Hi Rowsus,
so you think Ross is giving more midfield exposure to the young blokes and you think Ross will throw Neale back out of the Mid at any time, so Neale's scoring will be lower.

Well, I've been doing some thinking too :)
I think that, since Neale was playing with a sore groin since Rd1 in 2017 and since he needed the rest during the preseason to fix his groin, then I think he was always going to have a slow start to the season. I think now, that he had the minor knee operation during the preseason, he is ready to take his rightful position in the midfield. So, I think he will return to his high SC scoring. That's what I think.

Preseason I planned to trade in Neale after he drops in price and hits good form and now I'm ready to trade him in this weekend. I was on a SuperCoach high this week, until you now put some negative thoughts in me, with your thinking, hmmm. So I don't know whether to thank you or curse you :p

So many thoughts. What are you thinking Ross??? I think I will trade him in.

What do you think of my thinking?
Hi Bermi,
I'm not saying you're right off track, there definitely could be merit in your thinking.
Two things concern me:
He played all of 2017 with the injury, without too much detrimental affect.
He played both JLT games, averaging 78% TOG, which is about his limit, so it makes me wonder how far behind he was in 2018 prep.

Hey Rows,

Unfortunately I am still stuck with Billing’s.
With all the other injuries Kreuzer, Buddy , Sloane I have had just to name a few I have been forced to keep him.
Would I be mad to get rid of him now??
I am assuming it would be a waste considering he has dropped so much in value and is now being outperformed by rookies.
Hey Slam,
it's a bitter pill to swallow, but with all the other dramas, and dilemmas, I think I'd just ride him out, and find other problems to fix for now.

I bloody hope so! He's been driving me nuts of late! Scored 150 in R1 and then was on 85 at HT in R2 but since then he's completely gone missing!
He was looking ok last week, then made a couple of horrible mistakes, including kicking into the man on the mark, instead of kicking an easy goal. He went backwards 8 points in 2 minutes, and never recovered.
I'm just going to ride him out, and hope it turns it around. He keeps looking good for patches, so hopefully that soon becomes games, or 3/4 of a game.

Thanks Rowsus.
What I find frustrating is that we don't know exactly what is happening/happened in the AFL clubs. Us SuperCoaches make decisions based on the limited information that we have, so we really shouldn't be upset with ourselves for making 'bad' choices. But it still hurts :)

Hi Row,

Assuming Zorko comes good (big if but let's move past that :p) I have 6 premo midfielders. One of the remaining spots will be filled by Danger, but not this week as I have a query over the injury he is carrying and am comfortable waiting just a little bit longer.

I was all set on bringing in Titch this week (mistake not starting him), however today it dawned on me that this would mean missing out on MCrouch at a very good price.

How should I view this situation? Should I prioritise the midfielder who I think is a lock for top 8 (Titch), or should I take a very likely top 8 at a good discount and upgrade other lines to a better standard?
And in what circumstances would this thinking change?

The spanner in the works here is that if I take titch he becomes a very viable VC option for this week.

Rowsus, how do you feel about Mclean as a trade in now?

My other preferred options probably aren't quite right timing wise:

Danger - not fully fit, should get cheaper
Dusty - should get cheaper
Yeo - not bad now but would prefer a non def given rookie scoring
Buddy - not playing
Grundy? - dear, Lycett has more cash to make

Mclean is clearly the least proven of the bunch. What do you think of him?

Thanks,

Darkie

Hi Xabi,
I assume you'd be leaving M Crouch to next week, to capitalise on his lower price, while Titch would be coming in this week.
Titch $601,900 this week.
Crouch next week approx. $481,200 + $440 x Rnd 7 score (assuming 120, then $534,000).
I think you need to workout what you see them both scoring from here, and compare the two.
Then you need to look at which better player that saved $68,000 would allow you to get in your Forward/Defence line, that you couldn't/wouldn't get, if you didn't have the exra cash.
Sounds more complicated than it is. It basically comes down to, you can have:
Titchell + Player A, or Crouch + Player B. Which combination, in your expectation scores better?
The other thing I'd look at, is how strong your Fwd/Def line is. If you have a couple of likely D/F 3,4 types, but are missing what you consider a strong D/F 1,2 type, I might be tempted to save the cash, and start there.
So pick the predicted stronger combination, unless you need to strengthen the top end of your Fwd/Def line, then take the Crouch option.

