North Melb.
such a shame he's 188900i have had to ruin my bench to get him in
Ben McKay for me over Collins.

Jordan Clark at D5 - he will play
I know very little of Jordan Clark be great to hear a wrap on him.
Currently running Collins, Scrimshaw, McKay (Hore, Wigg) from D3 as rough price-guide placeholders.

I think Collins has every chance to be a better pick than Roberton/Hanley mid-price types considering he costs 100k less (notice how I did that :p). Tom Doedee was a mature age, intercept marking defender with a very cool head and he averaged 82. If Collins can even average 70 with some spike scores he could still make close to 200k which is rookie enough for me (y)

Untried youngster Tom North shapes a dark horse to debut early in 2019 as Fremantle searches for midfield help for skipper Nat Fyfe, according to rising star Adam Cerra.

Freo will miss Connor Blakely for up to three-months with a hamstring injury, compounding Stephen Hill (quad) and Lachie Neale's (Brisbane) absences. Hill is back running and was kicking a tennis ball at training on Friday, however the silky veteran won't be available before round three...…….

Cerra has trained mainly across half-back in match simulation this summer, but the classy second-year Docker and Andy Brayshaw could be needed to shoulder more midfield responsibility early in the campaign.

Despite concerns over Freo's onball depth, Cerra was confident in the club's stocks, and tipped former Eastern Ranges teammate North, pick 65 in the 2017 NAB AFL Draft, as an unheralded type who could grab an opportunity. The 19-year-old averaged almost 19 disposals in 11 games for Peel last year, and has a rare ability to find the ball in traffic.

"Andy, Brett Bewley is coming in, Stef Giro, Tom North who hasn’t been revealed yet is a solid midfielder and myself. There are still plenty of players who can roll through that role and help to fill it (midfield gaps)," Cerra said.

"I have played with Tom since under-15s pretty much having grown up near him in Melbourne. "He is a big-bodied inside midfielder who has a knack of always finding the ball. He has a lot to show when he finally makes his debut I reckon.

"Last year he had a few injuries and was trying to get that match fitness up to the level. "He has been doing full pre-season this year and hopefully sometime this year he can break into the team."

Cerra had a delayed start to pre-season after pulling up sore from a long 21-game first AFL campaign, but the former No.5 draft pick is feeling fit and strong...……."I've probably added three or four kilograms since the end of the season. "It was a bit frustrating last year, obviously coming off the shoulder (surgery), I think I missed all the training before Christmas and was a bit behind the group. "But this year I'm with the group, full fitness and looking forward for a big year."

The midfielder said he’s expecting to see Fremantle play a more attacking brand of football on the back of the signings of key targets Jesse Hogan and Rory Lobb...……..

Superboot half-back Nathan Wilson was also excellent and nailed a 55m goal on the run, while Taberner's workrate was outstanding.

Hogan (navicular) didn't take part in the full-ground work but his athleticism and ability to work off his man with multiple leads was a highlight of confined-space matchplay. He powered through gruelling running to finish the two-and-a-half-hour session.

Harley Bennell completed some running and kicking work after experiencing calf tightness last week.

Who do you like out of Brayshaw and Cerra as an SC scorer Freo? Cerra as a fwd playing the Connor Blakely hbf/mid role has me thinking he could surprise and go close to 90. I saw him destroy the crows last year and was very impressed and embarrassed all at once! Brayshaw seems more see ball get ball and will likely spend more time than cerra in the guts....
North Bewley Schulz Bennell Cerra Brayshaw.....I am all over Freo this JLT!

Definitely plenty of opportunites (think I had 6 in my starting team a few weeks ago) but I would be surprised if Brayshaw or Cerra become keepers. Bewley seems to be a rookie lock and plenty of Freo supporters were talking up Tom North last year so he might be the next one in line given the injuries. Valente on form should have been a top 5 draft pick as his numbers at junior level were massive. The recruiters usually let a mature bodied 18 year old slide in the draft because they don't think they have much improvement, i.e. Jack Higgins. But it can mean they debut early in the AFL so he will definitely be in my team if named rnd1.

Hmmm cant find the video but the AFL ask the coach series had Dew on there the other day, said their top up players had been performing well but Collins has picked up a knee niggle.

Be nice if he didn’t make round one so we can have a look at him before committing.

I watched Valente play a bit last year and while he has the body for AFL, his tank needs a fair bit of work. He’s also quite possibly the slowest player to ever play footy, and missed the combine through injury which I think is why he might have slid to where he did.

Project player at most clubs I would think, but there might be a spot for him with all your injuries early in the year.

The combine gets mentioned a lot and recruiters must like it for assessing a young players potential but I was wondering if anyone had an article or some data to quantify the real value of it. I seem to recall Simon Black and Tom Rockliff being two players considered not athletic enough for AFL.
Not questioning your assessment of Valente BigRuss and I appreciate the information but it would be interesting to see how the numbers stack up.

Still early on, but I'm gonna raise Burgess 124k D/F as the ideal Floating Donut To Play. GC have a very good loophole draw early on. I've only looked until pre-byes so far, but I've determined that Burgess lets you loophole Dangerfield/Fyfe for the first 5 rounds and should give you a loophole sometimes involving Grundy/Cripps for the next 5 rounds after that.

With his D/F, he might also link up well with other D/F rookies such as Rozee or D.Moore. Could be handy on his own as well as you can pivot him back and forward depending on preferred structures.

If he plays round one, you pick him any way, but just flagging as a potential FDTP.

Carlton veteran Kade Simpson has seen it all across nearly two decades in the game. But when it comes to the No. 1 pick from last November, the star defender can’t find a flaw in Sam Walsh’s game.
.........Simpson said the 18-year-old has left others stunned by his athletic gifts and his work ethic over his maiden summer at Princes Park............
“I’m yet to see a weakness, to be honest,” Simpson said ………..
“He is a serious athlete. He’s up the front of all the running drills; he has explosive speed away from stoppages; he’s got an amazing lateral step; and just a ripping young fella...……. He will slot very nicely into our midfield.”

Walsh isn’t the only high draft pick to turn heads this summer.
…......Will Setterfield ……...Simpson said the 20-year-old will help reduce some of the load new co-captain Patrick Cripps carries.
“He has been really impressive,” he said.
“(He has) just really clean hands. (He is) similar to Cripps the way he will take the tackle and get his arms free to feed off to guys on the outside. That is probably his real big strength. Seeing him work with ‘Crippa’ is going to be exciting.”

While so many setbacks to so many young stars has not been ideal for the Blues, Simpson said it has opened the door for other players to fill the void ahead of Carlton’s season opener against Richmond, which is now only 45 days away...…...
