we did the best. Weitering, Mckay, Curnow, Cunningham and Silvagni.
Weitering was the clear best player in the draft, Mckay is 200cm tall and a absolute gun, Curnow was rated the #2 tall in the draft and I'm supprised he slipped to 12, Cunningham is a jet and Silvagni.... All you need to do is look at his name. Hopefully he can bulk up a bit and ill be happy if he is half as good as his dad.

After us I think Bombers are pretty close behind us

That is biased!!!

Nah, Carlton definitely drafted well, but they had the selections to do it. McKay could be a gun, but needs a full year of VFL before he'll compete at AFL level. Curnow is good, but slipped for disciplinary reasons. He could go one of two ways, the Jack Darling way or the Dayle Garlett way. The others were good selections with the picks you had available. Glad you picked up Matt Wright too. Can come in and play 22 games next year.

I think Freo did the best out of the draft though, I don't think they imagined getting Tucker and Balic in the draft but seriously lucked out. Then they added some mature age players to compliment their list. They would have liked a talented tall forward, but the real talent was gone. Also added Harley over the break. They will have an outstanding midfield group, with a pool of talented youngsters coming through too.

Essendon did well, but just made the most of high selections too. I would have like to have seen them pick up at least one young tall forward. Curnow or Weiderman wouldnt have looked out of place with their second selection. Hard to say what pick 29 and 30 will be like in a shallow draft. Time will tell.

I'm glad Carlton fans are feeling better though. Never good when it all feels low. It will be interesting to see your best 22 come round 1.

Freo have definitely picked up some players who can make an immediate impact. It appears they have the theory that you take the best young talent in the country, otherwise take a mature age player who has developed in a state league. Don't speculate on an 18 year old who isn't even the best against other 18 year olds. Hawthorn in the 80's had stars across every line but since the draft and the salary cap have come in most premiership teams have half a dozen superstars and the rest are good citizens who play for the team. I've read somewhere about the AFL having a reserves competition. I don't know if this is just a rumour but I like the idea. It is weird that Victoria is the only state where we don't see draft prospects play against men.

Rookie draft going on now. Carlton made a solid selection in Glass-McCasker and Gallucci. Good long term KP back, and a small forward that should be playing next year. One to watch I would think for SC.

I saw that. Not sure what to believe. Ate a balloon by the look of it. Probably thought now that Danger is here, he can sit back and relax.
