Happy New Year everyone!

Thought I would put this one out there that I quite like...

DEF: Shaw, Houli, Bartel, Rich, Brown, M., Byrne, (Brown, M., Hibberd)

MID: Pendlebury, Ablett, Shiel, Rockliff, Liberatore, Kennedy, B., Freeman, Mathieson (Jansen, Morabito, Keays)

RUC: Goldstein, Martin (Wyatt)

FWD: Montagna, Barlow, Harvey, Greene, Kerridge, Petracca (Sumner, Kommer)

A few thoughts:
Shaw over McVeigh as McV not having a full preseason, not sure about Rich/Yeo yet. Paying overs for Shaw but he was awesome last year, could do it again.

Shiel over Selwood. Selwood notorious slow starter has a foot problem. Shiel star in the making perhaps.

Picking the two best ruckman, set and forget.

Montagna is a class mid, starting him. Lids/Martin maybe. Harvey/Barlow cheap for a 100av. Greene X factor. No way Franklin.

Slainte!
Top job here Courtesans !

Great structure. You have your 13 - 14 keepers, the pick of the ruckman, and some handy PODS thrown in also.
I also think that Shiel is set for a massive year.
My only issue (well, not really an issue) is with Houli. I've also considered him. Do you think Yarran will effect Houli's scoring at all. Both running players. I'm just a little hesitant with him until I see a few of Richmonds nab cup games.

Great work mate. Good luck.

Looks like 'The Courtesans' will not only raise the bar in 2016...but give it a decent tilt as well!

Great looking team and structure, similar thinking to what I've got set for mine pre-NAB. I currently have 12 of your 15 top tier, not sure whether that's a good thing.

Am just a bit wary of the number of DEF rookies at the moment, but no point in worrying about that until they reveal themselves during the NAB.

hi all

here is my pre-nab cup team which is likely to change from time to time. please dont hold back on my team even if you think i should just hit the delete button..also my rookies are not locked in..

backline:
simo, bartel, yeo, m brown (wce), cordy, hibberd, m brown (ess), hanley

midfield:
ablett, pendels, priddis, rockie, libba, trengrove, dale, morabito, viojo-rainbow, freeman, mountford

rucks:
godlie, martin loeresch

fwd:
lids, martin, doll house, bennell, curnow, rioli, paine, petracca

my thinking behind this structure is i have gone lean in defence, as shaw and boyd are priced very high and mcveigh has not started running. personally i dont feel there is good options and i dont want to be paying overs. the aim in the defence is to assess who are the best as we go along in the season. i am confident that i can keep my premiums unless an injury occurs.

Not to bad Adrenaline.
I understand why you have gone lean in your backline but I just think we could be pushing it to find 5 playing rookie defenders that start round 1. (would be great if we could)
You have nailed some excellent keepers in your team.
There is some good value in the fwd line this year, guys like Ben Kennedy. Think I'd be tempted to downgrade one of your fwd prems then add one more defender for a little better team balance.
Hard to nail the right rookies at this stage but we will find them as we get closer to the start of the season.
Only other opinion is that I wouldn't start Loeresch as your R3. I usually use the R3 for the captain loophole but Loeresch wont work as most weeks we will have the VC on Gaz.

Nice start. Good luck.

Structure hasn't changed for a while so I'd say pretty set until we fill our rookies.
25k left, not fussed on rookies yet.

DEF- KK, Bartel, Yeo, Smith, Brown, Byrne (rainbow, Brown)

MID- Ablett, Pendles, Rockliff, JPK, Libba, Blakely, Gresham, Petracca (Sumner,Cunningam,Mathieson)

RUCK- Goldy, Martin (Loersch)

FWD- Martin, Dahlhaus, Barlow, Zorko, Kerridge, Menadue (Apeness, Close)

When I made my very first draft when Gold picker opened I had O'meara/Crouch at M6, by doing this I always found myself with another mid pricer at F4 wasn't happy with that they are out of consideration.

Backing KK/Yeo/Smith to go at least 90ppg. Happy to pay overs in the ruck as I don't feel compromised on any other line.

Great looking structure.
I am not sure about McVeigh as a worth pick however things might change late in February so maybe it's wait an see. I like smith and yeo. I reakon they will do ok.

I really like your mids structure but not a fan of Sloane. I believe he doesn't score as well when they lose and I think they have a tough start. However the wines pick is brilliant.

The rucks are good. If the plan is for Leuy to go in round 7 I think u might pull it off.

Forwards are great. Overall good looking side. I would wait to see how a few players go in late February.

