I’m hearing talk about Setterfield being rested quite often.

Is he worth starting if he only plays 3 games at a time?
He's definitely less worthwhile in that scenario, although his DPP might be handy occasionally.

For me I think it just means his required average score goes up ... so you might take 80, 80, 80, DNP over 70, 70, 70, 70, for example.

Yeah, my only worry is that if he is slightly disappointing and averages around 60, it will be quite annoying that cash gen will be delayed by 4 or so weeks.

100%. He becomes a riskier pick, no doubt.

Agreed. I just don't see how he'd be more worthwhile if he is regularly rested than a cheaper, consistent rookie. Annoying given his DPP.
Interesting. I don’t really see the issue given that he is so cheap, has strong JS and has DPP. First year rookies get rested all the time - does that mean we shouldn’t pick them?

Locked for me if he plays round one.

True, but what happens when multiple get rested at the same time?

Would need to see a great JLT to be in my team Round 1.

He’s DPP anyway, that helps. Multiple rookies could get rested in any case, even without him. You can’t predict these things.

Does James Cousins merit consideration as a "high priced rookie"? Expensive, but clearly a void in the midfield to fill.

Only $ 12,000.00+ more expensive than Walsh.

Other sites have suggested he , Jones , Moore & Worpel could all benefit from Mitchell's absence , certainly worth a look (in my opinion)

It's going to be hard to get a good read on those guys in JLT 1. Unlike most teams, Hawthorn have many of their best 22 out. So expect good numbers from them, but much like McGrath last night, temper the expectations for the season proper.

Yes I noticed when you posted the teams , Hawthorn had 10-12 of their best players missing.

Personally I think JLT2 gives a better indication as to what coaches are thinking , very easy to get caught up in JLT1 "hype" though , imagine if Archie Smith and Darcy Fort both go 100+ as well ?

with Carlisle being out for however long surely Wilkie has to be a good chance
I hope Wilkie replaces Carlise, as my Roberton might be used as a third tall defender and that can't be good for his scoring. Wilkie is on my short list, so I rate him.

Hi Jaca

Have you heard anything about Justin McInerney ? not sure if there is a spot available for him in the Swans defence or not ?

Griffin Logue @ 164k? #8 draft pick in 2016, played 13 games in 2017 (guessing played as the sub a few times with scores of 21, 17, 17, 21 and 38 in there).
Any info on him this pre season?

I shared some of my thoughts back at post #284

In short, he will play if fit, scoring potential the concern

I think the sub may have been gone by 2017, that’s just the way he scored ?

His minimum TOG for the year was 60%, and he had 70+% TOG in all but his first three games. He had some SC shockers despite solid TOG - four of the five scores you mentioned were from 70+%.

afltables is great for this type of info.

Can’t remember a season where there have been so many of the more expensive rookie priced players looking like must haves.

I reckon most seasons I start with one or two that are 140k or over. As it stands, I have seven!

Currrently got the same number pencilled in ... but quite a mix of players that it could end up being though ... ideally want to get it down to less than six ...
