Ive sat, read and researched for the last month, and have now created my first pre JLT team.
DEF: Houston, Docherty, Doedee, S. Hill, Starcevich, McLennan (Rivers, Gould)
MID: Macrae, Kelly, Cripps, Dunkley, Treloar, Oliver, Rowell , Pickett (McHenry, Robertson, Mead)
RUCK: Grundy, Naismith (Cameron)
FWD: Whitfield, Martin, Brayshaw, D. Smith, C. Jones, Cockatoo (Rankine, King)
Naismith doesn’t face GG until post byes, and 450k saved allows me to strengthen other areas. I don’t like many of the premo backs, the 2 im considering are Laird & Daniel. As a dogs fan, I rate Daniel from a supercoach role perspective but soft tissue injuries at his age and size aren’t ideal.
Im very surprised at Treloars ownership (8%), and think his post bye scoring last year is a sign of things to come, as his AF and SC scoring start to even out. I’m vary of Danger (with Rowsus’s old analysis in the back of my mine about dropoff after a certain age). Oliver has two taggers the first two rounds but even with last year’s drop he still developed in a few key areas stats wise and I think he’s a very low risk pick with big potential upside.
I had Brayshaw on my watchlist and then read the stats on his scoring when TOG is above 75% (91.8). All 4 of those games were post bye last year, and he’s improved his tank again it seems judging by Freo’s time trial. I can’t ignore Dev Smith at that price regardless of role, and I think 271k for Chayce Jones is a steal, hopefully doesn’t turn into last years Moore in terms of ownership.
Obviously there’s a lot of risk in this side with injury returners and speculatives but I’m happy to take these risks. Would love some thoughts.
