Don’t have Collins. I count ‘rookies’ as anyone priced under Walsh.

I have Moore and count him as a mid-price.

How many ‘keepers’ and rookies on field do you currently have ?
I currently have 6 rookies priced at Walsh and under on field

I also have Moore and Collins

I currently have Smith and Rocky but that could change. Ideally 14 keepers but that depends on how the value guys perform.

It’s hard to avoid Smith types and keep the rookie count at 6.

Some nice looking teams on here have 7 starting rookies

Life has been crazy (starting a new job, getting married, etc.) so I haven't been able to put as much time into my team this preseason. I am getting to a point where I am becoming happy with my team but it needs a little more refining. De Goey and Newman are just place holders for now. Not really happy with either pick, I just don't know who I will pick instead at this stage.

Just wanted to see what you all think and hopefully pick up some feedback. Thanks so much everyone!

Newman to Duursma and see what you do from there to help your forward line

Congrats!

Team looks good. If it were mine, I'd turn Newman into Darcy Moore, Libba into Walsh, De Goey into Gray and use the cash to turn your least favourite rookie into your most favourite almost-premo (for me it'd be Burgess into Billings, but I know that's not to everyone's taste).

Ditto for me, but I'd pick Rocky over Billings :p

Would appreciate any comments.
The rookies are still work in progress, mainly depending on round 1 team selections.
Still debating to spend less in the ruck and more on forwards or another premium mid. I do think the mids will score better than ever this year, so am considering really stacking the mids and filling the other positions later. View attachment 7240
An interesting side, with some notable differences versus others. A few thoughts:

- Some of your rookies could need changing, including Cavarra and Wicks. Check out post 615 here for some excellent info:
https://supercoachscores.com/threads/rookie-discussion.3876/page-31#post-460616
- Most people here prioritise picking the rookies over the premiums (given they generate all the cash to help you upgrade), and many think the mid rookies look comfortably the best this year, so your heavier investment in the midfield could be quite different to others (for good or bad).
- Personally I would trim from your mids to strengthen your forwards. Those five rookies look very weak to me (it's possible I start with none of them - have a look at Setterfield up forward, plus Drew and maybe Balta) and personally I would try to improve on Dahl. Getting Moore forward could also help, perhaps for Collins.
- All of your premium forwards have the same bye, which is not the end of the world but probably not rcommended.
- Your rucks are quite different too, but I don't mind them. Goldy could be a decent alternative to Witts if you have spare cash.
- In general, I think you may have a couple too many $400-500k players. I'd try to upgrade and downgrade your two least favourites, but keep Williams.

Bets of luck, if you make a few tweaks and the cards fall your way, you could have quite a good year.

Congratulations!

Funny you mention those two, I was going to suggest downgrading Newman (maybe to Moore?), and upgrade De Goey with the cash. I think I prefer Whitfield over Merrett as a starting pick too, although that does change your structure a bit. Nice side though, with good premiums and a lot of the key rookies.

Great minds. Definitely get Walsh in my view, that was an omission on my part.

My days of trying to flog Rocky on this forum are officially, finally, I promise, over!
I still remember about 10 years when Sydney didn't get every AFL game live, and before I discovered Fanfooty. Sitting on the laptop watching the AFL Matchcentre lines draw back and forth across the screen. These two young Brisbane boys Redden and Rockliff kept popping up every 30 seconds - and I would think Geez these young blokes rack up a lot of ball.

I thought I was cured of my Rocky sickness, but he's found a way back into my team this week, and there he will stay. Long live the pig.

Amen.

I don't think you're ever cured. Me, I've been one year sober. But I have no intention of staying that way come next Thursday.

It's been a while since I've taken SuperCoach as serious as I'd like to. Work, Family etc, all wonderful distractions. So I'm a bit rusty, but back to do my best!
Any ideas or feedback is very welcome.

Looks solid but surely if you are starting Westhoff then you want a R/F as R3?

I haven't posted my actual team on here yet, so thought it was my turn.

My Team.PNG

Defenders:
As you can see; no Lloyd, Laird or Sicily for me. I think all 3 will be in the top 6 in their position come years end, but I have question marks on all of them. How will both Milera and Smith impact Laird’s scoring? How many brain farts is Sicily going to let rip this year?

I am scared to leave Lloyd (LLLOOOOOOYYYYYYYD) out of the line-up, especially after going at 122ppg post bye last season. The 25ppg increase from the previous year is what has me thinking we might be able to get him at a better price later in the season. Come back to earth slightly? I think Whitfield is a lock and Williams has to much value to leave out... so have gone a little thin in the hope of catching the above three mentioned players a little cheaper later on.

Midfielders:
Cripps
, Oliver and Neale have been in my side from day dot. Steele is my POD pick that I am sticking with, will go up another gear this year. I mentioned in another post that he is in the perfect age bracket and his games in the tail end of last year give me confidence. I’ve decided against Liberator and instead gone with Cousins - which turns B Crouch in to M Crouch – Matt has the better history and consistency. I think he will go 110+ in a much improve Crows outfit.

No Macrae is also daunting, especially considering he averaged 127 with an injury affected game where he was on track to go enormous. History, however, shows that it is unlikely he will keep that output up this year. Will look to bring in.

Rucks:
Grundy
with his interrupted pre-season is just carrying too high of a price for mine. Wanted to go with a cheap R2 in Clarke or Fort with Gawn, but looks like that dream isn’t going to eventuate. Happy to go with Gawn & Goldy.

Forwards:
Dangerfield
and Heeney are locks for just about everyone I think. I had Greene at F4 and several people roll through F3; from Dunkley to Mundy to Gray to Wingard to Worpel and then Kelly – just didn’t feel comfortable with any of them. I have eventually settled on a nice little POD in Darling. Averaged 99 without his injury affected games last season and I think he can finish as a top 6 forward.

Rookies:
I have got lots of wiggle room as I have gone with quite expensive rookies/Cash Cows. Ridley, Cousins, Walsh and Moore are all $200,000+ and I also have 5 rookies over $140,000 (Never had this many in the past)… So depending on round one teams and news between now and then, I’ll hopefully be able to free up some cash... Not really sure what I’ll do with it though as I've been sitting on this team for quite some time now. Anyway, that’s my two cents.

Good luck everyone ?
