Remember that Docherty's history IS pre the 'new' kick in rule, this is an important consideration as we all know the positive effect it has players like Hurn, Rich, etc.

He took the majority of their kick ins that he was near yesterday (and was the target if he wasn't taking them) and worked his way to looking like the Docherty of old the deeper the game went. He may not return to his previous heights, but with the kick in rule, he may get very close.

I was just looking for his range of movements and TOG in that game, he exceeded my expectation on both counts.
Valuable insights - thanks

if the forwards where not so bad I would start doc

but with them being as bad as they are I hardly think he's going to ruinmy season for not starting him

Anyone want to run me through their thoughts on Weller? Anyone bullish on him?
He was one of the players on my preseason watch so I'll add my observations for your reference.

Him and Bowes seems to have swapped roles over the preseason as Weller was playing that pure midfield role for the time he was on the ground which also happens to be just in the 1st half. Missed 2 goals which he would normally kicked and laid a big tackle on Dangerfield which put him flat on his back, I was impressed with that aggression, especially for a preseason game. He was definitely part of their 1st group of mids but they do have a few to rotate through there, with that says, he does possess an outside game which separates him from his peers. Like Houston, his price almost makes him a 'boom or bust' selection. However, in the right role, he has all the tools to be that 100+ player.

I'm reserving my judgement on him until I see their next game, but he hasn't done anything to detraction from my attention. He also looked like he belonged on the big stage from the SOO game, so that's another positive. Whether I decide to go with him will depend largely on how many other 'gutsy' selections I'm forced to make in my FWD line.

I doubt I will start with Doch. I think they may play it careful with him for the first few games which his understandable. I don't think he will damage you by not having him if he is hitting it in the 90-95 range for the first few games although I guess it depends who you have instead of him.

I currently have him in my team, but he's not locked in. Want to see a decent game from him in Marsh 2 first.

His average has increased every year of his career so far, including a 14 pt boost to his average last season to 88. 24 years old, so should be almost in his prime. 75 from 48% game time in Marsh 1 was good, 73 in the State of Origin not too bad when you look at a lot of the others who scored 70-80ish.

May still drop him to Doc and use the extra 50K elsewhere, want to see his next game too before deciding which of the two I run with.

I guess your question was more about his Marsh performance. I thought he looked like the Doch of old in the second half but he didnt get many SC points as it was probably considered “junk time” with the Blues being at least 4-5 goals behind for most of the half.
Thanks also, as his scoring concerned me too. And didnt see game.

Post your comment, I noted he scored 53 fantasy points 2H. Good sign. They do so players are cautious early when they come back from ACL’s.

I've seen worse options and that's not being derogatory, just that I've seen worse options.

His numbers for a first year player were great, just the issue of being a first year player because although there is an expectation to progress, this isn't always the case and some players stagnate or even regress.

Go with your gut if you prefer him over other options, I wouldn't be suprised to see him improve personally, he's alerady shown he can get the numbers, now just needs to show he can do it consistantly.
He's one I considered, but he doesn't fit into my current structure. I thought he probably has some upside, but prefer others.
Likely to be played in the small forward role.
Thanks guys. I was just looking for one outside the box (sideways if it wasn't working early). Thought he might slip into a HB role (+ maybe reduced impact from Houli, Edwards) - but if he's likely to be stuck in FP..... Good point re: 2nd year. Thanks for the feedback. Doc it is I guess for now ?‍♂️

Watching the Richmond collingwood game... at half time it was mentioned about Toranto’s shoulder but then they said something about zac Williams? Did anyone catch it?

No details on severity, and is probably just being managed, but yeah not ideal.
I like Williams ceiling and I had him last year as well, but I do remember having my heart in my mouth whenever he was playing as he seems to pick up a knock in every match (and the dreaded bandaid icon on FanFooty). Might just save myself the worry and pick SicDawg instead... wait what? ?
