Hey Rowsus. Back again for some words of wisdom! I have posted this in the trade thread.....(sorry, I couldn't change the font colour on the iPad).

Hi all. In need of some advice to give me the best chance of winning this week and progressing to my first GF.

I have 1 trade and $235K in the bank. The current match ups with my opponent are (my players listed first):

Def

Shaw, Dixon (Webster) VS Ibbotson, Staker (I have him fwd), Pittard
*my opponent will have a donut in defence with Ibbotson (we both have Heppell)

Mid

Cotchin, Jack, JPK, Priddis (K Martin) VS Jelwood, Barlow, Fyfe, O'Meara (Wines)
*both have Mitchell

Ruck

Maric, (Grundy, Currie) VS Jacobs (Blicavs, Nicholls)

Fwd

Rocky, Pav (Staker, Rowe) VS Stokes, Tippett (R Henderson, Cordy)

We will both be copping a donut in defence and I am happy not to trade if I think I can beat him in the other areas. He has no trades left.

Last week I was lucky enough to be able to see both Grundy's and Priddis's scores and did a bit of shuffling to avoid using my last trade. I took Grundy's 93 and switched Cox forward, therefore benching JJK (worked well). I also took Priddis's 88 over trading Mitchell.

I am wondering what similar options I have this week. It's not looking as good as last week as the Pies and Eagles play tonight. I am also wondering if I should play it safe and field the same players - i.e. play JJK. Or do I take a risk and play Grundy on field and move Cox forward again, therefore having JJK and Staker on the bench.

Obviously my goal is to win this week, but if I can do that and still hold onto my last trade that would be even better!

Any help is much appreciated. My team link is provided. Cheers in advance!
Hi Rowsus. I've been doing some thinking since posting this. Thought I might go Cox and Maric in ruck with Grundy as emergency (I can loophole him with Maric using Currie). I will also put the emergency on JJK and put Rowe on field. If JJK stinks it up I'll put Staker on for Rowe.

Still not sure what to do about Heppell though. Do I leave it until Sunday and hope I don't need to trade?

Hi Bobbie,
that seems like the sensible plan. I would hold your trade until Saturday night, then assess. Fortunately, the best option (R Murphy) plays late. Hopefully your opponent has played their Captain before Saturday night, and you can assess if the trade is necessary. I would say one thing, err on the side of caution! Last week on Saturday night I was projected to beat Jay by a little over 100, and with no late outs, I lost! I think you have to look at it very closely, and if you think you are any chance at all of losing, then pull the trigger!
Good luck, I hope you get Captain loophole right, that's always the best start!
(Fyfe's 78 as Captain last week cooked me! I was too smart by half!) :)

Hi Maken.
Shaw's an interesting one, and the decision you make, and how he performs could determine your match.
He's due for a decent game, and usually does ok against WCE. Having said that, tonight's forecast has me worried about 2 things. Wet and windy football usually means a low scoring game. Low scoring games tend to throw up SC scores without the high Peaks. You don't see many 150+ scores in low scoring games, the higher scores are lower (if that makes sense) and there is a more even spread of SC scores. Also, Shaw's disposal can be a bit ordinary sometimes. Wet and windy conditions might only make it worse!
I think I'd be inclined to risk him, and let your opponent have him!
So what to do with all that cash, and 2 holes in the back line?
If you're going to go 2 straight Def swaps, I'd go:
Hartlett/Clisby --> Murphy R, Birchall
Keep Heppell, he's at least some chance, even if it is 1% to play next week, where as the other 2 are 0%.
If you don't want to go that path, then it might be worth considering:
North might have trouble containing Roughead, without SD Thompson and Grima.
Maybe you could go - Clisby out, Staker up, Roughead in. This gives you the opportunity to assess on Saturday night if you should pull the trigger on Saturday night, and go Hartlett ---> Murphy. You might be some chance to be able to hold the trade for next week, just in case!
Don't forget to loophole Grundy and Cloke.
Good luck :)

Cheers for that. I agree re the captain loophole. I just wish I knew my opponent's plans!! At yhe moment I have Pendles as VC and Gaz as C. I would rather the VC on Gaz but the fixture doesn't work in my favour.

Thank you so much for the in depth advice!

I'm playing prelims mainly due to your advice and the other people on this forum.

Good luck to everyone who's still going for glory!

Hey Deeman1,
it looks like your biggest problem is having to play Brown at D6. Even though he has Melbourne and WCE, he seems to have the greatest potential to let you down. Trading Heppell to Pearce at least gives you the opportunity to loophole a couple of average performers, in the hope of getting a good score between them. I think that's the direction I'd be heading.
Good luck :)
Cheers Rowsus.

Much appreciated.

Am I able to loophole Grundy? Cox is playing tonight aswell..

Minson, Cox (Grundy(e), Osborn)

If I put Osborn on for Cox, then I won't be able to bring Cox on, correct?

No you can't loophole your Ruck. Sorry. I should double check things, even when I'm rushing a bit! *blush*

Got a question for you Rowsus, have 1 trade left after bringing in Robert "Rascal" Murphy for Hartlett, should I loophole my midfield by bringing in the not-playing Prudden for Viney? Means I can choose between Josh Kennedy's score vs the Cats or another midfielder, or should I just trade in a forward/midfielder like Bartel or Christensen. On projections I'm about 45 points ahead of my opponent in my prelim final.

By the sounds of it you have a trade and cash. I think I'd wait, and see if you can avoid using the trade, in case you need it next week. If you look like you could lose, then you might have to create something this week, but I'd assess it on Saturday night, before those 2 games, and again on Sunday morning.
Good luck :)

Hey Rowsus!
Against bluedream in the finals this week, i will have a donut and he won't. What should I do? Should I just treat as any normal round, or should I pick some left field choices as captain

You don't need any help this week Prochard, you outscored me last week and finished higher on the ladder.

Good luck to you but don't think you will need it.

RAMP's top 6 scorers this week are: (SC Gold projected in brackets)
147 Selwood J (138)
134 Rockliff (120)
131 Barlow (104)
131 Swan (119)
128 Pendlebury (117)
126 Ablett (112)
You'd have to say RAMP was pretty successful in it's Captain's predictions last week. It's top 2 predicted scorers coming to the party, with Selwood scoring 131 and Rockliff 153!
So even though no one asked, I thought I'd give you RAMP's top predictions this week, for those that might want to use them as a Captains guide. SC Gold prediction in brackets.

Selwood J 161 (140)
Johnson S 131 (110)
Pendlebury 129 (112)
Minson 128 (118)
Swan 128 (125)
Griffen 123 (108)
Ablett 120 (95)

There hasn't been too many times RAMP has predicted someone to go over 150. The times that it has, the player has scored well (even very well!), but they have never broken that 150+ prediction.

I will be very happy if all of the above players hit those scores (except for Griffen who hopefully is below average).

Hey Rowsus,

Was just wondering who are now the biggest down hill skiers (Herman, Stenmark etc lol) of say the past 2 years now. With Stevie J performing well against a few top sides this year i assume he will move down in the pecking order.

Thanks in advance
