I think Rowell is a must have rookie so option one for mine. If Doedee can end up being a keeper then that would be a huge win over that second combo. In saying that, I do like both Lyons and Walsh as picks and I think they are both a chance of producing premium numbers this season.

I think the difference is I rate Rowell a lot less than many, mainly because he is playing for the Suns.
I posted back somewhere else, the BEST Suns mids last season averaged high 80s. On the other hand, in the games where Walsh got a ton in 2019, Cripps averaged something like 140.

Rowell won't have a bull like Cripps shovelling him out ball - he'll be in a midfield getting smashed every week. I think he averages 65-70 personally but I'm holding some judgement until we see him play some preseason games.

Bennell , Bytel , McHenry , Simpson , Mahony , Rivers all seem to be the popular placeholders in people's RMT , I guess it is a waiting game to see if any are viable and named Round 1.

Hopefully Greenwood helps improve the Sun's although now with Miles injured that sort out of cancels it out.

I like the perceived JS that Rowell should offer so currently have him pencilled in , at his price easier to go down than up.

Also waiting for the Marsh games to give us some guideline.

Swallow , Fiorini , Miller , Miles certainly doesn't scream out A + though , hopefully Bowes & Brodie develop , throw in MacPherson & Weller.

It's kind of why I'm looking at some deeper structures, to see what balances and what doesn't. If we're short good mid rookies, I go Walsh and Lyons, if we're short enough def rookies I pull in Doedee to D4.

The first is more traditional GnR (ish) in that it packs a top line mid but the left over cash finds it's way into Doedee and Rowell who I'm not sold on at all.

The second gives me speculative M5, M6 who if they fire early actually makes it look like a proper GnR, for a certain definition of 'gun'.

I prefer option 1 - real gun, Walsh Mk 2 and a player that should average 70+ min. I would pick any of the 3 Dogs over Lyons. Doedee should outscore most 123K rookies. Comes down to how much Walsh outscores Rowell by, I don't think by enough to make up the difference from the other 2.

This one is tough. Based on my estimated scores option 1 would be very slightly ahead in scoring but it is a lot riskier. I'd probably have a go at option 2.

Houston, potentially on the cusp of 95 ave which should get him top 6. unless you can use the money else where to take some up or top up rookies who are unlikely to likely players. .

I currently have both.

First combo seems less punty to me. Not sure how I feel about the Dawson and Lyons selections, I don't feel cosy with either in this moment.

I agree with this. I strongly prefer the players in the first option (I have Neale and am switching the latter two in and out), but I’m not sure I love having both Doedee and Roberton unless you expect at least one to be a keeper, or it’s literally your last $150k or so that gets a rookie up to your second favorite.

Personally this looks to me like a year where there is no need to speculate with mid starting picks.

Thanks. I tend to agree with this view also, however I am considering whether it is better to start with Houston or possibly starting Doedee along with the extra cash in order to facilitate post round 1 changes if needed. This approach has pros & cons so I’ll need to think about it further.

Can't really say much about rookies until we get closer to round 1, but Young looks like he'll be a certainty to play whereas Starcevich is a 'maybe'. So option 1 ATS
