How do you plan for injuries to prems?

Excel allows trade planning down to the last estimated dollar but it can't allow for the unexpected. Particularly difficult as many would have made plans to take advantage of the 3 trades per week the byes allow.
But you know the injuries are coming one way or another, so planning means you have a buffer. If you planned to have 20 on field you can cop two surprise outs without getting a donut. If you haven't planned, the two surprise outs will likely hurt way more. Of course there will always be some douche who did no planning and cops no injuries, or has completely lopsided byes and cops injuries at only the luckiest times, but who wants to be that guy? And long term it won't work.

You will be skyrocketing through the rankings in the bye weeks Herbie!
hahaha my team of outcasts will be pumping out 2700's at ease.

Might be slightly easier for coaches to cover short term Injuries through the byes though.

Grundy getting "rested" could make things intetesting

To be honest I haven't paid any attention at all to the byes so no idea how my team is looking for Rd 13 & 14.

All fair points.

In my best SC year I did minimal bye planning and took players I wanted when their price was right. Other years I have planned and planned and got shafted by circumstances and injury.

I think to have a really good year you need a combination of luck and skill. With the wealth of information and skill out there it mostly comes down to luck imo.

So just a tweet from the unreliable Tony Sheahan re: Whitfield injury so far?

Would want something more concrete than that before even thinking about starting to panic.
Hear, Hear.

Surprised at the reaction and would prefer to hear confirmation from the Giants or a more credible source in relation to GWS issues such as Adam Curley.

Cameron in the post match presser mentioned “He wanted to come back on but we didn’t want to risk him late in the game. I’m proud of how tough he is and expect him to be fine”.

Also a tweet from NRL Physio earlier in the season explaining burners/stingers.

I hope Hurn's 31yr 8mth body agrees with you
Has shown no signs of slowing down this year, in fact is playing just as well if not better than his All-Australian year last season.

West Coast don't play games with injuries... He'll have scans and either be ruled in or out. None of this crap that a few other teams play.

From crows website on Sloane

Crows co-captain Rory Sloane will be closely monitored this week after scans have revealed a minor medial hamstring strain in his right leg.

Sloane sustained the injury in the second quarter of Adelaide’s clash with Melbourne on Saturday night after lunging to tackle and did not return to the game.

“Rory has already commenced his rehab. This involves treatment and loading inclusive of running today,” Crows General Manager of High Performance Matt Hass said.

“Given the nature and location of the injury, and the fact that he was removed from play means he has every opportunity to recover by the weekend so we won’t rule him out of this weekend’s game.”

Hass confirmed Sloane would be reassessed daily and decisions made later in the week with regards to his availability for Round 12.

Doesn't sound like he could play this week, but, Adelaide giving hope and dragging it out to gameday again ala Crouch.

I do agree that Hurn is playing very well (I just traded him in last weekend), but my belief is that older sportsmen are more prone to injuries. I haven't got any stats on that and I wouldn't know where to find the proof.
