G’day Rows,
Are you looking at any out and out forwards?
Just wondering about your thoughts on Charlie Dixon, Buddy and Tom Lynch (Adel)
Like most fwds I guess you are always in it for the ride but they do seem to end up averaging quite well.
The other question was around Luke Ryan (freo) and Marchbank. Bit of a risk but disposal efficiency I think was ok for Ryan and Marchbank is highly rated and I think can fill Dochertys role quite well to improve his scores. He just needs to improve his kicking efficiency.
G'day Slam,
at different stages I have had all three in my team, and yesterday all 3 were together in my team!
Dixon has the ceiling and a decent draw, Lynch has the best Draw for a Key Forward in the first half of the season (even though GC don't have a home game early on), and Buddy is Buddy!
As you suggested, it's a real rollercoaster ride, so timing can be key with this type of player. Currently I have Dixon and Lynch, and no Buddy.
I've thought about Marchbank, and the Docherty role. I'm actually convinced it won't be one player filling that role, so we shouldn't get a headache from trying to figure out who best benefits from it. The thing that put me off Marchbank in the end, is I think he will play 3rd tall Def when playing against teams with a tall Forward line. That role can be SC unfriendly sometimes.
Luke Ryan. Luke Ryan. Luke Ryan. ........
Let's break his season into two parts:
Rnds 19 & 20: Ave marks taken 15 - Ave SC 126.0
His other 9 games: Ave marks taken 4.4 - Ave SC 65.9
He's not going to take 16 marks too often in a game, which was actually the highest recorded in 2017.
Even if you wanted to give him 3 or 4 games of that caliber in 2018, can you see him in the other games, where he doesn't take 12+ marks, increasing his score enough to make him a good pick? 2nd year player, awkwardly priced, not for me.
