Why is he a lock when we don't even know if he plays Round 1 ?

Not sure how WCE stack up for VC/C loop.

The only other D/R is Nyoun (Richmond)
Who - I need to research some more it seems :(
Not back up to Nic Nat in the future, to play alongside him...............................Vardy and Hickey in rehab, although expected to be back over next month.

Uncapped second-year ruckman Bailey Williams is shaping as the surprise ruck partner to West Coast superstar Nic Naitanui after a strong showing for the ‘probables’ team in yesterday’s intra-club match at Mineral Resources Park.

Half-way through the more than two-hour session, the Eagles split the teams into what appeared to be the most likely line-up for round one and a team made up of the rest of the squad.

In the absence of key forwards Josh Kennedy and Jack Darling, Williams lined up in the goal square alongside forwards Jake Waterman, Jamie Cripps and Liam Ryan.

The 19-year-old then spent time in the ruck, working alongside exciting recruit Tim Kelly, captain Luke Shuey, Andrew Gaff, Jack Redden, Dom Sheed and Mark Hutchings in a preview of the Eagles’ star-studded midfield capabilities.

Williams was drafted from Victoria with pick 35 in 2018 and spent last season in the WAFL, where he averaged 10 disposals and 15 hit-outs in 20 games.

The bulked-up Williams’ most impressive moment was a chase-down tackle on defender Tom Barrass early in the game which led to an easy goal, while he also leapt over teammate Tom Hickey at stoppages.

Kelly got better as the session went on, with his slick skills in heavy traffic and his speed out of the contest standing out. At one stage, Naitanui fed Kelly from a centre clearance, allowing the All-Australian midfielder to sprint away.

Former Geelong forward Jamaine Jones impressed as he looks to win what could be one of two vacant spots on the Eagles’ list.

New captain Shuey was on managed minutes, while Sheed spent time at half-forward.

Bonar jury is still out. Thomas and LDU plus others in front of him, i cannot see a inside role for him. Needs to avg 80+ to be of any value.?
Thomas looks set for a Big Year.?

Sparrow NO.

Frampton is on the fringes of my squad of FWD Rooks but Himmelberg, Mc Adam and Stengle look to be the contenders for the FWD Spot left open from Eddie departure.

I like KKP, with the addition of Langdon and Tomlinson to the wings , and the usual suspect back in FWD Line, entry into the FWD 50 should be more precise this year. KKP Looks lively on his feet and could be picking up some crumbs. Currently sits at F5.

Crocker Not on the Radar.

Georglades only in a pinch for the bench spot.
around 75 will get $ 150k for Anderson & Bonar

Hickey & Vardy have both been named in tomorrow's night squad according to the article on the AFL website

Yeah while D/R is quite exciting, Xerri is still the better captain loophole so I would prefer Xerri at R3 assuming neither named in Round 1.

I query whether a 19yo would be backup ruck against Max Gawn over seasoned warriors like Hickey/Vardy in Round 1

I got no idea to be honest anymore , every 5 minutes their seems to be a new must have player , and we still have 13 games to go ?

$ 10 mill for 30 spots , people want to start 75+ players.

If Xerri is named Round 1 , I might play him onfield at F6 and keep Comden as well or is that a waste.

I guess Xerri could cover Gawn if he is a late out (surely if he travels he plays) instead of going down to Naitanui.

Too confused to think straight

Yeah that’s what I mean, I’d love to know how many miss this throughout the season being able to move players and trade between positions even without that direct link.
Is it important to start with the link (e.g. MF) or just to have the capability?
Connor Budarick at F6 or M11

I'm thinking to have Comben for the Capt Loop and Xerri a Fwd Cash Cow.
If Xerri plays the whole season, then he could be a good emergency for Grundy or Gawn.

Of the Magpies’ young players, Pendlebury named two who have started to make the transition from rookies into established players.

Isaac Quaynor (Def $261,700) off half-back has been really exciting,” he said.

“These guys now in third, fourth, fifth pre-seasons with leg weights, running, they turn from teenagers into men quickly and it sort of happens before you know it.

Tyler Brown (Mid $123,900)is another one who three weeks ago looked like a little kid and now he looks like a full grown man, he’s got the shoulders and biceps and he’s huge now.

“I’m looking forward to see what all those young guys can deliver this year.”

That might be the best way , hopefully Xerri is actually named for Round 1 and plays well enough to make some $$$.

The look of Collier-Dawkins , McHenry , O'Halloran , Pickett & E Smith holding M7-M11 doesn't inspire a lot of confidence in me at this stage.

Or equivalent at same/similar price.

Time will tell I guess.
