So I’ve gotta leave out 2 of:

Neser, Qais, DC, Mujeeb, Weatherald, Fawad.

If Sutherland doesn’t play I’ll be able to loop one of them.

Who would you leave out?

Edit: nevermind. Have decided to bring In Labuschagne in over Weatherald to loop Qais into DC. Leaves me with 4 dgw players for next week at this stage, with 3 more to come in the following week. 5 already for the 13 dgw.

DC and Mujeeb, I think game is high rain risk

Radar is clear for Brisbane already, not sure tonights going to be affected in the end. View attachment 14734
The threat beggining now, already storms are forming in the area and they will hit brisbane, best case scenario is they come earlier rather than later and the game might be ok, Gabba drainage is brilliant

Just thinking out loud for the benefit (or detriment) of all....

The game at UTAS earlier in the year was rained out, but in the limited overs they played it appeared that it was not a great track for batting, and favoured the quicks over the spinners. This has me settled on my Neser tradein but getting cold feet on Weatherald and Wade. Will probably bring in one of them next round, but probably can’t get both if I don’t get one now.

Considering trading in Christian, but only having one good game all year has me balking. He really took those wickets more due to the intense scoreboard pressure the Thunder were under than his own skill and it will be hard to repeat unless conditions are similar. Plus he will back to being Finch’s red headed step child by the time his DGW comes around and might not get many overs. Really it’s just the price point and low break even, but I’m not that strapped for cash and I’m not sure he’s the best option when I am chasing points.

Miller is interesting. I follow the law of averages in this game, and boy is he due! Surely an international of his reputation cannot fail for every single innings? The luxury here is I can trade a doughnut like Kerr to him for free and keep him on the bench, or an unused benchie like Bancroft to make a quick 50k. he is so cheap I could just loop him during his DGW next round and not lose any potency from my team.

For a Smokey I like Clive Rose. They have really been giving him the push lately, and he has responded with wickets in power plays and generally just outshining international man of mystery Qais. With a DGW game at Marvel it might be a big win for me to have both Canes spinners (already own Ahmad), and he can always find a few extras with the bat if Hobart it for their signature collapse.

Lastly I have been thinking of getting Harper simply because I can loop him off the bench with Philippe for future rounds. Two boom or bust players trying to cover each other’s short comings, I like the philosophy of that. And with some huge names coming back in the next two rounds (Short, Carey, Finch, Richardson) and some DGW must-haves still not in my squad (ABD, Lynn, maybe Mujeeb?), it’s clear that if I don’t pick up a player like Harper now then it just won’t happen at all. He has the potential to be the highest scoring R12 player if he goes off and it would be hard to miss out on that for $120k.

Are Sams, Stoinis, Curran, Morris, Maxy all as valuable as DGW players?
I have all but Curran and Sams.
Tempted by Sams at least.
Thinking also I’ll just hold Stoinis and wear the $ hit if it happens in case he goes big, but then could use him for Sams.
Still on Fawad, Green and Rauf for Neser, Qais and DC. Not convinced if e.g. double Qais is better than Sams.
It's worthy of consideration, but the tradeoff will only be a good one in quite select cases in my view, especially as the DGRs become imminent.

There are 20 players who average 50+, and 31 who average 40+, from the four DGR teams alone. There are only five players who average 80+ in the comp, with two of those small sample, two unavailable, and the other one being Rashid, who everyone should have anyway.

I considered trading in a Curran type because if he averages seventy that might be good enough to match or beat a player with one double, but at his price it's probably not a good tradeoff.

Good points. Thank you.
I think I will stick to the four teams as best as possible. Just got to decide on Stoinis now.

Great post , if you go further down the 20th best averaging player is Carey/Fekete with 61.

Maybe our expectation of 50 per player per score involvement is too high.

Like you said even those DGR players averaging 35-40 theoretically should be matching scores of most of those SGR players.

But then just when you think you understand this game guys like Coleman , O'Connor , Maddison etc pump out 100+ scores out of the blue.

You load up on DGR players and it never seems to work every time so just got to find that right balance.

Just got to prepare yourself as best you can , hope for the best and pray their are no more rain affected games.

I think that’s right - play the percentages, but bear in mind that almost all of them are <100%!
