I was wondering who the 100% rookie "locks" were in terms of playing in R1?

From my understanding:
Locks for R1
Def: Hill, McAsey, Noble, BZT
Mid: Rowell, Pickett
Ruck:
Fwd: King

Fairly close to locks might also be Davis, Budarick and Anderson
if i went any of those defenders itd b hill or noble better security idk if Mcasey can stay in if hartigan/doedee come back

If it means anything Ash named on the half back flank..

Gut feeling tells me Ash & Green will play most weeks - Players like Reid etc should get pushed out IMO
Feel like GWS have decided to make more effort to play kids by moving around Cogs fwd and Ward back. You'd think they play. Competing with Caldwell whose had a great preseason but didnt deliver in Marsh 1, and Hately who is well overdue.

i think the depth of richmond in the grand final scared them straight into blooding a few more games into those rookies. more so than previous years(hopefully for us) and give them new elements and a lil more flair

You would think that Xerri and Cameron may get some early action. In particular Cameron appears to be a bit of a steal for the Pies from the Swans IMO.
Cameron only plays if one of Cox or Mihocek (or Grundy) don't play. The likelihood of that happening early without an injury to one of them is pretty low.

For mine this is looking like a season where the initial wave of bench rookie cash gen will be smaller and there might be a bigger second or third wave, with a lot of very likely looking types who might not immediately get a game straight away on the radar.

Early success may very well depend on hitting the mark on as many value premos as possible and navigating the overpriced premo minefield, leaving more cash for potentially productive MP's and rookies even if the asking price is a little higher on them.

From an outside observer, it looks like it will comes down to this weekend re Cameron v Cox?

As a Collingwood supporter I'd be shocked if Cox wasn't named round 1, unless it's deemed that he isn't good to go fitness-wise.

Even in that situation Cameron's job security would be low because Cox is still best 22 for us at the moment.

The one thing in Cameron's favour is Reid getting another lowwr-leg niggle, which removes one obstacle from his path to an AFL debut in the black and white.

Cox pisses me off. For every one good game you get 3 ****e ones. Yes he can take a grab but he can also ground every ball also which at times also isn't a bad thing. Pies need reliability and consistency there I think, will be interesting. Everyone's caught up still in the fairy tale of a tall American soccer player with handy social media skills but one day we'll start judging him on his actually AFL ability.
I think the Pies will still go in with Cox even if Cameron kills it again this week but I still think he'll get games early in the season because I'm not confident Cox takes his game to another level.

Good point. Also, history says GWS will bomb this year due ti being smashed in GF, Adelaide the last to follow this trend. Only way to beat this is introduce players that were not in the GF, rookies and those who were injured. Think GWS bucks this trend.

Greaves could really hurt me, Hawthorn are not a team who typically give young rookies a prolonged run at it but people are saying Greaves is replacing Imprey while he is injured (if this is true) I can understand why they would need someone to fill that role, a saw a few Hawks games last year and thought that Impreys run off of HB/up the wing was very underrated by non Hawks fans, I will probably have to select him if named R1.

Just listed all the sub $250k options playing this week, close to 50 if not more. Amazing how many ruck options are playing, 9 in total under $250k and most rookie base price.
how many of those 50 would you confident that a) had any decent JS or b) could punch out a 60+ in a time of need

perhaps this weekend all will be revealed.

Cameron should play RD1. Pies do need that other tall forward option. Reid is Cooked might get 6-8 games out of him this year??? and Cox well he should be worried. Maybe it motivates cox to better performance. Still believe the Pies have room for Both.
