Prefer that as the alternative. If Greene turns out poor/injury etc then a midpricer downgrade etc could fund Greene to R Gray/J Dunkley or T Greene could be the first upgraded after a rookie has appreciated sufficiently. Who is the current 400,000 mid?
Rocky is in there currently.

all the way with Robbie Gray, take a good hard look at yourself young man , thought you were extremely keen on Rocky ?
After Rocks last few seasons I don't think anyone could comfortably say they're extremely keen on him :ROFLMAO:

This is why I avoid Port players, I feel like it's impossible to be objective around players you cheer on week to week.

It's coming down to Gray Vs Dunkley Vs Wallis for my final forward and I just can not split them.
I’m also Gray v Wallis but also Mundy.
Being so uncertain Mundy does look the safest. Has a good scoring pedigree, will at least start in the mids and from what I can remember he had good CBA’s in the JLT. Might just start the old fella as I think he probably has the highest floor of all the options.
At the moment is Mundy, Gray, Wallis for my preference in that order.

no Rocky here for me in SC :-( but I still don't know what I am doing, I have Heater and Pendles as my sentimental picks and Robbie

Heeney, Gray, Mundy, Darling, Moore, Drew/Setterfield (Balta, Parker) is mine

couldn't split the 4 of them so picked them all

Yeah I've been struggling with this pick for most of the pre season, I've had Gray+Rocky/Brouch for the greater portion but the jitters have started to set in.

What do you think about Rocky Vs Greene mate? Your stats turn up anything of note?
Haven't got stats on T Rockliff but I'm sure earlier in 1 of the threads I made note of his low TOG and that his 2nd JLT game was the only time he has recorded greater than 80% TOG at Port Adelaide. I haven't considered Rockliff partly due to the risks on the other lines but I can't remember being burnt by him and the selection depends on the risk on your other lines.

I've had T Greene all preseason with the intention of a quick stepping stone to allow a look at Dunkley/Mundy/Gray hoping he manages an average in excess of 80 over the 1st month and a bit. Assuming he maintains his predominately forward role he still should be integral and score more in the GWS wins but with their tough start and interrupted preseason in comparison to Rocky. Rocky could be the safer option.

Rocks average ToG last year was 71, compared to 83 in 2017 and 81 in 16 discounting injury games. One of the main sources of his upside imo. He looks bloody fit and that JLT 2 game would have done wonders for his confidence.

My side is pretty safe apart from the backline of Whitfield, Williams, Smith & Moore. I fully understand that backline can go cheeks up and derail my season but I really wanted to see how the defenders play out before I commit.

Greene worries me but he could be a pick that we all think "why wasn't I on him?" In a few weeks time. 350k for his potential is an absolute bargain and if GWS weren't so tight with info on him I think we'd either all be on, or all completely off him.

Your work has been top notch this pre season mate, you're by no means obligated to share your info and this seems like as good a time as any to shoot you a thanks. Really is much appreciated.

Did Jack Riewoldt look to be playing his usual role with Lynch in the team or did he look to be roaming more/ having more freedom than usual.
tbh, I couldn't tell by what I saw, I know he looked off for most of the night (found out he just had a new baby) but if Lynch in means he gets a licence to roam it might be worth holding him, the baby thing has me freaked out.

Anyone prepared to predict a top 10 for season average (and just assume your picks all played majority of the season)? Obviously 2 games in but I'd still be impressed if people can accurately predict it still...

1. Dangerfield 125
2. Heeney 106
3. Dunkley 102
4. Darling 100
5. Kelly 99
6. Gray 98
7. Billings 96
8. Hawkins 96
9. Smith 95
10. Franklin 94

For anyone considering Boak that isn’t scared off by his age here’s a little bit of a plus minus regarding some knowledge about him:

Travis Boak

(+) will definitely playing more midfield minutes this year. This is highlighted with Wingard and Polec leaving and Ebert now being pushed into a forward role (confirmed by the coaches at the members convention).

(+) very consistent scorer. Although he hasn’t had massive games in the last couple of years, his really bad games are few and far between (11 scores under 70 in his last 87 games)

(+) super durable. He has played 22, 21, 22, 22, 21 games in the last 5 seasons. Missed just 2 home and away games in his last 110.

(+) he was dealing with issues the last 2 years regarding a bad split with his long term girlfriend. There was a lot of rumours he was struggling mentally and the burden of the captaincy was having an effect on him (see Beams improvement when released from the captaincy and freed up). He has all that weight off of his shoulders now and no expectations regarding his role in the team and the team isn’t expect to do well this year.

(-) Doesn’t have a huge ceiling (8 scores 110+ in his last 3 seasons (65 games)).

(-) age is a worry. He is now 30 and although he is durable there are a lot of miles in his legs.

(-) Hasn’t performed as a premium in the last 3 years and it’s been 5 years since he averaged over 100.

(-) Port aren’t expecting to win many games this year. Although this can be a positive as the team often goes the opposite of what many people expect in the last 4-5 years.

If you’re looking for a reliable 85-95 scorer every week and are taking too many risks across other positions in your team then he looks like a good durable, consistent selection. There is upside with his move back into a more midfield orientated role and he did look very fit and score pretty well in JLT games as well.
Hopefully he keeps this up!

Worpel was one that seemed obvious to me but that 9 games just kept eating at me. Watching him and Daniel very closely next week.

Wines back could change things couldn't they, or are they going to stick with Rocky as the number 1?

Good question. Might also depend on whether Rocky is fit enough to continue to play number one? I gather he is looking fit, but also that he hasn’t played with high TOG consistently for some time.

I have Tim Kelly but included him as a reference point. Dunkley & Mclean not many clearances doesn't look good. Dunkley no clangers probably won't happen again. Worpel seems a bit popular but I might just follow the crowd on this one.

I don't see an immediate urge to bring in some of these ones either ...

Fisher
- Like him a lot ... good role but think it might be a year to early ...

Boak
- Role change is good but I recall his DT:SC ratio being poor
- Ollie to come back in at some stage ...

Worpel
- Opportunity is there without Titch but how long can he sustain it .. hasn't he only played like a dozen games ...
- I think the MID time will be a revolving door to share/sustain the load .....

Wallis
- Can't comment as I really didn't take notice ... another revolving door of M/F options to share the load ..

Yeah I thought Dunkley was supposed to be playing more midfield than McLean but the stats don’t suggest that.

In watching it was similar to the JLT with Bont, Macrae, Libba, Wallis and Hunter being the main 5 used in the middle and then Dunkley, McLean rotating through.

Probably bringing this up a week to late, but Isaac Heeney...seems like a must have/pick him and forget about him...

'Only' averaging 88 since he coming back from missing round 16 last year (including elimination final), 85 in round 1....seems a bit meh...

Horse seems pretty keen to play Heeney forward....I know its probably irresponsible to trade him out...but just taking a leaf out of Herbie's book and exploring all angles...

He feels like a start him and ride it out or don’t start him at all type of players.

1 round in kudos to those that found another viable forward option over him. That was the biggest issue I think, finding as good alternatives with the upside.

Rowan Marshall solo rucking scored 114 this week and the radio guys on SEN said he looked very good.

It was against Bellchambers.

Ironically he is listed as a forward only which is where he played nearly all of last year in his limited amount of games.

He has only played 1 game for that 114 and is priced at $341,100.

Will be a big watch round 3 against Darcy in Perth.

I read that he finished the game with some strapping to his calf, can't remember if it was on twitter, just hold until there's more info.
