Looking at 2 donuts before trades if Preuss and/or Florent aren't recalled (Nank, Greene and Parfitt to deal with).

Would like to move Hampton on for EVW but not sure I can if Preuss doesn't get a gig.

Parfitt to Parsons my other trade pending team selection.

Ceglar will return later in the year though, apparently his progress is tracking well. That's my big concern.
Yes, I think I read a post that said around 8 weeks time.
If McEvoy keeps up these averages, he should keep his place in the team even when Ceglar returns?

He will definitely keep his spot..his scores will suffer greatly though because they will share ruck time.

Thoughts on Ben McEvoy?

Nicely priced for his average of 97. He only scored 100+ once last year, has already scored 100+ 4 times.

Seems to be one of the few Hawks who is giving a big effort each week. He's also only 27 so should be in his prime. He seems a risky pick, but given the uncertainty with the rucks this year is he worth a punt?

EDIT: No Ceglar seems to be helping his scoring this year. In saying that, Injury update lists Ceglar as returning in 8 weeks.

Cheers
Ben McEvoy is putting his hand up as one of the better ruck options.
His season average score is 90.8 and last 3 game average is 95.7.
Like most ruckmen, he has had his share of injuries, but not too bad.
In the last 7 seasons he has played: 23, 19, 13, 22, 16, 22, and 19 games.
He has played all 6 games in 2017.
He has massively improved his average Hit Outs from just under 19 per game during those 8 seasons to 28.6 in 2017.
I actually almost brought him in last week. He seems to be another ruckman that has improved with the new ruck rules (possibly). He is also having career numbers across the board which may have to do with a change in game plan at Hawthorn.

The concern for me is the apparent gap between Mummy/Stef and the rest. McEvoy could return to his historical numbers and turn out to be a 5-15ppg negative POD against those 2 (granted he could also outscore them both :p).

His rd 13 bye also causes a bit of a problem for me so i'm inclined to wait as long as i can before bringing in a ruck. The way things are looking though, i may need to bite the bullet and bring him or Goldy in this week to avoid a donut.

Fellas, I reckon I'm in a bit of a pickle. 28k in the bank.

Doch, Adams, Laird, Otten, MB, Newman (Hampton, Stewart)
Danger, JPK, Selwood, Pendles, Fyfe, Bont, Beams, SPP (Florent, Barrett, Deluca)
Nank, Sandi (Strn)
Dahl, Macrae, Higgins, Butler, Balic, Parfitt (Pickett, Eddy)

Think I have to bring in a premium ruck this week in order to cover Nank (and just in general beef my team up. However, I have 2 issues. A) I need one of Florent, Eddy or Pickett to play to cover him. B) who do I bring in? I'm basically stuffed I reckon, unless I think of something nifty. I think Cox gets dropped this week, so Grundy comes in, but it's kinda pointless if Florent/Eddy/Pickett doesn't get named. I do have to trade in a premium ruck to cover nank this week which sucks.

Parfitt and Otten to EVW and Grundy leaves me with about 3k left, but in a good position overall. Thoughts? Will leave me with 20 trades and 6 rookies on field.
Hi Bomberboy,
If you decide to get a premium ruck this week have you considered the option of Ben McEvoy over Grundy?

McEvoy
Current price: 454,900
Season average score: 96.5
Last 3 round average:114.7

Grundy
Current price: 513,300
Season average score: 98.2
Last 3 round average: 89.0

This trade option saves you 58,400.
Ceglar returning later in the season is a concern, but may not be if McEvoy continues with these averages.

An update on McEvoys average scores after round 6.
McEvoy
Current price: 454,900
Season average score: 96.5
Last 3 round average:114.7
Good luck with your decision. I hope whichever you choose gives you the scores you desire :)

So if parsons isn't named this week i don't think ill make any changes at all.
My current rookies all have what looks to be beatable b/e's so no need to trade.

D Otten(55), MB(49), Newman(15), Hampton(31), Williamson(-24)
M SPP(0), Parfitt(inj), Balic(-48), Barrett(-24)
R -
F WHE(30), Butler(47), Eddy(-35), Nank(susp)

May jump on black but only real way of doing that is going Eddy to him and he'll get another go soon you would think, won't he?

It's definitely not a coincidence that when Vickery hasn't played, McEvoy has excelled. Being the sole ruck has definitely helped his score. Hawks have always preferred the 2 rucks with him sharing duties with Hale & Ceglar over the past few years which has hurt McEvoy's scoring during that time. So as long as Vickery doesn't come back in he should be a safe option but yeah if Ceglar does come back in... you may want to trade him. Definitely a short term solution to ruck woes but when Ceglar is fully fit and playing, don't be expecting these sort of numbers from McEvoy too often and yeah if Vickery gets a call up, that'll also be bad for him.

I still like Grundy even though Cox seems to have had an effect on him. Mummy and Martin I feel have risks attached to them too which might end up being bigger than the Cox issue for Grundy. The money saved is also useful for upgrades later on. Cox might get dropped soon too.
Still unsure which ruck I'd get so I've had another thought. Ultimately if I get for e.g. Martin, my cover really just ends up Hannan.

I could eat the donut and lose Hannans 20 and upgrade marchbank to Docherty. Then instead of EVW I'd have to get Parsons.

Thoughts?

Ceglar not being there is what is allowing McEvoy to get these high averages, so it should 100% be a concern when he does come back in the latter half of the season.

That could the better route I reckon. 100 + 20-40 vs 0 + 40 (115 for Doch over 75 from MB).

As much as I want to get both Hibberd and Heeney this week or go 1 up and 1 down, with basically no rookies on the bubble next week have conceded I shall take the hit short term and double down. Otten/Hampton to EVW and Parfitt to Black/Parsons will atm most likely be my trades.Think I'll have about $650k in the bank to play with and should be able to hopefully triple upgrade the following 2 weeks.

Glad people finally are figuring this out haha. Crazy not to double downgrade this week, especially if you're not copping a ruck donut.

Was probably just people reacting to the poor scores over the weekend and looking to do short term fixes. I myself being guilty of this lol. But now that I've had a few days to think about it, I've come to my senses.

If you have a spare 30 mins... I'd recommend planning the next 6-7 rounds. I did this yesterday and feel more confident about my season now. This is one scenario I did where I recruited some I'm unlikely to go for and kept hold of some rookies that i probably won't (can't reveal everything!), as an example.

This is how I'm tracking with respects to the MBRs, after projected trades for this round.

Mountford is a chance to get a game for North - would give us one on the bubble next week.
That would be really good too as he has a great bye! Although Swallow and Thomas both had good games in the 2s too so not sure on his JS. If Scott declared that he'd play the kids like Ross did last year, I'd be a lot more convinced on his JS.
