Missed lock out and ended up with 3 donuts on my batting line and Hinchcliff in the bowling line! Managed to scrape together 737 points which surprisingly only saw me drop 5 places to 252nd
I know it wasn’t the intention of your post but this just illustrates how badly I went this round!

You must’ve nailed the rest of your picks (y)

wow that’s a great score considering. Sometimes I wonder if I think way too hard, had good loops setup all round, my opponent (my nephew the little t#rd!) even played Curran, fielded wade and still beat me!

Some Saturday morning coffee research on matches at Adelaide Oval this year.

The team batting first has won 5/7 matches

In both matches where the team batting second won, the team batting first was bowled out.

Average runs
Batting First: 165
Batting Second: 151

Average Wickets:
Bowling First: 5.7
Bowling Second: 7.1

Average total SuperCoach:
Team batting first: 510
Team bowling first: 444

I've decided to completely eschew thinking for this round and just go with the averages of games between these two teams. Which gave me this somewhat-surprising looking lineup:

Head, Wells, Weatherald, Khawaja, Ferguson
Carey
Sams (c), Khan, Morris, Siddle, Nair

Head actually hasn't played the Thunder all year but he's in as a wild card. Could do the same with Neser but it would be in place of Siddle and I'm not prepared to be burned like that again...

Fun fact: the top scorer in said games is actually Callum Ferguson, and his innings in the first game was cut off by the smoke!

We’ve seen a bucket load of rain in Adelaide through the night so not sure how that maybe affects the pitch or outfield but I’ll be running all the opening batters and bowlers as best I can guess.

Thinking of fading Rashid..?

recent form would suggest RK19 is not the biggest lock people think he is

Bowlers Round

Morris 122 , Hales 115 , Khawaja 93 , Sams 91 , Ferg 58
Philippe 44
Cook (C) 131 , Zampa 128 , Abbott 116 , Hazlewood 100 , SOK 98

= 1227

4 of them cost < $ 100,000.00 individually ?
I’m actually a little surprised only 2 teams managed 1000+ with the top scorer scoring almost 200 less than the max team. With only 4 teams in action, thought it would be closer.

In hindsight you could almost make a case for all of them , except Cook ?

Every round it seems to happen that one or more of the less "brand name" players throws up a 75-100+

T20 is so unpredictable

Highlights again that the more expensive players are not necessarily the best scorers each and every round.

The cookie cutter team for tonight looks too simplistic , just need to find those 1-3 exceptions that will outscore them and take the punt.

That’s the beautiful thing about hindsight lol

At this point with only two teams in play and free rein of selections, it seems like getting a good score is more based on being able to predict how the match as a whole will play out. Which is why my score fell over a bit last night - I thought the Stars would chase 140 in a canter!

It's actually a pretty good tactic. Salts record against the Thunder 0(11). Sams got him both times. Might skip him.

You did not have preview to this prior to committing to your selected players before the game. All we knew was that Sixers were batting first and that there was a slight risk of rain later.

Based on that, most coaches would've favoured Sixers BAT & Stars BWL for their remaining on-field spots. With Philippe taking up the WKP spot; Smith, Stoinis, Maxwell, Abbott, Rauf & Zampa would've formed the core of most teams. I went Henriques & NCN in lieu of Smith & Maxwell.

The other factor which would impact your overall score (in comparison to others) is to do with how successful you were at looping Hurricanes/Thunder players. Those that managed to snagged 2-4 successful loops means that their option for last night's game would be limited to maybe 5, whereas coaches who were less successful could chose say 7.

Those with 5 would more than likely have Smith, Stoinis, Maxwell, Rauf, Abbott/Zampa...just because they could and it looks nice.

Those with 7 (and more than likely with restricted funds) could've shopped around for a SOK, Lyon, Hazlewood instead.
