Always happy to help.
No problem with Ward, and I reckon you're right that a few of them, including the Captain, would have gotten an earful after the Collingwood game!
Your only options appear to be Ward, Steven and Priddis. Ward actually looks the safer of the 3 from here. Steven might score nothing but 140's and 90's from here, but will there be enough 140's? Probably not. Priddis will likely get a tag team of Viney and Vince running with him this week. Sometimes they're effective in slowing down their targets, other times not so much. With Lycett/Giles up against Gawn, supply might be a little depleted this week too. It all sounds like Ward to me!
Thanks Rowsus. Agree on Stevens and Priddis. Stevens and Priddis look unpredictable based on their last four games of the year over the finals.

Cannot afford Conilgio and not sure I have the guts to pick him, however, given GWS run he does look good, hadn't noticed him to I looked at your analysis.

Will go with Ward, cheers.

Hey B18,
given the way the landscape is sitting at Metricon Stadium right now, if I was looking for a sub $390k M/F, I would be bringing in Touk Miller! ($370,500) I think he's pretty much guaranteed to be playing Mid and resting Forward. He can score 100+'s, and gets his share of the ball, but like Hall, he can butcher it sometimes. He's only in 1% of teams, and has averaged 92 across his last 3 games, as his opportunities have increased. Motlop is in 6% of teams, and has averaged 67 over his last 3 games.
Thanks for the response Rowsus!
Miller an interesting name you've put forward! I picked him up for free in my draft league and was disappointed with a 50 odd score last week! He got an 84DT score so he definitely does butcher the ball a bit which is a worry. Will give it a bit more thought!

This is more a question for everyone: what's the deal with Clay Smith being the flavour of the month?
Avg of 90 for 250-odd meant he posed as a get out of jail free card for many who didn't have the cash to finish their team, or who wanted more reliable M/F cover. Kerridge --> Smith a few weeks back netted 200k for the same/better output I guess.

I didn't run with him personally, but I did recommend him to a few mates who found themselves in the position I described above.

Fair call. I just think he's a risk of reverting back to a 60 average, but can see the appeal.

I think MC's Mix fairly nailed it.
Anytime a cheapish player puts up 80's and 90's a lot of Coaches want to drop everything, and rush him into their sides.
C Smith has gone 82, 95, 98 from a starting price of $237,400, and a current price of $294,300.
I haven't, and couldn't recommend him, unless your team is complete, and you have 5 or more trades left.
He has had 3 knee reconstructions, and not many players have ever been SC relevant after 2 reco's.
Before this season he had only a handful of 90+ scores in 34 games.
Even dissecting last weeks score, he was on 37 at quarter time, in a game that would have been considered "over" by CD by that time. It basically means that anyone with a half decent score in the first quarter would continue to rise, even if they left the game at quarter time. My estimate is, that Smith would have still risen to around 55-60 by the end of the game, even if he had left the game at quarter time. In those terms, he only scored around 40 in the last 3 quarters.
I think he's a huge risk to either have disappeared again, or be throwing up 60's again, just when you need him. In those terms, it makes him a wasted, luxury trade. Hence, he's only for those that can afford such trades. imo.

Hi Row, need to trade Hall out now that he's gone for 3 weeks.
I have $472k to spend on a forward and already have the usual suspects in Merett, Dusty, Zorko, Gunston and Monty.
Who should I get in? Thanks!

Hi MMM,
it looks like a choice between: Bold = home game
Lynch - Fre, Melb, GWS, Ess, Coll, Port
Riewoldt N - WB, Nth, Carl, Syd, Rich, Bris
Greene - Port, Rich, GC, WC, Fre, Nth - Startrack, not Spotless

