Thanks for your reply, lots to think about!
In a nutshell, we don't know what will happen in the future, so understandably unsure, like has McGrath got that x-factor that (
I think) ESS needs in their midfield.
You mentioned that ESS runs pretty deep through the centre bounce, am I correct in thinking that none of the last year's midfielders were
really good in there, so that is why McGrath has this new role
RE: ...…..
Stringer (who just attends approx 25-35% CB's but doesn't play midfield)…... an example of why I don't think ESS have enough good Mids.
ESS said McGrath is set to move to
full-time inside midfielder, they must have some confidence in him to do well in there, to make such a statement (
can't remember where I read that, it's in my notes, hoping it is not the media sensationalising?)
Also my notes said that in previous years he didn't have a 'man's body', obviously he has now, to be thrown full time inside Mid.
I didn't see the Marsh games, but according to his SC scoring he did well in those games, so maybe he can hold down his new role all year.
Like with a lot of players, we can find heaps of good reasons to get excited to start a player, but all it takes is one, or two reasons, to not start a player. I'm looking for that one good reason not to take a chance on McGrath to be a worthwhile selection, either as a good upgrader, or a M8 Keeper.
