Yeah, I've gone a bit sour on the floating donut. I just think there are too many good midfield and defence rookie options that I'm finding it hard to justify wasting a spot on a bloke who won't play and won't generate any cash. I understand the big benefits are there and it's a good strategy to use, but then again, it is a double-edged sword and it can backfire. I'm just gonna get another rookie who'll actually play and generate 100-150k and try upgrade my team as early as possible. I'll probably just use Sam Rowe/Daniel Currie to take advantage of the captain loophole where possible. Sam Colquhoun would be my floating donut of choice though.

I think the Floating Doughnut is going to make a massive difference! I think you are putting yourself at a massive disadvantage if you don't have one...

Yes some rounds you may have an unintentional FD but on the weeks you don't, the Captains loop hole alone could cost you 50+ points EASILY! I finished in the top 500 for DT last year and I had Murphy as Captain when he got injured against the Crows (He had two poor games before that and Murphy doesn't string along to many bad games) and I had others dud out on me with 70's and stuff (as i'm sure others did).. but all i'm trying to say is that at the pointy end of the season, with so little points separating the top teams... I think the FD has to be used...

On that note; I hate the rolling lock out... Set and forget was SO much more even... I work Friday and Saturday nights and I tutor people Sunday afternoons... Checking and then adjusting for late changes is going to be way to difficult week in and week out... Needs to be changed for next year...

I can see it being worthwhile for the R4 position although I would rather a squad of 30 that all plays.

Could easily have two players not playing in a round for the def/mid/fwd positions, which means creating a self-inflicted 0 or forced trade.

Agree about the rolling lockout. I only like it for round 1 as its played over 6 days. I think it's just to force people to buy their app.

the dilemna i see with the floating donut is what is an acceptable score for your VC that you keep your floating donut as C. This week i am looking at Goddard or Danger as VC but I have GAJ still to play. I would hate to lock in a score of 120 from my VC then GAJ goes and produces a 160. In this scenario I am 40 points worse off by playing the floating donut. Anyone else got any thoughts on what the par score is for a VC that makes playing the floating donut beneficial.

My threshold is usually 140 for VC and even then it doesn't feel safe with Ablett set to play.

My plan: Ablett VC, Floating donut C with a premium playing later as a <120pt plan.

If not possible just put Ablett as C and don't worry about it.

Craig Moller at 96 k is the perfect donut from now until the end of the year as freo don't play in the first two games for the rest of the year.
