I can't see De Goey and Elliott playing last F , think they like De Goey's clearance work (hopefully) and let Beams create and finish.

De Goey is versatile, but I like the idea of De Goey and Elliot in each forward pocket.

Personally I like Elliott in the VFL ?, just hope he doesn't affect the setup too much , love how they left it open last season and rotated 4-5 as the key forward depending on match ups

Dunkley is one of those players names that sounds pretty good at the footy when you shout it. Got to be worth a few points for a screamer in the goal square.

Does Elliott have the mentality to do it and play team structures though ? in the past has had a tendency to do the individual thing and crack the dads.

Beverage said that Dunkley would play mostly midfield with some time forward line at "the start of the year" on SEN. He then explained his philosophy on positions and said that all the players need to be flexible. I just don't want to take the risk, worst case scenario I reckon he plays too much forward time and averages 85 but behind Libba, Bont and Macrae in the pecking order I only see him averaging 95 this year (in all likelihood) with room to score a bit more but the room to also burn you.

Dunkley averaged 77 before being shifted into the middle last year after being dropped after round 9. The prospectus said he was playing as a mid forward at the time but you'd have to think only on a 40/60 split. You'd imagine at the minimum he'd be improved and playing at least more mid time for the year than he was at that stage so his floor should be mid to high 80's. The selection still feels more unsafe than it actually is, maybe just because we know how easily the dogs can change tact.

Very true. If the dogs play him where he excels, should do well. Mercy of the coach we are.

Gray for me. I felt better when I heard he hadn't moved from ther for BigRuss.

All (even Libba) have been used mostly forward at various stages by Beveridge and I don't think there's any reason for that to change now. The biggest issue is that they keep having to try to get enough goals out of various rotating mids because the rest of their forward line won't kick many winning scores.

From what I understand McLean and Dunkley could play more forward to start off, but who knows what they'll do after a few rounds.

Yeah indeed, they really don't have a truly capable forward target outside of Bont when he's playing there, but you remove him and you lose a fair chunk of your delivery quality going inside 50.

Bev said that Dunkley will play mostly as a mid to start with a bit of forward time but I reckon that can change fairly easily.

Even if he starts well I'll be a bit nervous trading him in. He doesn't seem to have the floor of a Robbie Gray (of 90) when playing mostly forward which is a bit of a concern.

Mclean was the one explicitly stated as being used more as a forward in an article though. Definitely upped the prospects of Dunkley as a contested ball winning mid imo.

I'm still constantly going back and forth on TK and Dunkley for F3. I'm certain it'll be one of these guys though.

thing about Dunkley being played forward is he is a terrible shot at goal and overall horrible kick of the ball

There seems to be very little love for Dahlhaus this year. He averaged 91.7, 104.5, 95.7 and 90.7 between 2014 and 2017; before dropping right back to 77.1 last year in his last season at the dogs.

I know Geelong have a very deep mid and mid/fwd team, but for $418k with this history, I reckon there's a good chance he gets back over a 90 average and offers great value for a f5 or f6.
