Hi Rowsus, thank you firstly for all the work you do here. Truly brilliant stuff.

My question relates to Callum Mills.

I was hoping for a breakout season but at this early stage, it’s not looking likely.

When I picked Mills, I expected that he might play a bit more high half back (McVeigh type role), but he’s playing a much more accountable and defensive role than I’d hoped for. Add to that, McVeigh and Lloyd seem to be the ‘go to’ players for the Swans out of defence.

Not having Sicily might end up being a negative POD so I am thinking of going Mills to Sicily to close that off.

I know Mills got 90 last week but I think he was lucky to get that really.

Tracking for a 50-60 tonight and that won’t be good enough for D3.

Current backs are;

Laird, McGovern, Mills, Doedee, Murray, Murphy, Naughton and O’Connor (with Finlayson in the mids).

Alternative to Sicily could be to swing Finlayson back and bring in Coniglio into the mids.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Hey Row, can you give me some insights into Hibberd, has his role changed since last season or is he simply in a bit of a slump that we need to ride out?
If his role has changed I'm happy to cop the lost trade given I have all of the essential rookies, if not I'll keep the faith!
Also re: Crouch, I have 100k roughly up my sleeve so can grab Dusty, though I'm keen on Parker as a bit of value. Given I already have Bont, Coniglio and Cripps as 'iffy' premiums (along with Titch, Fyfe and Crouch) is Dusty the optimal route?

Cheers mate

Hey Rowsus,

Didn’t manage to catch the second half of the swans game but I saw Parker had a huge first half and was keen to get him in. Just wondering if you were watching/know why he only finished on 105? Contemplating a Crouch >Parker/Bonner route, the second would give me cash to get danger in relatively early.

Also I'm thinking of moving Lobb on this week - while he's been alright and I think has the capacity to go 85+, I'm looking strongly at Tim Taranto to pocket 50k and I think he's more likely to average 90+ from here, given some of the GWS injuries. Do you think this would be worth a trade?

Thanks a bunch :)

Happy birthday to the greatest Supercoach analyst in the world.
Hope you tip a few in and have a splendid day Row.

Quick question, I saw C Curnow's round 1 game and liked what I saw. Missed this rounds game but looks as if he scored well again.
Can you see Charlie being a keeper this year mate ?

Hi Rowsus

Hope you are enjoying your birthday and Round 2 was kind to you.

My question regards Laird , due to his starting price I did not start him (or Hurley , Yeo & Hibberd) and was hoping he would have a slowish start.

I fully expect him to finish Top 6 defender.

How wrong was I and after a 137 & 120 I feel if I don't get him in now he will be fast approaching $ 600,000.00 and out of reach for awhile.

I need to correct Lambert , so am thinking of getting Laird this week.

I had him down for a 100.00 ave for the season so even without correcting he would need to average 97.15 per week from here on , a figure I doubt many other defenders will reach.

Their does not seem to be a clear breakout defender as yet , about 8 in the $ 300,000.00 + bracket are averaging 90 + but whether they all can sustain that is up to conjecture.

Hurn looks like he is over scoring at the moment , Ryan , Lloyd & Savage look OK.

My defence if I got Laird would be :-

Laird , Shaw , Doedee , Bonner , Finlayson , Murray (Murphy , Keeffe)

My first trade will be CEllis to Kelly :) so my second would be Lambert to Laird.

I have a reasonable start to the season (ranked 4,272) so would appreciate any advice.

Thanks in advance

Hi Rowsus, I am sitting 746 overall and my only concern is Lambert. He hasn't started well and with $62.6k in the bank Im looking to move on him. Can you give any insight to Zac Fisher please. Im thinking of banking the cash (Danger upgrade) while Fisher appears to be a solid cash cow while providing points on field
or the other option im considering at this stage is Toby McLean, any info on Toby would also be appreciated or is another Toby, Toby Greene the more logical pick..?

Hey Rows,

Happy Birthday
Guessing it is time for those correctional trades
Unfortunately this year I have a few too many so I have to choose wisely.
Rayner (don’t ask) is by worst followed by CEllis, Armitage and Lambert
Of course we do not have the luxury of 4 trades so I am a little stuck as to who to offload first
Thinking possibly Rayner must go but he could sit on my bench
CEllis to Bonner seems the go but I used all my cash this year
So need to trade a Rayner or Armitage and hope Lambert comes good
Could be Armitage to CEY and CEllis to Bonner or
Any suggestions as to what order I should look at would be greatly appreciated

Happy birthday.
Would you swap any of, fritsch, garlett, d.fogarty, banfield, Barry, a.brayshaw to liam Ryan after he hit a ton?
Perhaps it's a wait for teams for round 3 decision. It slightly feels like a waste of a trade

Hi Rowan, heard it’s your birthday, hope you’re going well!

