Thinking of taking a punt on Hanners. Hoping he gets onto the field for the first six weeks, then upgrade to premium. With a decent per season,Worth the risk.?
Have gone Cerra at this stage hoping for 85+ to the byes. Is this Achiveable with a role change this year.?
Need to see Doch run around. With double knee ACL I cannot see a full year from him. Confident he will score but not confident he plays more than 15 games this season.?
Oliver and Telly well priced, Lock.
A nice side, with quite a few similarities to mine. The key things that come to mind are:
- You're choosing different midpriced options to most people. If you have strong insight/conviction on these players, I think that's fine. If not, I'd suggest assessing whether you prefer these names to others that are more popular, possibly for a reason. You could, for example, switch names like Hanners, Greenwood and Cerra to some combo of Roberton/Blakely/Petracca/Steven/D Smith. The latter are generally more proven and have fewer headwinds as I see it. Petracca, Smith and Steven have been discussed at some length recently, Roberton's story is fairly well known too, and Blakely is the one I'd pick as a midpricer in defence for Freo given he has a better track record and has actually been close to premium level in DT even before playing a lot of mid time. I think Cerra only has two games above 90 to date - personally I'd like to have seen a few more good scores to be confident in 85+, even with a role change, and in general I think it's best to pick midpricers that (a) have some chance of becoming solid keepers, or (b) are cheap enough that they can make you solid cash (say $150k or close to it) even if they miss keeper level. Cerra is at an awkward price point.
- If you do want a POD for POD's sake (not that I would recommend this necessarily!) names like Treloar, and until recently Bont, look like very solid options that just haven't got much attention.
- You may want to consider having someone Comben at R3, given this is the best spot for VC loopholing, and Cameron obviously plays for the same side as Grundy, which means he's not much use for loopholing Grundy, who also plays a lot of early games. I see you're a Pies fan as well, so maybe you have some insight into Cameron, or are trying to handcuff him to Grundy?
- No Doc is a big POD. I agree that he's far from riskless, but he was the best SC defender in the game before his injuries, so the buffer for him to be a good pick seems large. Personally I'd prioritise getting him.
- You're in a decent spot cash wise and in terms of having some rookies who are above $125k in your side. That should serve you well if more rookies don't show up, and maybe allow you to upgrade a midpricer if they do.
- I think most would argue that Pickett should be on field, although Stephens is also too dear for the bench as I see it. If you trim Hanners (which I would recommend) this would be addressed, if not then maybe assess whether you're a bit deep in the mids.
I'm interested in your midpricer picks in particular ... are they ones you feel fairly sure of, or are you more trying out options?
Good luck!
