G'day all,
I stumbled on this form while looking for information on rookie / midpricer appreciation via a link on roar, from memory.
There is some really good discussion and analysis here, the illustrative scenarios are a highlight.
In terms of me, I'm an Aussie currently living and working in Switzerland (Germany prior to that). Only started playing SC three years ago and am fair to middling at best. I'll try to be more of an active participant moving forward.
Welcome mate, I'm sure you will improve out of sight after discovering our great little community.

perhaps it was an android google v China mishap: posted again here

I've been roaming these forums for quite some time now. Love the info one can pick up.

Originally, not an AFL watcher or player. In Qld it was considered a dirty word or illness when I grew up. Preferred league and cricket and only got interested after the Lions won their second. Even then, I was more interested in league. I certainly remember the excitement in grabbing Billy Slater in a virtual footy league in his debut season... That's some time ago.

Earliest memory of AFL was watching it on Sunday before wide world of sports and having to work out the rules by myself. Must have been about 7. Had never seen it till then coming from a union watching family. Was a strange game that always seemed to have the Hawkes playing. Surprised I didn't become a Hawkes fan, really.

Got involved in fantasy AFL via my real life cricket team. Got smashed the first season, and the second... But not as bad. Took a few seasons to find this site.

I am living and working abroad at the moment. China presents some difficulty in keeping abreast of AFL news. I rely heavily on this and a few other sites.

Very busy with work this year. Pretty much doing two jobs. Also, one last semester to finish my masters in education. I thought I could handle the load, but SC suffered last year as a result... And I feel a tad guilty that I accepted a position in premier league knowing I'd be under the pump. Oops. Sorry about that, chaps.

Second child also due in February... So expect a difficult early run for my SC side followed by a resurrection in Summer (June/July) when I'll have finished my study and have a long holiday from work. Seriously, I will have no time till June.

Hobbies? Cricket and most sports, food, technology (specifically Android), books, fishing, China, and supercoach.

Really appreciate the banter and nature of posts from all the members on this site. Good luck in the coming season. Looking forward to the Year of the Rooster.

Cheers

*note: Am I excited about another the Suns and Port coming to China? No ... It will be a case of so near, yet so far. I would love nothing more than to zing down to shanghai on the fast train ... but I know that study and newborn will need to come first this year. I hope it's a success though and the Lions travel in 2018!!!

Hey guys,
I found this site a few weeks ago and have been lurking it a bit. I already use BigFooty as my main SC go to (same alias), but some of the articles that have been going up here recently have been really well done, especially the "Mod Squad" ones, and I found the 100+ seasons thread really interesting too. So I decided I'd make an account on here so I can keep track of it a bit better and also chime in every now and again.
Also looking to join a few more competitive leagues next year and figured this would be a good place for that.

Thanks IDIG,
I saw that the bloke that came 6th this year is a regular here too which is pretty cool, along with a stack of other blokes who have had high finishes throughout the years. You lot must be doing something right around here.

Yeah we had a few of our members all within striking distance last year but just fell short in the end. It's the great thing about SuperCoach though, there's always next year ;)

G'day all

Been on this site for a few months but don't think I've introduced myself.

'Blades' comes from Sheffield Utd as my dad's a yorkshireman (it's easier to say on a AFL website than say he's a POM...)

I'm a mad Carlton supporter (getting madder), but given I was born and bred in Darwin (surviving cyclone Tracey) and have had a few of Cyril's uncles run rings around me on a footy field, I often also follow the indigenous boys (not always so supercoach relevant). Lived in Melbourne for last 15 years or so.

Father of four (ages 24 down to 1), second marriage. This one 'allows' my passion for footy and supercoach which means she's a keeper. In fact the whole family dabble in the SC rivalry now.

I consult on strategy to Credit Unions (hopefully keeping the big banks honest) and I was discussing with the old bloke the other day how some of the 'SC skills' are transferable to my workplace (predicting/forecasting interest rates, risk management based on history, weaknesses, the importance of having all lines functioning, contingencies etc)

Really like this sight, good set-up but most of all good people willing to share ideas and have fun without the agro...

Good luck to all this year. (I reckon it's going to a more difficult year with not so many cookie cutter teams)

Cheers

Welcome Blades.

Couldn't agree more about the ".....good set-up but most of all good people willing to share ideas and have fun without the agro..."

You have an interesting history with Darwin. Glad you survived Tracy and having rings run round you Cyril's uncles. I'm wondering which caused the stronger wind??? ;)

Good luck in 2017

I have played Supercoach for only 3 years and participate in a few forums but am dissapointed only just found this one. My supercoach style is to take calculated risks and base my selections on data rather than opinion. My downfall is that i probably take too many risks. But that is the fun for me.

Welcome mate, you'll fit in nicely here if you like to take the odd calculated risk...especially if you take too many like most of us haha

How have you gone in previous years?

Top 10% is my best effort last year. I was top 1% after 2 rounds but slid down the rankings after that due to my stubborn refusal to admit that some of the guys i went with were spuds. This year i am hoping to go top 5%.

Welcome aboard Luskin. Top 5% is very achievable if you absorb the info and advice around these parts ... A lot of us have improved dramatically that way!

Hey all,

Long time lurker (seriously though), big fan of the site. Not much for posting, but figured to say hi and maybe get in on some of the action in the cash comps. Likely a donation as I don't think I've ever finished in the top 5k, but maybe this'll be the year that changes!

Welcome amiright! Great to have you on board.

You'd be surprised how many places overall you can improve with just the one different initial pick so 5k into 1k is very achievable. Best of luck with the tourney, feel free to jump in the RMT or positional threads if you're unsure about a player or structure. You'll get lots of great advice and opinions there.

Hello to All,
I am an Essendon supporter.
I was doing some family history research and one of my ancestors back in Scotland was so fearsome that they named him the 'Kilted Killer'. My mates call me Evil so I'm just going to roll with it. Macka is just as good but there's lots of them! I love supercoach and have played it since inception. I was in the top 100 last year until I got ****ed on a Friday night and completely ruined my season! I am new to this site but I am already impressed with the amount of quality material I have read. Thanks for having me. Keep up the good work!

Welcome KK. There's not many Essendon supporters on here so you're definitely welcome (tongue placed firmly in cheek there as there's heaps of us!). What did you actually do on that Friday night?

Jay aka Impromptu slept in one year after a big night on the turps, which meant he missed the number 1 rookie that year and he never recovered. Can't think of which rookie it was that year though!

Along with the intros, I thought it would be cool for members to share whatever exciting stuff that's going on in their lives.

For me, first baby less than a month away. Living in rads now, the baby shower was full of Crows themed presents....not cool!

Yes, I did just say rads.
