Is it still possible to bypass the HS through other sites to bypass the subscription parts?
You used to be able to get a lot of the footy stuff on the HS website on the Adelaide Advertiser site before they started charging for it, but it's just part of their overall news+ subscription thing now. You can still view news.com for free but i tend to find a lot of the Advertiser specific articles don't make it to the free news.com sister site, eg. Some of the Crows and Port articles they do.

Anyone going to have a captain's loophole rookie (that will most likely play mid-season)?
It's something I've been thinking about. Other than perhaps R3, I'm erring on 'no', for two main reasons:

- the removal of the sub rule means that rookies should make more cash this year/make it more quickly - so the cost of a donut is higher, and

- in relation to the emergency (rather than captain's) loophole, i think the elimination of the sub rule will even up the rookies' scoring somewhat, which should reduce the value in looping rookies.

What do you think?

Probably mentioned some where but Jan 29th is the opening day of SC
From memory, the 2016 Team Picker will be deleted at that time and be replaced by the official 2016 SC pages. This means that the draft team will be deleted and from memory there are usually quite a few people who get caught out by this (ie lose their draft team). Hopefully this reminder will help people avoid that outcome.

The problem with this though is that generally if your injured player plays on the Friday night or any of the Saturday day games then it renders their donut function as useless.

Is it bad that I know my draft team off by heart?

Matthew Pavlich has stood down as Fremantle captain after nine seasons at the helm.
The Dockers' games record-holder made a late decision last year to play on into a 17th AFL season but speculation had mounted as to whether or not he would captain the side in 2016.
Pavlich told the playing group on Wednesday that the time had come for a new leader to take over.
"First and foremost, it's the right time for the football club - the right time for me to step aside and allow a new player or players the opportunity to lead," Pavlich told the club's website.
"I have absolutely loved the honour and privilege of captaining Fremantle for the past nine years. Leading the boys out onto the field was always a highlight of my week.
"After considering my playing future last year and the ever increasing responsibilities I have as a father, finalising my university studies and my role as president of the AFL Players' Association, it is just the right time for both the club and myself.
"As an AFL player you must commit entirely to the cause and that's magnified even further as a captain. Both mentally and physically it takes it's toll and, given where my body is at, I also need to be focused on getting the best out of myself to ensure that my on field play continues to benefit the team."

I've been a big advocate for the floating donut in past years and have used it with decent success (i think).

I agree with both of your points but i like being sure i can almost always lock in my vice captain's score. If i don't start with Fyfe and Gaz isn't the Gaz that he was once upon a time (touch wood), i'll probably need 2 shots at my skipper score to keep me competitive in quieter weeks.

One thing i'll change about my donut choice this year will be that i'll aim to grab a player that is likely to play at some stage (Goddard of last year for eg) as having a playing rookie late would've been handy in the really painful weeks.

With SC opening in a few weeks, would anyone be interested in giving a draft keeper league a go? I already play classic and draft, so I wouldn't be taking it as seriously as those but I have been wanting to give it a shot

Have you checked if there's one in the Draft league sub forum? From memory there is/was a keeper one going there.

Also feel free to create a new thread on the main forum for registrations of interest and once you're all sorted, we can move the thread over for you.

BREAKING NEWS
Richmond will not sanction Dustin Martin for allegedly threatening to harm a woman at a Chapel Street restaurant last December.
But they have handed Martin a $5000 suspended sanction for being drunk in a public place
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
STATEMENT BY RICHMOND
An allegation of threat to inflict serious injury was recently made against Dustin Martin.
“The Club’s position throughout has been to establish exactly what happened in relation to these serious allegations so we could properly determine a course of action".
“The Club has also been mindful of the complainant, and the nature of her allegation, and endeavoured to be supportive whenever she has been in contact with the Club".
“The Club welcomed the fact the matter was referred to Victoria Police. It was only right that claims of this nature were thoroughly scrutinised and the facts established".
“Ultimately, after a thorough investigation, the Victoria Police concluded no criminal offence took place".
“An AFL investigation also concluded that there was no evidence to support or corroborate the allegation".
"As a result, the Club will not sanction Dustin Martin in relation to this allegation as no threat to harm occurred".
“Nonetheless, the Club is disappointed that Dustin was intoxicated on the night. When challenged by the complainant for being disruptive, he was argumentative and used obscene language".
“He has acknowledged this and has apologised for any offence or distress his behaviour caused. His apology was accepted by the complainant".
“As a professional athlete Dustin enjoys a privileged lifestyle. With professionalism comes responsibility and we expect much better from our players and all personnel".
“As a result, Dustin will have a suspended sanction of $5000 imposed for a breach of the Player Code of Conduct".
“The allegations of threat to harm aired on Channel 7, and subsequently reported widely across the media, have been extremely distressing and damaging for Dustin, and of great concern to the Richmond Football Club".
“Richmond Football Club finds any threat of violence against women totally unacceptable and condemns such behaviour in the strongest possible terms".
“However, as with every other member of the community, Dustin was entitled to the presumption of innocence until this very serious allegation was fully investigated".

Interesting IDIG. It's something I decided I would give a go last year - the really good coaches seem to use one, at least in certain circumstances - so I traded in Adamson mid-year, although it didn't seem to help that much. Might have been the tradesman rather than the tool though :)

Out of interest, do you mean that it's Fyfe you will be trying to keep up with as captain? My sense is that few are starting with him, and I imagine you would likely have Rocky, Pendles and probably one more top mid anyway?