Thanks for your feedback. I can alter the structure either way but your right if there is not enough stand out rookies in the defence I will need to alter the structure slightly. Loresch is my loophole however I will change him.

Thanks for that, currently mcveigh is a spot filler for any defender around that price (such as houli or KK)
I did have sloane in for a while until i was recomended him haha who would you suggest to replace him at around the same price or less?
I plan for Leuy is to replace him around round 7 with someone better haha

it depends on your cash flow..however if here are a few options

1. shiel - expected to a huge year however last year he had a few sub scores
2. wines - same as shiel. i would expect port to be better than last season.
3. priddis - mr consistent. he has killed it the last two seasons. expect eagles to be up there which might help his scoring
4. beams - great player however not as durable. he will miss a couple of games throughout the season but scores well
5. parker - apart from the concussions and knee injury late in the season. he was not bad and showed some really good scoring output.

First attempt at a team with Goldy in it.
Gee it's a lot of coin to part with up front and I still doubt that I'll start him.
Very confused with the rucks this year. Just when I decide that there is no way that I'll start Goldy, my thoughts go straight back to that famous night at Etihad Stadium with the SCS members, and I feel IDIG's pain.

J McVeigh, J Bartel, E Yeo, B Smith, R Harwood, MW Brown.
(R Bonner, M Hibberd.)

S Pendlebury, G Ablett, JP Kennedy, T Rockliff, T Liberatore, B Crouch, B Kennedy, B Fiorini.
(N Freeman, B Keays, R Mathieson.)

T Goldstein, N Naitanui. (M King.)

D Martin, L Dahlhaus, M Barlow, D Wells, S Kerridge, C Petracca.
(H Balic, S Yarran.)

Funds are pretty tight with 1.4k remaining.
Have a feeling KLo30 will see this team, shake his head and have a little chuckle himself.
A brilliant write up KLo and I agree, It is a fine line between pleasure and pain.

Nice team Nathan, with a lot of similar picks to my side. My initial reaction was to compare our two teams side by side as I thought yours might be better, so I guess that's a compliment. You have more keepers, in part because of the GnR focus.

I see you also have a very large number of the players you think will be top scorers on each line (based on the "Predictions" thread), so you've done well to closely match your structure and selections to your expectations.

http://www.supercoachscores.com/threads/2793-2016-Predictions-Top-Averaging-Players-Positions/page2

I think a couple of guys like KK/Dahlhaus/Zorko may have less mid opportunity this year or just regress a bit from a very good year, but given that I know you don't, no specific suggested changes from me.

I think with Gaz, Pendles & Rocky being so affordable that paying for Goldy is fine.

I would look at downgrading hardwood & Crouch to rookies and upgrading your F4 to a Premium.

Happy new year Yakka.

I think the structure of your side looks pretty good. I'd probably look to get a few more solid selections in though.

To me, all of the following players are probably intended as keepers, but are unreliable (either in their scoring, or their ability to get on the park): Mummy, Bennell, Rioli, Cloke and maybe Greene. That's a reasonably expensive R2 and potentially all of your forward keepers.

If you want a similar structure but are open to a change of personnel for a bit more solidity, you could look at NicNat/Sandi/Jacobs in the ruck and guys like Dusty, Boomer, Roughy and maybe Barlow up front, or even Leuey as a value pick to replace Cloke (more injury risk, but greater likelihood of scoring upside in my view). I think finding proven, durable and not overpriced picks in the forward line is fairly tough this year, but you can probably shore up your forwards a fair bit with just a couple of tweaks in personnel.

Keep saying no more till NAB starts....
shielll.gif

Starting to think trying to squeeze 6 in the midfield is my problem.
Having Wines at m6 meant Shaw>KK (Thinking Shaw must get more attention this year), having Bird as my F4 (which i don't mind tbh as it was Green before who the juries still out on) and Priddis>Shiel.
Is squeezing Wines in @ m6 loosing me points is the question.
In a perfect world i count 15 hopefully keeperish scores + bird who could hopefully av 80ish and 6 rookies on field.
Thoughts appreciated.

I was just looking at the analysis by frewho of the 2015 and 2013 winners. Last years winner only had 13 keepers to begin with and DimmaWit in 2013 started with 14 keepers. I've always been of the belief that the more keepers you begin with the less trades required to complete my team. It's really got me thinking about whether this is the prudent approach, and in so doing taking away decisions like forcing in Wines and having Bird. Perhaps it's better to go Premium and rookie. Of interest is that they both started with a 5 Premium midfield and light on in defence.

Yep its interesting indeed. I guess 14 solid keepers and the ability to get any rookie named is limiting the risk of failure with mid price and unproven premiums.
