Franklin and Hannebery out of Friday night clash with Geelong @superfooty @telegraph_sport

Franklin bruised heel from 1st round clash v Eagles Hannebery groin
Massive news! Not surprised Hanners has been carrying something, he’s looked a shadow of his former self.

The AFL Tribunal will sit from 5pm tonight, Tuesday April 24, to hear the cases involving James Sicily, Lindsay Thomas and Joel Selwood (striking charge).
Cases to be heard in that order.
All nine other sanctions accepted from Rd5 games reviewed yesterday.

Nice work mate, should know the Sicily results before the game starts tonight.

Lance Franklin and Dan Hannebery will miss Sydney’s clash against Geelong on Saturday

SYDNEY has suffered a massive double injury blow ahead of Saturday’s clash with Geelong with Lance Franklin and Dan Hannebery both ruled out.

Hannebery has a groin problem and Franklin a bruised heel which he picked up in the season opener, both look set to miss multiple matches.

“It happened in Round 1 in Perth at Perth Stadium,” Swans coach John Longmire said.

“He hasn’t done any training of substance since then. We’ve been trying to get him better week-by-week and were hoping we could get to a point where he could get through games better and do some training.

“It hasn’t responded and got worse on the weekend and we’re not sure after that how it will respond.”

Longmire wouldn’t rule out an extended time on the sidelines for Franklin who hasn’t missed a game in more than two seasons.

“It could be but we’re not putting a time frame on it at the moment,” Longmire said.

“Two things about bruised heels, they are really painful and they’re hard to get a guide on how long it takes to come back from.”

Hannebery could also be in for an extended time out with his groin injury.

“It affected his performance so he won’t play this week,” Longmire said.

“It’s different to the one he had last year. He did have a significant groin issue last year for the whole year. This is a groin strain and we’re not sure how long it will be after that.”

Feel bad for those who traded an underperforming premium to Buddy off the back of his monster game in round 1. Reckon a few teams will get caught out next round with both Mirra/Guelfi popular downgrades but a few spotfires needing to be put out.

Wow so it only took until R6 to have carnage this year - that seems pretty early!

This is the usual start the upgrades period so while there are good downgrade targets I think I will keep with the one up one down. Planning to be keeping Sicily even if he is multiple weeks as long as I can avoid a donut.

With Sicily (being an owner maybe I am looking through rose coloured glasses) there seems to be a lot of outrage about the incident where potentially he could have misplaced his foot. It certainly wasn't a stomp and I wonder if his long rap sheet of floggish behaviour is coming back to haunt him. If it was a player rarely suspended who had done this I daresay it wouldn't be looked at. Others may have a different view!

No Kelly or Lobb on track at GWS but that means little, main session tomorrow. Lobb more likely than Kelly but both could be a chance. Langdon looks ready to go with glove

James Sicily has plead guilty to the charge of serious misconduct. His advocate, Peter O'Farrell, will argue for a one-week suspension."

Looks like this flog gets to stay in my team. Hopefully he has learnt his lesson but I highly doubt it.
Once a flog always a flog
