I'd say most Ryder/Sandi owners would also be planning to trade out if injury was to hit, only they will be choosing between both fwds and rucks as their replacement. I couldn't bare to think who I would have to choose if my 308k ruckman went down early and i was forced to pick another , or restructure and use 2 trades.
I'll be tending to pay attention to a colleague with a bit of lettuce on the top left shoulder.

There is a ryder however; you don't play from North Korea, or a far flung tiny African power.

Interested in the "given you have Sandi you have ryder" comment. If I go Sandi, i'll likely trade him out if he gets injured, rather than cover with ryder. Appreciated this is a season ruiner early!
Agreed with you, especially considering that Ryder has been out for a year. To me is like compounding a risk with another risk.

Tear it to bits guys I'm keen to hear all your thoughts

TAdams, Laird, Houli, Keefe, Scharenberg, Hampton, SShaw, Rice

Danger, Pendles, Parker, Treloar, Rocky, Fyfe, Beams, SPP, Myers, Gore, Freeman

Sandi, Giles, Strnadica

Dahl, Macrea, Ryder, WHE, Mccluggage, JThomas, ABlack, Ahearn

Thats a 13-2(sandi/giles)-15 setup

Rookies are place holder obviously but have tried to choose ones that should get games with a few higher priced ones in there also.
I would only choose a stepping stone as a means to getting a highly priced unique player. Gawn would be that player in the rucks. Goldy and Grundy are well priced if you are choosing them as keepers so there is no need to wait for a price drop. Because you have Sandi and Giles and only 1 potentially overpriced ruck it means 1 of these 2 is basically a cash cow. At their prices they are poor cash cows and would only be of value if there weren't enough bottom priced cash cows on other lines. I have Sandi because he gives me a few more vc options than Giles. I would go Parker down to a cash cow and Giles to Goldy.

Didn't mind one of my first attempts, and could be pretty close to keeping it (potentially too many mid-pricers):
Shaw, Rance, JJ, Bob, Rook, Rook, Rook, Rook
Danger, Selwood/One of the Swans, Bont, Fyfe, Beams, Swallow, Rook, Rook, Rook, Rook, Rook
Goldi, Sandi, Rook
Doll, Macrae, 2 of Caddy, Heeney, Ryder, Rough, McGlugg, Rook, Rook, Rook

Reasonable happy with this side:

RANCE ADAMS LAIRD JJ Nielson Johnson Ryan Stewart

DANGER PENDLES ABLETT FYFE BEAMS Berry Powell-Pepper Myers Freeman Bolton Graham

GOLDY SANDI Strnadica

DAHL MACRAE LYNCH RYDER Hoskin-Elliot McCarthy Pickett Ahern

Rookies will change of course. If Sandi no good will drop JJ for a rookie and take Gawn.

I like the look of this team.

I'm not sure about Ablett these days though both for scoring potential and durability. I think he's well past his prime and that shoulder of his has me worried.

Any reason for no Joey down back?

If Ablett plays pre season games a no brainer for me.

I think the backline players are so evenly matched it doesn't really matter who you pick.

Haven't ever posted a team before so I welcome everyone to pick it apart.
For the record you'd need a lot of luck with a few cheap rookies to play rnd1 in order to field such a team
RANCE , ADAMS, LAIRD
HARTLETT, hibberd, Ryan

DANGER, PENDLES, GAJ, BONT
FYFE, BEAMS, Myers, ahern

GOLDY, Sandilands

DAHLHAUS , MACRAE, HEENEY
RYDER, Pickett, Balic

Shaw, Montagna, Adams, Laird, Hampton, Newman (Stewart, Ryan)
Dangerfield, Treloar, Martin, Bontempelli, Beams, Myers, Foote, Powell-Pepper (Barratt, Graham, Fisher)
Goldstein, Sandilands (Strnadica)
Dahlhaus, Macrae, T Lynch GC, Heeney, McCarthy Knight (Bowes, Eddy)

12 Keepers + Beams, Sandi, Heeney. Plenty of $$ in the rooks to keep the structure. Not sold on Heeney by any stretch - think it could be a year too early.

Could drop Sandi and Heeney for Goldy/Gawn and Rookie. Then it would be 14 Keepers including Beams who I think is a serious gift that can't be passed up if fit.

One of those to structures suit me at the moment. At this stage Sandi is the only true mid-pricer I'm looking seriously at.

Solid looking team across all lines Blaze, just wondering what you thinking is on (no) Fyfe and also what's your thoughts on T.Lynch, haven't seen him picked much so far.

