Livingstone actually took 14 wickets from 28 overs in this year's Vitality Blast so he might be more useful than I first thought.

Will need to check if he has been bowling in the MSL.

IF Agar goes to India , he might get a bit more of a bowl depending who they sign as injury replacement players for Behrendorff and Tye , all conjecture at the moment until Squads are finalised.

May end up being just another English batsmen that fails to live up to the hype or one worth looking at.
Agar to India ... whoa !! bit lost on this one !!

Just the one over for Livingston so far in the MSL and he got smashed around the park for 18 runs!

Vince, Hales, Agar

Vs

Green, Dwarshius, Paris

I've opted for the more bowler friendly team. Lynn has been in and out aswell but his 3 huge scores in the T10 is very hard to ignore. Have been swapping him and Sams around a lot.
Fair calls. I think bowlers tend to do better earlier on than batsman. Agar v Paris is one I’m definitely tossing up as well.

I’m a little skeptical on Hales and Vince as well but current thoughts are that Hales has two more batsman friendly wickets at Gabba and Geelong. Vince has 5 games in 3 rounds which will make him a popular pick, can say the same about Dwarshuis as well tho. They’re both probably the two most likely to be swapped around for me

Some interesting observations:

Adelaide Strikers:
B Stanlake averaged 51.6 from 15 matches between BBL06-BBL07 before posting 37.9 from 11 in BBL 08.

R Khan has averaged 72.28 from 25 matches and posted 2 uncharacteristically poor scores in BBL08 (7 and a 13).

A Carey’s BBL08 average was a 25.1 decrement on BBL07.

Brisbane Heat:
C Lynn recorded his lowest avg since BBL02.

After 4 consecutive seasons between 47.7 and 48.6, Cutting averaged 63.6 in BBL08.

BBL08 was Laughlin’s lowest SC avg, only season below 40 and 1st time below 45 since BBL01. 5 of 6 seasons between BBL02 and BBL 07 with an avg in excess of 50.

Hobart Hurricanes:
D Short avg dropped by 4.1 (95.6 in BBL07 and 91.5 in BBL 08) which likely would have been quite larger if not for registering 10 wickets.

Q Ahmed scored 251 from 3 (low of 69 and an avg of 83.7) yet is priced at an avg of 51.

Melbourne Renegades:
A Finch has finished with an avg greater than 70 in 50% of the BBL seasons (2,3,5,6)

S Marsh has finished with an avg greater than 60 in 50% of the BBL seasons (1,2,4,5) and only once below 48 (BBL06)

Melbourne Stars:
G Maxwell’s 4th consecutive season averaging 60+ with only 1 season below 60 (BBL04) since BBL03

Perth Scorchers:
A Agar recorded his lowest SC avg from batting (8.7) since his debut season (BBL03) as well as a low strike rate of 79.5, after registering 125+ for 3 consecutive seasons between BBL05 and BBL07.

Sydney Sixers:
M Henriques managed an avg 1.9 SC points from bowling (5 overs and 1 wicket) in BBL08 which was the 2nd time below 10 in the past 7 seasons.

Sydney Thunder:
U Khawaja is averaging an astronomical 102.88 from his past 8 BBL matches (BBL05 to BBL08) and 75.06 from 18 (BBL02-BBL08)

BBL08 was C Green’s 1st season averaging less than 30 SC points from bowling.

Back after an 8 week hiatus and had a lot of catching up to do. This competition last year was easily my best ever fantasy result. Have thrown together this initially. Would love any feedback. I'm sticking with my usual strategy and trying to maximise DGW. View attachment 12897
8/11 onfield players the same and love how you have got 3 Strikers already on the bench to start with

no Lynnsanity either

Adds further to the cookie cutter phenomenon!
Work on the theory of 16 players @ $ 125,000.00 = the $ 2 million salary cap.

Adjust each bench player to $ 62,500.00 then allows 5 players onfield @ $ 187,500.00.

Plenty of viable $ 125,000.00 players imo to start onfield.

Harris will probably be a auto-select on most benches + Green if named , then plenty of room for a $ 80 k bowler on the bench eg Steketee , Agar , Boland , Paris etc etc come to mind.

Jewell might be popular.

Lots of options out their though not to have a cookie cutter bench , some will already have 3 viable Scorchers/Strikers sitting their ready to go.

Don't necessarily need all of your bench to be playing and making $$$ in this format (although it helps) as you don't really get the rookie downgrade options coming along like in AFL SC.

Hope that makes sense.

Good point re the rookie downgrades, thanks - there’s a tendency to take those for granted in AFL (albeit I try to be mindful of it now, the second wave rookies are greatly inferior on average), I hadn’t even thought about that for BBL.

My sense was that a lot of the $120-150k type players are almost as good as many of those who are much dearer, so good to see I might be on the money there. I guess if mid has a shocker they might get 60, whereas if a batsman has a shocker he can get <10, so the scope for players to be underpriced (in season or across season) because of lack of form or lack of opportunity is likely greater in the BBL. The batsmen feel a bit more like KPFs in terms of how you might think about them and approach them.

T20 is the most up and down game there is , specialist batsmen (eg Lynn is just as likely to score 0-10 or 50+.

You are hoping your bowler will take a wkt or 2 and get points for dot balls and Economy Rate but then when the batting side is 2/180 you think *** !!!.

There is actually enough $ 125 k ish players to start that you probably only need 2 more expensive types as VC/C.

As for the cheapies on the bench you could get away with probably 2 non-players and get 2 "solid" bench players if you can work the schedule in your favour for Weeks 1-7.

I remember maybe 4-5 seasons ago when I started a lot of $ 200 k players and within a 4-5 week period they had all halved in price so starting price is no guarantee of success , Khawaja , Lynn , Henriques , Ross all get the same points if they make a ?, although obviously the higher the starting price the more success you are expecting (and hoping).

I am sure you will get the hang of it , just need to use the schedule and not be afraid to trade premiums in and out which is a completely different scenario to AFL SC.

Key Players Stats for ALL 8 TEAMS are now complete.

I can do any other players (which is not covered) upon request, provided that they have some BBL history.
Thanks for providing all of that info , I am probably going to fall for the trap , but could I request Alex Hales please.

And secondly does your stats go as far to show how many of Fawad's wickets have been taken at Spotless in comparison to other venues (if too much of a hassle no problem)

Cheers

Thanks mate, great colour. I think I’m making a bit of progress (and enjoying) figuring out some of the similarities/differences from first principles, but I appreciate all the pointers from everyone to help speed up the process!
