Any Roos supporters have a view on Bonar $200k M/F? I had thought Roos had a few similar types like LDU, Ahern so JS could be iffy or has Bonar gone past them?

Supporter training report from a recent NM training session.

Game was 4 x 10 min qtrs. or there abouts, so only around 30% of a normal game.

Was around 6-7 VFL players playing, multiple players probably playing out of position as a result. So don’t take positions as gospel.

Players that didn't play - Goldstein, Campbell, Ziebell, Tarrant, T.Thomas, Anderson, Jacobs, Polec, Dumont, Hayden, Perez, EVW, Will Walker and Matt McGuiness.

Bonar & LDU – The good mates played with each other out of the square against Cunners, Higgins and Simpkin. LDU started like a behemoth. Kicked the opening 2 goals, almost kicked a ripper 3rd late in the game. He looks noticeably leaner, noticeably faster over the ground. Lateral movement etc is even quicker than previous years. He’s clearly A LOT fitter. Set to really step up in 2020. Kicked 2.1 and had 10-15 touches from 40 mins playing on Higgins.

Bonar: Yeah, people should readjust expectations. This guy is right in the frame for Rnd 1. He’s going to play the Anderson, high pressure midfield role. He’s a battering ram, was under every pack, was too quick for some players cutting off lateral passes, ended up probably with 15 odd touches from 40 mins of game time – which was very good going. He’s the most magnificent penetrating kick, when in space was kicking 50-60m drop penetrating drop punts to advantage (i.e what McDonald thinks he can do….). He’s going to play all of the pre-season games and I think it will come down to Anderson vs Bonar type as the last midfielder. His advantage is his size and speed makes him a real point of difference at stoppages.

I acknowledge that we need to wait for the JLT, but which Rookies are assured of a starting R1 berth for their respective teams based on the information we have right at this point in time...?

For me, it's the following based off training reports and commentaries thus far...

DEF: Young
MID: Rowell, Pickett, McHenry
FWD: Cockatoo, Rankine, King

Any others which needs to be added to the above list...?
I'm sure I read something not too long ago that put me off McHenry to some degree - can't for the life of me remember or find what it was though. Maybe something about injury or coach's opinion on how far he is away from AFL football?

Tom Williamson blues fans?

Seems to be rated highly internally..
A SC playing, Blues supporting friend of mine is very bullish on Williamson. He reckons they love him at the club and last reports are that he is looking really good in pre-season.
Currently in my team, but having said that, my mate usually finishes around 50k and is a one - eyed supporter sooooo take from that what you will ?

@THCLT just looking the lists of players above and a few thought came to mind:

1. Serong - was a high pick and my understanding is that he is a likely midfield type with the following draft profile “Prolific ball winning small midfielder / fwd with his one touch marking overhead and clean hands at ground level features of his game” He is priced at $175k and its a bit of a concern that he may play up Fwd, but I’m surprised he is only in 5% of teams and also hasn’t really been discussed much around here. Is there something I’m missing here?

2. Schoenberg - Pick 24 Adelaide - “ Medium midfielder who wins the ball exceptionally well in traffic and is very creative, particularly by hand, using his elite decision making and vision to set up his teammates” . Not on your list above, but is he someone we should be adding to the watch list as well? (3%of teams)

As a general note, I really like the list above showing which games the likely rookies play in the opening round as it helps manage my stress levels in the lead up to lockout ?

You can probably combine Thursday and Friday mate, and change Saturday for Friday for the actual team announcements and sunday final teams. Great work though, just showing the off season has been too long
