I wouldn't be surprised to see Spangher fill Roughies role and Brand to play back
Sh*te I forgot about the Spang. Yeah through him in the FWD line to at least require a bigger body to man up on him. Plus you know he is going to compete 110% every match.

What are your thoughts on Gunston now, mate?
Ooh Gunston becomes little more relevant? I had him at a less than 5% chance of being in my team as a POD until I heard that. Might be closer to 20% now.
Not sure it makes him more relevant.

Will get the best defender and won't be as free to roam the ground.
That was my line of thinking too.
Interesting. I've always thought Gunston copped the number 1 defender anyway and Rough played very much a utility role these days. I had a look through some historical numbers and it doesn't read especially well for Gunston when Roughie doesn't play.

2015 - Rd 15 vs Freo (McPharlin) - 61 sc
2015 - Rd 14 vs Coll (Langdon) - 86 sc
2014 - Rd 21 vs Freo (Johnson) - 51 sc
2014 - Rd 10 vs Port (Hombsch) - 87 sc

4 games @ 71

He was always gonna be a risky pick but even with such a small sample he's definitely a pass now. Bullet dodged! :D

EDIT: have also moved some posts from the injuries thread.

Thoughts on Dan Menzel?
Could someone enlighten me as to what role he plays for the Cats? Is he a small forward (in the Elliott-mould) or more of a flanker?

I think that he is more of a flanker, but keep in mind that Scott does like to change things around with structure.

IIRC Alex Pearce played on Gunston in R15? I'd give Gunston a miss personally.

Was pretty keen on Roughy! Potentially saves me a headache midseason.

I'd probably give Gunston a miss to start but keep in the back of my mind for a trade in option when their draw opens up. (ie: before the essendon game :p)

Nooooo! Roughy injured... just got home from work and found out now. Completely rules out Gunston for me now.

Any coaches have any interest in Dale Thomas?

Any Carlton supporters able to provide detail of his pre season?

What's the argument against Montagna? I haven't seen much interest in him despite being a high scorer in previous years. I don't think he will better his average but I think he will be a top 6 scorer! He's also been quite durable over the years!
If his age is a concern just look at what Harvey has done in his mid 30s.

The guy is likely to be a top 6 forward yes, but could average anywhere from mid 90s to 110. It's very likely you'll be able to pick him up for closer to 500k rather than 600k as one of your first forward upgrades.

If he's scoring closer to 105-110, wouldn't it be better to start him? He has a high ceiling, so potentially with his historically better first halves to seasons he might not actually get that much cheaper if he pulls a big one early.

Are there any other concerns ie: injury, role change concerns, younger players taking time off him?

As a saints supporter not quite sure what his role will be this year. With Richardson quite happy to play the kids I would wait and see what his role is first

Price is too uncomfortable at 308k to consider IMO.
Interested on this one. I haven't been around SC long enough or been burnt enough time to understand what an uncomfortable price is. What is a more comfortable price, 400k? Or is it less than 250k? I'd be keen for someone to expand on this.

Does anyone think Thomas can average 95? I think given he's had 5 career years around 78, and 3 spike years during Collingwood's time at the top, that he is probably an 80ppg player, and therefore not a good selection.

I'm actually with you on what a comfortable price. The answer is different for everyone as we all have different teams, structures. I've been daisy burnt before, not even a consideration!

If you are keen on someone to expand on this, someone basically has and then some, and then some. You have probably seen this blog from Klo but IMO this is one of if not the best piece of work I've seen on this site, and impromptu has awesome articles to read, and of course Rowsus is some type of machine on here!

Keep seeing news that Billings is spending a lot of time with the midfield group. This seems like a natural progression to me for him - he is abundantly talented (that game against the Dogs last year springs to mind). Does this make him more fantasy relevant?

In and out of my team like...so and so.

I think kakarot has pretty much summed up the argument against starting him. He's very likely to finish a top forward but at his starting price you would have to feel pretty confident he's gonna be around the 105+ mark.

My thinking is, if he looks like he's running through the midfield then he's a sure starter. Any fwd that has the potential to go 110 and HUGE on the odd week is worth shuffling some less-locked players around. If he looks like stepping aside for the younger kids then he's a wait and see.

Screams breakout but such a tough price and so little data on him to justify the risk imo. I like Merrett at a similar price who should play full time in the middle this year.
