So I’m new to SC but wondering should I be trading my rookies out for new rookies and banking up some cash to secure the premiums. I’ve currently got nearly every player scoring each week incl benchwarmers so should I trade out the likes of
Clarke - Scott - Parker who I think have hit there peak for debutants this week?

I would go Daniel this week and Kelly in the next 2 weeks (if possible) as i don't think Kelly's price should change too much. However, if Kelly does get tagged well, his price could fall a bit. In the long run Kelly should be better though.
Thank you. I think that's what I wanted someone to say just to confirm my thinking haha. It would be the worst feeling going Kelly after having these thoughts about him getting tagged and he came out with an absolute stinker.

Yes but not debutants but players about to play their 3rd game or as some say, on the bubble (Lockhart, Baker, Ross this week for example).

I’m out at the moment but can go into more detail later (if someone else doesn’t) regarding break evens and generally when the right time to move players on is. It’s not an exact science because a big score can get a rookie’s cash generation going again but as a rule, if a rookie’s break even exceeds their average it’s a good time to move them on.

Then there are other considerations to be had like depth on each line and whether there is enough value in the trade.

If you post your team, it generally helps with suggestions as we can see exactly how your team is looking.

Current team

Ruck - Grundy - Goldy ( Sweet)

Fwds - Danger - Tkelly - Fisher - Rozee - Drew - Baker ( Parker - Schultz)

I was thinking of trading out Clarke for W Hayes to grab some cash but open to suggestions I’ve got 171k in the bank and 23 trades left

So I've missed the Melb/Rich rookies because I thought Rotham would be named. Was happy just to do the single downgrade before the carnage hit last night. Now I'm not sure.
1. Goldy to ROB + Clarke up (563k so anyone, but probably Sicily, bench Duursma)
2. No trades
3. Go early on Hayes (for Scott, makes a few $).
4. Upgrade Clarke to B.Paton (237,400) STK.
5. Downgrade Clarke to N. Answorth - most likely atm

Grateful for any advice and sorry I just didn't baker in the dark!

134 BE and against a team historically he doesn't do well against, might be jumping on him a week or two early. He's definitely on my radar for the next couple of weeks.
Agree with ur points but I have other targets in mind for the following weeks so now was the only time to get him! Draw opens up from next week!

I've already done Collins > Baker this week.

Which is the better upgrade?
Scott > Libba - for a midfield of: Cripps, Neale, Oliver, Rockliff, Libba, Walsh, Constable, Stack | Butters, Atkins, Gibbons
or
Clark > Lloyd - for a backline of: Lloyd, Whitfield, Laird, Williams, Moore, Hore | Scrimshaw, Duursma
I think Lloyd is a bit overpriced but he is a lock to be a top def, and I don't think Libba will be a top mid from here. For what it's worth I have Libba (no Lloyd) but brought him in as a stepping stone/outside chance keeper.

Nice side, you are doing well if this is your first time playing SC!

A couple of points that might help:

- I can't see how you can do Clarke to Hayes given they have different positions (defender vs midfielder). You could move Rozee back to defence, but I don't think any of your midfielders can then move forward to fill the gap there?

- Either way, it is considered quite risky to trade a rookie in until they are picked for their third game. It's a week early for Hayes on this basis. As a very recent example, a few people traded in Hately after one good game, but he has now been dropped, so they are left facing a non scoring player and potentially a wasted trade. This is not a great situation, and therefore to be avoided except in extreme circumstances.

On a quick review of your side, I can't see a must do trade this week, so I would err on holding, unless someone suggests something compelling.

At this time of year I prioritise (1) bringing in rookies that should make good cash (those coming into their third game almost exclusively) and then (2) using that cash to bring in players you think will be close to top scorers on their line, but who are not overpriced.

In terms of who to trade out, @IDIG gave a good starting point on this. If you are willing/able to spend $20 on Supercoach Gold (available via the SC site) it is extremely helpful, and makes a lot of the price-related decisions easier.

I will tag @Rowsus, who I suspect may be able to direct you to a good explanation of the pricing system, which is very important/valuable to understand.

Good luck!