I wouldn't let 1 week of Titch being a VC option sway you too much. We shouldn't narrow our thinking to one weeks advantage, we should try and look at the season option. Of course, if you need Titch as an on going VC/C option, then the whole converstaion is moot.

Good luck, I hope you jump the right way.

What are your thoughts on Hurn, Rowsus?
Hurns last 9 seasons:

76 once
82 - 89 six times
91 once

That's fairly consistent.
Given he's on 102 already this season, I would be looking elsewhere. If you got him, you'd want 95/game from him, and that would give him a season of 97. That's 5-6/game over his career high, that was set way back in 2012. It seems outside of a spike season, that it's a bridge too far. I'd leave him.

Hi rowsus

quick question,

Danger vs Mitchell?

also

Cole vs Duman?

taking into consideration prices
thanks
Hi KMTN,
still Danger over Mitchell, but I'm prepared to wait another week for Danger.

Cole needs to outscore Duman by 9-10/game to out earn him, but I would think Cole has a (slight) edge in JS.
My head says Cole, but if you really can't decide, logic says, you need to take the cheaper option, and take Duman.

Darkie, if I didn't already have him, I'd be quite happy to trade him in this week. He seems like he's priced to his potential scoring, so while you're not getting a bargain, you are not overpaying either.
If he keeps along this path, he will finish the season F4 or better. That would make him not a must have, but pretty useful to have inside the stable!

Thanks Row ... as it turns out, he also suits my bye structure, and is DPP. I think I'll lock and load :D

Thanks so much Row!

Did the X v Y analysis as you suggested and crouch just shades it. Having said that, I am going to roll with titch given a) captaincy options (not just this week) and b) better suits bye structure. Fingers crossed!

Rowsus, hope you are well.

Any prognosis on O'Meara? I still have him and with his BE at 125 his stepping stoneness will halt at least for a few weeks. Shall I hold or trade to Cripps.

Current mids are Titch, Dusty, Fyfe, Crouch (yes I kept him), Coniglio, JOM, Kelly & Finlayson.

Going purely for leagues.

lmcjb, I'm good thanks, and hope you are too.
I had O'Meara as a 90-92 type player pre-season, and if your numbers were similar, then trading him now isn't such a bad idea, as he priced close to those numbers. If you were expecting more, then I'd hold him, as 2 of the next 3 are against Essendon, and Brisbane, and he might kick start his cash generation again, and get up near $470-475k.
If you have any doubts, then don't trade him. The golden rule for League players, is get through the early part of the season using as few trades as possible.

Hi Row, would love to get your thoughts on Seedsman, how do you see him going for the rest of the year? He’s still at a good price if he can continue performing as he has.

Hi Fias,
he's averaging 27 disposals, 1 goal, 4 tackles, 9 CP's, and more importantly 3 RB50's but 6 IF50's, which pretty much is proof of him playing Wing, instead of Half Back. At his price ($429,200) and Ave (94) I definitely think he's worthy of serious consideration. He's only played 75 games, so he's right in that Break Out zone, too.
I think when we do the end of year summaries, and look at the top scorers in the 2nd half of the season, compared to the first half of the season, there will be quite a few different names on the 2 Def lists, and there will be surprising names, that got under people's guard in the 2nd half numbers. There's no reason he may not be one of them!

Hi Rowsus

Parker's become a super frustrating pick and becoming difficult to fix right now without compromising my upgrades. He appears to be spending a lot of time up forward and this seems to have gotten worse with Franklin out. I'm giving some thought to Parker to Jack Redden as a short term fix and to free up 100k (haven't got the exact pricings as yet. EDIT: well i got that estimation pretty wrong, only 50k in the end). Shuey has just done a hammy and Redden seems to be back in the midfield rather than up fwd. Could this sort of move work or am I just making my problems worse? Better to hold Parker and work it out at the bye?

Appreciate your thoughts.

Cheers
B18
