The only forward I am happy with at the moment is Boomer.

paying overs for Martin, questions on Barlow...................................am looking at Gunston/Roughead and Westhoff

have been playing around with Bird/Andrew Walker/Leuenberger/ Daisy Thomas + 4 rookies

could allow heater in defence and a 5 premium mid + Wines and Liberatore

guess like most seasons final structures will rely on rookies being named Round 1

I'm interested in Boomer as well. What do you think he can average?

Also interested about your mids. Are you saying 5 + 2 = 7 premo mids (incl Wines + Libba). Would be a very strong and deep midfield.

Hi Ricky Bobby

Certainly would be hoping that Boomer can average 95 - 100.

With 4 mid forwards..................................................it could allow a Pendlebury/Ablett/Gray/JPK/Rockliff/Wines/Libba

need Wines to average 105 - 108 to become a keeper, Libba coming back from a ACL would be around 90-95 then sideways/upgrade

I guess you would then be hoping Bird/Walker/Leuy/Daisy average minimum 75-80 and become stepping stones or slide down to bench players.

Always find it easier to downgrade/upgrade to a fallen(cheaper) premium defender or forward than a mid.................................................anyone over $ 550,000.00- $ 600,000.00 seems very hard to get

Most certainly the line I'm struggling most with. I'm assuming Barlow and Martin are locks. I'm structured at the moment with Montagna Dahl Dusty and Barlow. Not entirely happy with it but like you said there really isn't too many others I feel comfortable with.

Really hoping someone like Greene pops up in the NAB.
I'm actually the opposite. I think the forward line is the easiest to find good options other than the midfield this year.

Barlow and Dusty are locks for me, as both as huge potential and little chance of dropping considering their scoring history.

I also like Wingard, as he's had 2 good years now, is going into his 5th year and Port should rise up the ladder.

Dahl and Zorko could be risky given Liba and Beams' returns, but both should at least average 95+ as they've had 2 good years in a row, and are moving into their peak.

And then there's always Lids who's not great value, but has averaged 110+ across his last season and a half.

I was thinking around 95 for Boomer, so more than that would be a welcome outcome.
I think Wines can go about 105-110 but I think he might start a bit slowly as he doesn't seem to have very good averages against his first 4 opponents.
I also think your Libba estimate is a bit conservative. I'm hoping he can also ave 105-110 to be a keeper.

I've also given Buddy and especially Roughy much more consideration than normal (given they are KPFs).

Buddy looks high risk but potentially high reward. More of an upgrade target for me, if he looks the goods.

Roughy is an interesting one. Consistently just outside the very top forwards, which is pretty attractive given this year's crop. Also more durable than I might have guessed.
Do we think that Roughy might ruck a bit more this year with Hale's retirement. Might make him a few more points through the year.
You probably have better insight into this than I would, but that would seem to make sense.

There's also been some discussion on here about teams using rucks differently based on the no sub/interchange cap changes.

I don't have a strong view on that myself, but Roughy's best years have come when he's got more hitouts ... And he averaged almost none last year, so perhaps that's largely upside.

When he's had more than a handful of hitouts per game, he's averaged over 100.

Do you know whether his hit outs were to Advantage or not? If they are not mostly to advantage, then this may not help his scoring too much.

Deledio, Dusty, Barlow, Greene all bar locked unless something unforeseen happens between now and Rd1

Good question Ricky Bobby. Hitouts to advantage seem to be a notoriously hard stat to find. I did some Google work (even went to the bottom of page two!) and came across an SCS thread - I think it was FreoWho was quoting from the 2014 prospectus. Roughy's H2A stats actually aren't included there, or in a lot of the press artciles, because he's mainly a forward.

As it turns out, Roughy wins a low proportion of the ruck contests he attends, but in 2013, his H2A % was equal best in the comp, with Sam Jacobs. He also had the highest percentage of scores from clearances of any of the top 70 clearance winners.

Is anybody else struggling to pick premiums in their forward lines?

For me there are only two that I am comfortable with for my starting team and then two that I think are too expensive to start with so will be upgrade targets.

I'm thinking of starting with a 2-2-4 setup.
Hey mate,
Similar struggles with me on this also.
Currently have Martin, Bennell, Franklin, Greene (after Rowsus' work : Montagna a tough first 5 games and Buddy always scoring better at the start).
Have tossed up on whether the big boys like Walker and Stringer get a guerns. With Walker dropping KGs and 2nd year as leader, and Stringer - well he's a freak, so will he continue to get more time up the ground getting more disposals?
What's thoughts on the Menzel boys as a 200k-250k option?
Still a lot to go through with 3 of the current being risky options...

Anyone have any idea's on which Port player will benefit with the suspension of Gus Monfries.
Could Sam Gray now be a worthwhile pick.
480k is a fair whack just to punt on a player but his last 6 games he went - 102, 98, 84, 121, 138 and 125.
These scores were while Wines was out injured so I hadn't really considered him but things have changed a little now.

Not sure sure why it would help Gray as Monfries is a forward.

Don't want to speculate on who our top-ups will be, but Ahmed Saad saying he wants to play for the Bombers is interesting...

He would be close to standard rookie price and probably with reasonable JS I would think.

Not a horrible option for us at all. Would be very popular if priced in the low 100s you'd think

2012 16 games 60.9 ave
2013 13 games 46.8 ave
2015 4 games 41.2 ave

I know the sub rule will help him, but surely he shown enough to say their will be better picks than him.

I think Crameri's injury may mean that he has to stay a little closer to home.

I keep going back to Allen Christensen.. Coming into the prime of his career at age 24/25, settling into the Brisbane structure and hopefully injury niggles are behind him. Can see him taking his average from 85-90 to 95-100.
Everyone's thoughts on him?

I had for the most part of last year and it was an 'on the edge of your seat' experience for the most part, that is, in some games you think he's going to explode with a huge score...then goes missing for a quarter!

He just drifted in and out of game too often for my liking and now with the full complement of the Lions midfield brigade, I suspect that he will rotate more out of their forward line which as we know can be SC poison. He's not necessarily a bad choice and is in the bracket for a break out, but I've had the experience and will not be returning.

Rowsus gives a pretty concise summation in his Tables and Analysis of 2015 Season thread (post #15) which may help you decide.

Yeah going off those numbers as a small forward he's not a great option. He's said in the past that he wanted to play midfield or more time in the midfield so this might be his chance to become a little more fantasy relevant.

I bought into the 'more time up the field' talk a couple of years ago and had him in my team. You can see from his average that year how things turned out lol but as cliche has it sounds, he'd have something to prove and if rookie priced, he'd have at least decent JS and some midfield time i'd think.
