Atkins over Butters looks like it will pan out just nicely...

Who knew the Eagles would come out and play bruise-free, disinterested footy on their home patch?

with cousins' ankle and lowish TOG lately i'd take stack
80 is a respectful rookie score, bank it
Cousins has 1/4 scores this year above 80
Hasn’t really played as good a opposition as he will get today yet either.
I’d be leaning towards taking the 80
Cheers all! Think it is probably the way to go with plenty of popular players not going much more than 110 as it is this week.

Those with S Collins take note as there seems to be a scoring pattern developing between him and C Ballard.

S Collins 27,86,79,87,45
C Ballard 105,66,47,48,103

Some of this may be attributed to opponents, matchups, game flow, etc. But the first 5 rounds seems to suggest that only 1 of the 2 will play that SC friendly intercept role whilst the other will occupy a more lock-down role.

Interested to see if this patterns holds for subsequent rounds.

Good observation. Hard to know who to field isn't it.

Mixed bag for me yesterday.
Collins on field takes away, Gibbons on field, gives.
Hopefully Clark and Scrimshaw both score well today but this is rookie roulette so probably get one good and one, not so good.

Yes and No...

Just some of my thoughts and observations (a bit of hindsight involved, but useful nevertheless).

Rd1 v STK: 4K, 1H, 3M

Bruce, Membrey & Kent are all mobile forwards - was always going to be a tough matchup for Collins , plus the STK fast game style preferring to hit up leading options didn't help.

Rd2 v FRE: 9K, 9H, 8M
Taberner, McCarthy & Lobb/Darcy - much better matchup player's wise and FRE tendency to bomb into their F50 gave him more opportunities.

Rd3 v WBD: 5K, 6H, 6M
Schache & Naughton - OK matchup wise, but the WBD butchering their I50's and that game saving intercept mark helped his cause in a close game.

Rd4 v CAR: 8K, 4H, 5M
McKay, C Curnow & McGovern - not an ideal matchup but similar to Rd3, got some important intercept possessions in the last which helped to boost his score.

Rd5 v ADE: 10K, 1H, 5M
Walker & Lynch - no favourable matchup and the game was over at HT, scored accordingly.

Any prediction for this week? Lions coming off some heavy losses. Hooker cleaned up a few weeks ago

McStay or Hipwood looks to be his likely matchup, game will be during the day so no threat of drew to make marking difficult.

When BRI have been playing well this season, they tend to look for short leading targets when going forward rather than bombing the ball. This will really depend on how close the game is after HT. If BRIS takes control early and are comfortable then we'll likely see his score in that lower bracket. I'm predicting an easy win for BRI so going to say something between 55-60 for Collins.

Field 2 out of Butters Stack Ross Gibbons
I would field Butters for sure since he's up against north this round. Gibbons vs Stack for that 2nd one is a bit trickier. Stack has a great scoring role in defence and could score well against dees tonight. Blues might keep Gibbons in the midfield after their first win so I would maybe take a punt on him.

So Butters>Gibbons>Stack>Ross in that order.
