With $100 in the bank and Jackson Mead out, I had to dig into my side, yet I have persevered. Ignore the 8 premiums missing in Round 13. At M4, Dangerfield is switched to Oliver. Mahony goes from FWD bench to MID bench. Rankine goes from F6 to FWD bench. Jackson Mead is traded to Nakia Cockatoo who slots in at F6.

First things first, you captain loophole is set wrong, Grundy plays first. Now for the serious comments.

I think TJL is the real deal this season. I can see the two averaging the same. I think Lloyd brings too much risk for the $. This frees up $300k. I'd look to spen $120k on Sier. Perhaps some more on Maginess to Williamson (Carl). And Bonar to Smith if and iff he trains with the mids and has good cba in preseaon. If that doesn't happen not delete everything I said. I really like this team.

Welcome comments your good self and the community on this... which kinda sits at the other end of the spectrum in terms of risk to yours. $15.7k free

After many changes tinkering under the hood, I have settled for this even though I would like Tom Lunch and Rayner in the forwards.

I downgraded Lloyd to Docherty and upgraded to Ash to Houston.

Downgraded to Gaff from Kelly (GWS), Gaff may not have the scoring ceiling but a better reliability and who knows Tim Kelly (WCE) may increase Gaff average in 2020.

Too much cash for mine. Too many expensive rookies. Means your premos are struggling.

I hate rookies challenge accepted. No '0' games players, 18 players over $240k. (no gold sub atm, so some popular pics in there).

Modified my earlier sub $550K team to also include popular picks (I previously limited it to those in under 10% of teams). Decided to pick a bench too, rather than filling the benches with $102,400 players. Only 4 rookies on field.

Probably not enough Hawthorn players :)

No idea on rookies that will get named yet, so they could easily change but I don't mind the team overall.

I could possibly swing Dusty in there somewhere too. I would have included De Goey until I saw his picture in the paper today from when he returned to training - put on quite a few kgs over the break, and it wasn't muscle.

There is a lack of clear captain choices in this team, but you would expect that.

Whatcha mean? Blue = VC.

Sure, I don't mind TJLynch as midpriced fwd option. But you cannot seriously come into my house, and tell me, that he, a key position forward, is as a good a pick as the #1 defender for the last two and a half years. My heart cannot take the SLANDER.

And then, whilst I am writhing in utter agony, flashbacks of Jack Darling F3 wracking my body, you hit me with a mid-pricer in the Midfield.

I was honestly too shocked to even register Devon Smith at F4.

____

In all seriousness, although I don't mind Lynch, and I'm eeh 50/50 on Devon Smith, I'm definitely shying away from midpricers.

But my goodness. Imagine saying TJLynch will average the same as Jake Lloyd. I shudder to think...*

*I shudder because I could plausibly see it happening. Improbable, but Lynch could squeeze up to 100 avg.

Still reckon it's more likely that Lloyd avgs 20ppg more though. (Sort of agree on Lloyd being overpriced though. I just have him to flex on those who have 3 midpricers.

Okay, sorry, I took a few breaths, and I've sort of calmed down.

One thing that I don't like is picking too many midpricer value/breakout picks. I feel there's a little too much riding on ALL of them going right.

Individual, I can definitely see the value in any/all of Lynch, Smith, Dawson and Houston. Nic Nat is a big gamble but we all have our own ruck preferences.

I'd probably take out two of the Smith/Lynch/Dawson types, swing Whitfield forward (Premium forwards are hard to come by), and pick up an ultra elite midfielder.

I think you can afford one mid-pricer at F4/D4. Whilst more definitely looks good value, it'll probably lose out as the midpricers might get between 10-15th best on a line when others are upgrading rookies top 8 on a line.

Whoops yeah blue is VC my bad!

Please don't calm down it makes thoughts crystal clear! I can handle being told I'm so far out of bounds I don't have ticket and can't even see the stadium.

As an avid Lloyd owner over the past two years I can understand the attraction. I was adament on him last year where many said he'd had a spike year. His second half of last year does not justify the price...I think there is real risk you are paying D1 $ for a D6 or thereabouts. Dawson and Rampe both improved scoring as Lloyd lost out. So yeah, keep that flexibility for when you find something you like.

Devon Smith I'm very 50/50.... Steven a no...

I agree mid pricers are death. I started last year with 14 premo's. I found it able to upgrade to uber premo in reasonable time. I'm concerned that starting 13 won't mean full uber premo for too long... Welcome your experience. B/c, last year excepted I've been a 17 non-rookies try get a fast start kinda team...which inevitably fails if the pure teams even so much as keep pace and with rookie roulette you can find yourself behind anyways! Have you started 13 premos before?

Yeah, the ruck preference is pretty much where I started my team. I'm set on this combo baring new info.

Looking at the defenders....I'm real worried. Hurn/Sicily are the only premos I think I can pick with any certainity. I'm happy Houston can tonne up, and think Dawson can go F5/6 range.

I like you are super 50/50 on Devon Smith. I might just run Sier and bank the cash! Though it does drop me from 15 to 14 potential premos... perhaps the cash will be worth it.

That leaves me with 4 'risks in Nic Nat, Lynch, Dawson and Houston. It's probably enough (sorry need more emotion in that to be clear....probably enough to ruin my season by round 7).

Yes Whitfield will be forward as soon as the first foward rookie is culled. Will keep working on a a premo mid... it would be nice but my list is short.

I definitely wouldn't trust Hurn. Reckon he and Houli drop out of the top dozen defenders in 2020. People have suggested Zac Williams. I'm okay with him, but I'm not jumping at the bit to select.

Reckon Laird is the safe pick a bit of upside. If you're really ballsy, Nic Newman perhaps.

My issue has been the opposite. I'm always looking for value and picking players like Jack Darling instead of spending well on proper premiums. Picked Jack Steele and Kade Simpson last year, for instance. The year before, I had Petracca and Billings.

So I had '14' keepers, but only 10 or 11 were actual premiums.

This year, the biggest risk is probably Houston, and I've still got 12 players who would not be out of place as the elite on their lines. My expensive rookies will ideally hold the fort and appreciate well and easily reel in those who pick midpricers who stumble around mid 80 scores.

Discounted Players Team - Just a fun team
(1. Exception Capt Grundy. 2. Capt looper not needed, as odds are that someone will be short term injured. 3. And needed to have links on all lines, in case someone will be short term injured)
Hoping the players will play at least 3 games to make money :)

Have I missed anybody worth including?

We are on such different wavelengths. Houli was one I put in an early team, not sure of Shorts role this year. Laird has never graced a draft team b/c Smith. My rationale behind Hurn is basically he'll keep getting the 'kicking the ball back in' bonus. Why does Hurn drop off? Is it improvement in WC meaning less ball down his end? It's feasible and why he's not locked in my side atm.

Actually we do agree on something... Newman requires balls.