and just for someone leftfield
Lynch - Geel, Ess, Bris, Fre, Port, WC

All 4 of them are capable of being either useful, or dud picks.
Lynch (GC) (3.1%) Rnds 1-4 ave 114, Rnds 5-7 ave 87, Rnds 8-11 ave 56, Rnds 12-17 ave 107. Scored well last week (118) in a pretty poor performance by GC, with most of their Mids missing, and Hall going terribly. The question is, can he keep doing that, with a sub par Midfield?
NRoo (4.2%) is a bit of a statistical enigma. St Kilda play better at Etihad. Riewoldt scores better, the better St Kilda play. Riewoldt scores better in wins away from Etihad! St Kilda are a better side this season. Riewoldt scores ok, as long as St Kilda are competitive. St Kilda have a draw that says Riewoldt might score ok, but a lot depends on those wobbly knees of his.
Greene (10.3%), you just need to call his psycho-analyst, to see which Toby might turn up. Might average 110 from here, might average 75!
Lynch (Ade) (1.2%), the forgotten Lynch! Quietly averaging 91 this season, with only 4 poor scores in 15 games. Averaging 95 in wins this season, and Adelaide could potentially win it's last 6 games. Plays a roving 3rd tall type role, similar to Gunston. He's pretty much a tall Forward line on baller.

I'd go Lynch (GC), but if you are worried about GC falling apart, and supply drying up. Either trust NRoo's knees, or go Lynch (Ade).

Thanks Row, was thinking it was either Tom Lynch from GC or NRoo. Lots to ponder about before tomorrow that's for sure!

Love your work!

Hey Row I hope you're well, I'm really stumped here and would love your input.

This is my team currently:

Def: Shaw, Docherty, Simpson, Laird, McVeigh, Bartel- Collins, Tucker

Mid: Danger, Pendles, Selwood, Coniglio, Shiel, Parker, Hanners, Libba - Mathieson, Menadue, Trengrove

Ruck: Gawn, Goldy - Grimley

For: Martin, Merrett, Montagna, Gunston, Hall, N.Roo - Phillips, Greenwood

So I'm looking at a donut this week if I don't trade Hall but only have $10k and 3 trades, the way I see it my options are:

1- Hall -> Greene/Lycett

2 - Trengrove to Naismith via Phillips + Hall -> Zorko this only leaves 1 trade though

3- Trengrove -> Naismith and wait to see what happens next week with Hall, this gives me an extra $100k for my last 2 trades and could maybe use it to upgrade Mathieson to Dahlhaus in a couple of weeks.

Do you see any other options? I really don't wanna cop the donut as I have a big matchup this week that I really need to win!

Thanks mate!

Hey Rowsus

I read your comment in the teams thread about how Goldy was unstartable at his price this year even though he has gone on to average 110 for the year, which has me wondering what was the optimum starting ruck combination 18 rounds in? Taking into account games played, total points, dollars per point and trades required what are your thoughts on this?

Just off the top of my head something like a Gawn/Nic nat combo trading Nic Nat to Grundy at his bye would have to be up there.

Thanks in advance and look forward to seeing your response

Hey Fiasco, I'm well thanks, I hope you are too.
If Naismith had a tougher assignment this week, I'd vote for option 2, but you may as well back him in, as Carlton have been giving up some half decent Ruck scores. That way you can wait before you commit to using one of your last 2 trades.
Good luck, I hope you win your match up!

Thanks mate, I might see how he's going in the 1st quarter and if he's going well just leave it but if he's less than 10 points when the Gold Coast game starts then trade Hall to Zorko.
Thanks heaps!

Hey Row, hope all is good.
Need a replacement for Hall but not sure who to go, problem is that I only have 444k to spend. Do you think Greene is the best avalible in my situation?
Thanks mate

Hey Johnsy44,
it would seem to be out of Greene, Wingard and for a leftfield pick, Touk Miller.
If one of them was going to go on a run, and average 110, it would seem more likely to be Greene.

Thanks very much mate, seems like most people around here agree Greene is the best avalible for me. Hopefully he performs

Hi Rowsus,

My team is as follows.

Docherty, Shaw, Simpson, Bartel, Rance, Laird (Ruggles, Collins)

Dangerfield, Pendlebury, Selwood, Hannerbury, Neale, Sloane, Priddis, Gray (Jansen, Trengove, Macpherson)

Gawn, Goldy (Loersch)

Martin, Zerrett, Montagna, Hall, Wells, Petracca (Menadue, Phillips)

I have over 6 trades and 70k. My aim this week is to trade Menadue to Zorko. Are there any defenders that you would trade Ruggles to apart from R Williams to get the funds required?

Hi lmcjb,
I think all your options have shakey JS, so you may as well go with Williams, as he's the cheapest, and being from a struggling team, is most likely to be persevered with.
