Essendon has officially signed ex-Fremantle ruckman Zac Clarke.
Clarke has signed a one-year deal with the Bombers under the AFL’s new pre-season supplemental period that allows clubs to sign players who have previously nominated for the national draft or been on an AFL list, as rookies.
The former Docker, who was delisted at the end of 2017 after 101 games in nine seasons, will add much-needed ruck depth behind Tom Bellchambers at Essendon following the retirement of Matthew Leuenberger.
“I’m really grateful for the opportunity to play with a club like Essendon and thank them for their belief in me as a player,” Clarke said.

Ex-Docker Zac Clarke has joined Essendon.
“I grew up in Melbourne, so it’s great to be moving back home after 10 years away.
“I’m keen to hit the ground running over the pre-season and want to prepare as best as I can and learn the Bombers’ exciting game style as much as possible from the playing group and coaches.
“I’m looking forward to forming some genuine connections within the club and can’t wait to get stuck into it from Monday onwards.”
Clarke played for WAFL club Subiaco this year and had an impressive season, averaging 39 hit outs, 15.7 disposals and a goal per game.
He also played a starring role in Subiaco’s Grand Final victory with 50 hit outs, 17 disposals, seven marks and a goal.

The signing of the 28-year-old ruckman completes a big off-season for the Bombers following the addition of gun midfielder Dylan Shiel.
“Zac had a terrific year at Subiaco in the WAFL this year, where he featured in all 24 games and ultimately played in a premiership,” Essendon list boss Adrian Dodoro said.
“We feel he has a lot to offer as an experienced ruckman who also has the ability to push forward if needed.
“Zac will be able to give us some additional ruck depth and we’re hopeful he can push for senior selection early next season.”
Shane Mumford (GWS), Mav Weller (Richmond), Corey Wagner (Melbourne) and Keegan Brooksby (West Coast) will also sign with clubs via the new pre-season supplementary rules.

Re the ruck question, is there any love for Kreuzer? Could be the cheap R2 option we're always looking for to o***et the high cost of Gawn/Grundy at R1.

Could any of our Carlton friends tell us how he's going now preseason has started.

Zac Clarke at R3 is pretty obvious too, I’m assuming he'd be bottom priced given his year out of the game at AFL level?

I am sure I answered this before but I suspect they will base prices for Clarke & Mumford on their average when they last played , less a discount , similar to when players missed a full season due to injury.

Can't imagine Clarke or Mumford would be $ 123,900.00.

POSITIONS!!! For those wondering, afl fantasy and supercoach are always the same at the start of the year.

Dangerfield and Heeney absolute locks as forwards now (the fact that Heeney wasn't mentioned implies that he is mid/forward again). Danger certainly opens up the midfield premium decision-making.
Taranto very disappointing, would've been a great forward smokie. Bont probably off the table as likely MID only.
Hoff is an interesting one, could allow us to pick up Grundy/Gawn a bit cheaper.

damn yesterday lost Taranto to M only.

today McCluggage and was hoping Greenwood might be F/M.

please explain how Bennell goes from F to M and Wigg goes from M to D without playing a game this year.

Forget Kreuzer this year, fate has him down for an injury year, just look at his injury pattern, 2 good years, 2 injury years :)

Year Games Average
2008 20 60.0
2009 22 79.3
2010 13 82.0
2011 12 77.2
2012 20 92.3
2013 16 97.9
2014 1 69.0
2015 13 89.3
2016 21 73.1
2017 21 109.8
2018 12 79.8

How on earth is Fritsch a mid when he played predominantly forward and sometimes in defence but very rarely in the mids??
He pretty much played permanently as a wingman from round 8 onwards from what I saw, until round 22 when he moved back. Would've thought 7 games as a forward would be 35 %, but maybe it was 34%!

Wigg as a D might be attractive

You would hope he has a change of fortune and can actually get on the park.

Was some big (media) rapts when he was on the Crows list.

Got retaken as a rookie, along with 3 others so not sure how many they can promote.

Jez McLennan sounds promising and Burgess , Collins & Corbett should be reasonably priced.

Throw in Hanley & Miles could be quite a few options from the Suns.

Yeah, for sure he needs some luck with the injuries, but if fit then I’ll take a close look at him for a spot in Defence.

Don't need to be promoted to play anymore. That got changed this year.
