Pizza safety and Bomber18 can you give us ur opinion on the bombers midfielders from a non SuperCoach point of view? My take is that u need some better ball users to get more game time through there. Can you see parish and McGrath getting more minutes or do u think they will go with similar splits.
Re midfield splits, I think maybe other than Shiel and Zerrett, there could be a fair bit of rotation with the mids. Stringer/AMT I think will get rotations in the CBs during critical stages. Heppell and Zaha are quite underdone this preseason so could get used in other roles (although we’ll need more intraclub/preseason games to know for sure where they are at).
McGrath being talked up for mid time as he has been for most years. Hard to know but I am starting to wonder if the dons are better off developing him into that gun HB (which was where he was prolific as a junior). I think he may rotate with Heppell a bit between Def/Mid.
The coaches have honestly butchered Parish’s development. They have changed his role constantly: outside mid, inside mid, half forward. It will be interesting to see if he gets a settled role this season but I couldnt touch him in SC without a clear indication of role. He did quite well in an inside mid role last season but then we pushed him back to the HFF to let DClarke in the CBs as a tagger.
DSmith is the one most are interested in. I don’t really see his mid time suffering so much that he becomes a full time small fwd like he was at GWS. Let’s not forget that he broke the tackles record in 2018, he offers that manic pressure around stoppages more so than any other player. We also have AMT/Fantasia/Stringer types up forward when needed for forward pressure so I think DSmith will get sufficient mid time to be relevant. Not expecting 100 but 90-95 avg at 330k is more than enough.