What's your thought on Coniglio? As a Matt Crouch owner I’m thinking this could be the obvious trade. Do you have an opinion on him? The cash it frees up would allow me to go Dow to Dangerfield or Titch after round three. (The other trade this round will be Ryder to NicNat).

Thanks mate in advance!

Hi Rowsus,
Hope you’re well. I need to correct Rayner and Hunter Clark this week, I’m unsure whether to bring in both L Murphy and Barry and bank $150k or bring only one of those two plus Bonner in (but have no cash)? Your thoughts would be appreciated! Cheers.

I suspect the Happy Birthday wishes are just an annoying interference to/with the business at hand.

Happy Birthday!!!

:)

My question this time, (and it seems to be a Brisbane thing - possibly as we are suspect of anything that Carlton gives us due to previously poor experiences), is an echo of Lewis's prodding question surrounding Mr Zac Fisher. Is he a go-ah?

Actually, Lambert was too expensive for me (have him in the 50 dollar added comp), but Bell wasn't (Have him too in that 50 dollar added comp - yipee).

Anyway, same question, delivered from a different root. Is he a go to get me to the next rookie plus cash? I think he might be alright, yes? Or is there someone that might be better in consideration afetr first two rounds.

Will finish another glass of wine to celebrate your birthday.

Cheers.

Hi Lukus193,
thanks for the good words. :)
I think Sicily might struggle against some of the better teams, that will make him accountable, instead of just getting loose, and taking those intercept marks.
Given the closeness in price between Sicily and Coniglio, but the difference in potential scoring, I think Mills to Coniglio is a pretty strong move, and I would definitely recommend it.

Hey MC,
I don't think his role has changed too much, apart from the kick ins, which I guess is pretty significant in itself. I think he's just getting squeezed by Lewis playing more Def/Mid this season, so Hibberd has a bit more competition as the go to guy, or even run off and be creative guy. They can't all run off! Hibberd will have his games, but our confidence in Hibberd being 95+ this season is rightfully dented. If you are being creative, it's definitely worth a shot. If it's just a side swap, you need to be sure/highly confident the player replacing him is going to be more than just 5 points/game better by seasons end.
On Crouch, I think Dusty is your best bet here. On his recent form and MCG form, his price isn't going to slip anytime soon. Those who have only started one of Danger, Titch and Dusty are going to have to get creative to get the other two in. This is your opportunity to jump one of those hurdles. I like Parker, but Dusty seems more of a must have, even at the price difference.

Hey dyii,
I did see the second half. Even though the scoreboard was tight, Port smashed Sydney in the second half, in all the key areas. After half time it was 4.5.29 v 10.6.66, and to be honest, it could have been worse. Wines in particular went nuts, so it was no surprise Parker's scoring dropped off.
I guess the choice comes down to, how quickly you want to get Danger. That should be the determining factor. Stick with your pre-season plan to get him later, or scurry as fast you can now.

Thanks Pete. I didn't know I shared a birthday with another Supercoach analyst! :p
But really, your words are too kind. :)
Quiet day, with lunch at the local castle, so it was pretty good.

<a href="https://imgur.com/TW6T8sl"><img src="https://i.imgur.com/TW6T8sl.jpg?1" title="source: imgur.com" /></a>

Charlie's an interesting one, and I did watch him yesterday, and he looked pretty good. It's a big ask for a young Key Position player to be SC relevant in his 3rd season, and after only 29 games.
He might potentially be the exception:
2017 Rnd 1-13: 11 games, SC 57.5, 12.1 Disp, 4.6 Mks, Gls 0.5.
2017 Rnd 14-23: 10 games, SC 92.7, 16.4 Disp, 6.8 Mks, Gls 1.4.
His JLT was tough, but it was only the JLT, and the Saints are actually one of the two toughest for a KPF to do well against.
2018 Rnd 1-2: 2 games, SC 111.0, 18,5 Disp, 8.0 Mks, Gls 3.5
Certainly his last 12 games would buoy you with confidence, the question becomes, can he maintain the rage? His two opponets so far (Rich & GC) were the 6th and 7th hardest for KPF's to score well against last season, Collingwood who he plays this week were the 4th hardest. He then gets into an easier streak. He's done well this season against seemingly tough opposition, so that augers well.
You wouldn't take even money about him being a solid Keeper this season. Given his age and game count, you'd expect a stretch of drop off at some stage, particularly later in the season. In the mean time, he might make a pretty solid pick, especially for Rounds 4 to 9, where he has 5 easyish games out of 6, according to who KPF's scored well against last season.
I'm certainly entertaining a Lambert ---> Curnow trade this week.
