One of those interesting stats that catches your eye. However in 2017 his non Marvel ave was 12 pts higher that at Marvel. In 2018 his Marvel ave was only 1 pt better than away. And last year in his spike year his Marvel record was 7pts better than non Marvel.

Or perhaps look at it this way. In 2018 he played 2 games at the MCG and 2 at Optus both larger grounds. His ave for these venues was 94 or 14 pts higher than at Marvel. In 2019 he again played 4 games between those venues and his ave was 109 or 7 pts higher than at Marvel.

So dem dare stats, they tell a twisted tale depending on how you look at them.
Agree, trying to pull any real conclusions from such a small sample size is a waste of time imo.

Unless a player has been playing the same role at the same stage of their career for at least 3 years you have to ignore these kinds of stats unless they are significant.

It just doesn't allow for so many other variables like age, role, opponent, win/loss etc.

Anyone else finding the defensive line the hardest to choose from? There seems to be a huge mix of potential top 10 players and a lot of "break out" types like Houstan, Blakey, Hunter. Certainly in the other positions, there are a clear number of players likely to be top 10-15.
Finding the midfielders way harder to choose tbh.

There's a pool of about 8 premium midfielders that I am looking at for 5 available spots. The great thing is that we know roughly what to expect given their scoring history or their scoring potential (as demonstrated from previous years e.g. Oliver, Dunkley).

Totally different role though right?

I’m trying to choose 5 from 14 midfielders so proving very difficult at this stage.

Whereas with defenders I’m only really looking at 5 or 6 options for my starting team and will pick 3 or 4 of them depending on structure.

Houli shaping up as a premo POD at this stage. I know age is against him, but as someone pointed out, a long string of MCG games where he has a great record, playing in a premiership side, and coming off 2019 where he scored 15 tons out of 22 games. Hard to argue with those stats. Surprised he's not in the Laird/Sicily/Lloyd conversation.

Been playing with Too Serious again

If Houston averages, he will be priced after his Bye :-

90 = $ 457,610.00
95 = $ 479,323.00
100 = $ 501,040.00

If Docherty averages, he will be priced after his Bye :-

90 = $ 449,813.00
95 = $ 472,141.00
100 = $ 494,469.00

if Doedee averages 75 he will be $ 366,253.00

if Roberton averages 75 he will be $ 361,571.00

Houston + Docherty = $ 920,900.00 v Doedee & Roberton = $ 534,100

Will always have a soft spot for Houli after his performances last season, win some and lose some but I agree, he's right up there looking at his MCG record.

Gee there's a tough choice between Laird, Sicily and Houston now in terms of selecting premo defenders with upside.

Tried a few different combos and it looks like it will hinge a bit on what happens with Gawn strangely enough.
I agree, I'd love to start Laird, Sicily, Houston and Doc. Would also like to squeeze in Ryan, Daniel and Houli and that's without Lloyd hurn, Williams, Stewart and Dawson in the equation. Risk and VFM probably leaning towards Laird and Sicily as they have previously shown premium scoring but the new role for Houston and cheaper price brings him right in to the mix.

For this to happen it means for me dropping a mid premium to only go in with 4 premium options and a Sier type maybe at M4 but that I'm not sold on either, would've been good to have Sicily available as a forward.

Maybe I'll sneak Houston in to the mids for the run on team and look at Jack Steven if fit enabling me.

Williams is currently priced to average 105. As you said, when playing in the backline with Whitfield playing, he averaged 91, hmmm, so that indicates to me that Williams is over priced to start with.
But, if Williams is selected as a Keeper, then I think he could be a top 6 defender, so a good selection.
I'm a bit confused, he averaged 91 with Whit but Whit played off HF?

Prospectus says he played defence til round 15 and then mid-forward/wing the rest of the year. 97.25 average in those 8 games.
Starting to consider him now, but still feel more comfortable with others. Shares bye with GWS, Dogs and Laird, so that last bye is shaping up to be a nightmare

Williams averaged 91 in the games where both played full games and he was in defence. They used Williams more often as he would stream off half back up the field when Whit was not there. Whitfield started centre bounces at half forward but would immediately run to the wing and would often play a positionless uncontested role across the whole ground post centre bounce and players would consistently look to give him the ball. When he was not there they tried to use Williams.

You need to take it with a grain of salt though as most of these poorer scores were in the 1st 5 rounds after Williams had barely played in 12months

On Brodie I think he becomes an option if there's an injury to another player but you have to pick Sicily, Houston and Docherty before him. He did look pretty good in the midfield last year.

It's obvious how much better DEF n FWD looks running 4 premo mods but everytime I do it it doesn't last for me....M5 finds a way back in
