Not to bad mate but forward line is a little week.. I think that maybe Crowley is to expensive for the bench..
It's going to be very interesting this year, Id probably downgrade Crowley and pocket $80k

"Play with your head, not your heart".

I have decided it's only logical to downgrade Zach Merrett to Aaron Hall, allowing me to upgrade Sheridan to Brodie Smith.

I really like Merrett a lot and was looking forward to having him in my team. Straight to the watchlist.

I also think Sheridan has exciting potential and could well be a 90-95 averaging keeper at just 351k, but Smith just seems like more of a sure thing.

Used all 10M now.

It's one of those things where we probably all over think it, you still need a bit of luck when it comes to your speculative picks, I can't really split Smith and Sheridan.

Happy overall... wondering if I downgrade Fyfe to upgrade Mills to Libba.

No Pendles, Fyfe, Gaz or Rocky

Winning play or dead by round 4?
You've swayed me on Fyfe - didn't realise he'd played that many minutes in the NAB Challenge.

Pendlebury I'm confident I can get cheaper. Rockliff/Ablett I just won't start anyone from round 1 without any NAB Cup exposure. Too risky.

Not particularly rapt with my F6 and maybe D4, but otherwise, I like my bye set up for now and relatively POD premiums.

G'day Cammo, you say in the post prior to this that you wont start anyone without seeing them in the NAB cup, yet you have picked Leuneberger....

Love the Nick Graham selection!

Fair point - hand forced a bit on that one - was hoping to take Lobbe instead, but going with Luey until I can figure out a better way forward on that one. If I have to take him - so be it, I'm not at risk too much if he falls over, whereas someone like Ablett/Rocky going down or having a quiet one, probably puts me as much as 100k behind the 8 ball already. Any suggestions as to other ruck options? I've got all of $1000 left!

If Berger does go down early and you have no cash reserves, you are then very limited on who you can replace him with, and we know he is a big injury risk...

As things stand you have Kerridge on your mids bench which seems a waste with his scoring potential, I would trade out Steele/Miller for a cheaper mid rookie and bring Kerridge forward, this will give you between 175-250k to upgrade Berger...

Mein,

Defence looks slightly weak with an underwhelming Hartley there.
I have S.Gray in the forward line, I think he is a good pick but not good enough for the mids.
No goldie in the ruck but Currie as insurance......gives you 40k to spend elsewhere which is nice.
Dollhouse fully priced, I would pick DMartin before him...Petracca might not play round 1, are you going to boot him to the kerb as a downgrade if not selected?

Just wondering what people think of this version of my team ??
Backline:
Shaw is a must have in my opinion I might be paying 20k - 30k overs, but saving a trade to get him in later on and the points I'll get out ways not starting with him..
D2,D3,D4 I'm hoping will all be in my side at the end of the year, with 90 plus averages..

Mids:
From M1 to M5 will hopefully be keepers ( maybe not Libba, good cash cow though).
Gone with Wells and high priced rookie options because I don't have faith in any of the lower priced ones being able to score at the required level and job security is a must also.

Rucks:
Hairy Max will hopefully finish in the top 3-4 rucks this year & Big Bad Bruiser Kreuzer will provide me with some descent scores this year (if he can stay fit)

Forwards:
Set and forget is the way for me in this line with kerridge a must have this year at that price..

All opinions are greatly appreciated..
Really great looking team! Like the back line with johannisen, would swap McGovern with rich who is a chance of midfield with all the Bris injuries.

Mids very strong- Petracca and Mathieson won't play round 1- room for Gresham and Davis.

Ruck swap Kruzer for Zac smith - this is the only weakness in your team

Forwards- daring but strong and potentially all keepers! Really like Sam gray, I have considered him and think he will go well this year. Well done!

Bit split atm.

Rich promises to break out but just doesnt seem to put it together. Did look fit the other night and with lions mids out he should score okay + Leppa did say he'd play more as a midfielder this year.

Johannisen in there but could easily become Lonergan if it turns to crap.

Can't see teams letting Shaw run free all day in the real comp. Paying big overs if he does indeed get sat on.
Weitering has js for sure butconsistant 70's is alot to ask of a first year player ( will say was very impressive in nab cup)

I have two teams I am working with, and they are VERY different!
Here are the players that are the difference between the two teams.
Common players replaced by X = non-Rookie, R = Rookie

Traditional G'n'R

Def: Shaw, X, X, R, R, Byrne-Jones, (Brown, R)
Mid: X, X, X, X, R, R, R, R, (R, R, FD)
Ruc: Goldstein, X (Currie)
Fwd: Deledio, Martin, X, R, R, R, (McCarthy, R)

12 Premiums, mostly very high priced, 18 Rookies below $250k, $58,500 left over.

Very speculative, value team.

Def: X, X, Rich, Lonergan, Sheridan, R (R, R)
Mid: X, X, X, X, R, R, R, R, (R, R, FD)
Ruc: Gawn, X, (FD)
Fwd: X, Gray S, Hall, De Goey, R, R, (R, R)

9 Keepers, 6 Speculative value picks, 15 Rookies, $48,800 left over.

I know it's half way between a "Rate My Team", and a "X v Y", but any opinions?

I prefer the second team mainly because I see Shaw and Deledio as upgrade targets.

The one thing I'm not a fan of in team two though is the omission of Goldy. I would have liked to have gone with a stepping stone at R2 to upgrade into Goldy but I just don't think there are any viable options so set and forget is the way to go I believe. Who do you have at R2 if you don't mind me asking?

The four premium midfield is interesting and not something I have seen very often. Are you confident in enough midfield rookies to pull that off?

I myself have had to drop from a 6 ultra premium MID down to a 4 ultra premium mid (counting Rocky as I think he'll be back to 2014 numbers) within the last week, namely due to lack of cheap rookies and the necessity of getting the likes of Mills, Wells etc. who I refused to go near previously (as it is not usually my strategy t go in with any mid-pricers or $$$$ rookies, except Cripps last year).

The X in the Ruck is Martin.
I'm pretty confident with the Mid Rookies. 2 or 3 of them are M/F Rookies.

If I had to choose, I'd still pick the first one.
I feel the second has too many of those speculative options. if Rich, Sheridan & Lonergan all turn out to be 88-90 averaging defenders (or even less) you would miss out on 2 95+ averaging options who would be top 6 defenders. You'd need 2 of the 3 to hit 95+ if you're starting all three of them I feel. I prefer only starting one of those types of players who should be close enough for a D6 if they hit 88-90. You'll probably start well with less reliance on rookie defenders but I think in the long term, it will hurt.
Similar thinking for the forward line, feel like a few of those players could turn into "list cloggers" if they don't actually breakout. I don't mind picking one of them, but three is a bit much. Some of these players like DeGoey, Hall (& lonergan) all have the first Bye round, so you can't maneuver them around Byes to add points value over an 18th bye round player when potentially sideswapping them to a top bracket premium.
Seems like that side hasn't got Libba either. If you're playing M/F rookies in the midfield, why not make the switch and just upgrade DeGoey to Libba who'll probably earn more points?
Also don't like No Goldy.

The first side seems to have Weitering at D4 and enough $200k rookies (all of Mills, Oliver and Parish(?) maybe a M/F?) to make plenty of cash and upgrades. I don't think Currie's going to get games, so potentially if you're running a M/F in the mids, I'd pocket the cash saved from Currie and try turn F1-F3 into an M5. I personally think the 2 Fwd premium structure is the way to go, but that's just my own thinking.

Good luck for the season. I really hope you have a big one this season, you deserve it!