I know everybody is only putting in place holder Rookies, but one of the few teams I've seen with both Foote and Barrett. Both will be close to must have Rookies, I reckon.

Promised the wife I Wouldnt touch SC until Feb. Anyone got a time machine? Anyways here are the ramblings of a mad man.

Backs: Adams Laird JJ Scharenberg rook rook rook rook

Not 100% sold on this just yet. Adams and Laird I would back to be top 10 if no injuries. JJ for some reason not 100% sold. plenty of other options in the back and wouldn't be surprised if 10 or so players end up averaging 95+. but it all depends on how many games they play so went for 'younger' players who are less likely to be managed. (PS didnt check the age of my 3 prems, please dont tell me they are 30yo+!!!)

Mids: Danger Pendles Rockliff Fyfe Bont Beams Myers SPP rook rook rook

Pretty solid.
Danger / Pendles first picked for C options.
Bont to take it to another level. If it was legal I would marry him.
Beams to good to ignore.
Fyfe/Rock to hard to pass up paying for a 107ppg premium who could easily bust out a 120+ season. Or be injured round 1.
Rooks NAB dependent but a few too hard to ignore.

There are options galore in the mids. Wouldnt be surprised if there are 10-15 who average 110+ by season end. I dont think the season will be won in the mids. Just dont do anything stupid here.

Ruck: Goldie Sandi Strnadica
Will take a risk with Sandi if he holds in up the pre-season. Goldie will be Top 3. Sandi either then as a stepping stone or genius keeper.

Forwards: Dahlhaus Lids Heeney 5x rooks
Most years the Top 10 are 80% filled with quasi-mids. Not htis year.

I sense it will be different this year as with current pricing 6 of the top 10 are actually KPP's. I actually think that this year the winner/higher ranked will make the right calls in the forward line. I will put most time in here. Dahl to be best FWD barring injury. Heeney continue to watch. If you can make the right call here i reckon you will be in good stead.

Overall
I am pretty happy with this side, although i have 340k left in the bank! may beef up a rookie to a premium but happy to have this in the bank until NAB as my rookies are pretty low priced and there will undoubtly be taht 200k rookie must have.

Pretty cookie cutter I think. But cookie cutter is good. Mostly GNR with Heeney as a breakout and Sandi/Beams as a fallen premium. Fyfe and Rockliff for value. a lot depends on rookies, as i am prepared to only have 2 Prem's in the forward/backline if enough present based on pre-season.

So much water to pass under the bridge and only Ablett knows what my final side will look like.

Cant wait for my 5-minutes-to-round-1-lockout-panic-starter-that-I-regret-all-year decision.

Good luck all.

Fyfe is well and truly in calculations and Danger is my only premo lock. More about balancing injury risk for me and this team had beams and sandi already. I like Martin too as a pod mid in R12 and think he deserves consideration as mid only.
T Lynch I think will be the best KPF and I think GC will come strongly out the blocks next year - Not 100% sold but we need to be creative in the Fwds and picking the right KPF could be a defining move :)

Hi all. Great to see some familiar names back so early in the pre season. First play around for the 2017 season and as a first time dad. Put some high end rookies in there to give a slighlty more accurate indication on what reality will look like next year.
Not sold on Gaz but he's in for now. JJ a 50/50 too

Hi BC. Lots of good premium names is your side, but I worry about the number of them coming back from injury - Gaz, Fyfe, Beams, Swallow. Add to that JJ has some problems last year and Ryder has had the year off. I think it's ok to take some of these guys, but it might be worth replacing a few with some more durable (if slightly less exciting) players.

So, while you have a great list on paper, I feel as though there is quite a lot of risk in there. I also just notisted that you have Steph in the ruck and this gave me horrible flashbacks to last year. Perhaps he'll bounce back this year, but I was to burned be him last season to go there again.

Cheers RB. Totally agree mate. Willing to take the gamble on Swallow at his price, a BnF winner and very underpriced.
Gaz Fyfe Beams are a worry and will no doubt be a factor on who's leading the early charge.
Take the risk and they all av over 110 or the flip side....
Avoid, they break down or have a slow start and you look a genious out infront.
Stef a beast in his proper ruck/mid role. Will dominate if the new coaches plays him like that.
Bont Titch and co the next layer if i back out of beams and gaz.
Love Jpk and ill risk Fyfe tbh.

FWIW, I'm tending towards Swallow and Beams at the lower prices (and thus the better risk/reward ratio)
