New coach who has said they want to extend Fyfe's career by playing him more forward. Plus 4-5 mid choices to be made and there are clear stand outs. Also he is fully priced. All reasons people are staying away.
Do we really believe this though? Freo don't have any mature body midfielders, Fyfe I expect will play a large part in the midfield and rest forward. they may save some time on Fyfes playing career doing that but it'll certainly shorten Brayshaws and Cerras if they're left to lead the midfield.

im starting macrae, neale, fyfe, titch

dont trust cripps, jelly screwed me over so many times
Feel the same way about J. Kelly, been on that roller coaster too. Cripps is interesting, really want to take him,had him last couple of years, but need cash elsewhere. Have the same as you bar Titch, banking on a slower start(but we know that probably won’t happen)
Got Oliver instead, but not overly confident, but considering J Kelly and Oliver both have a max av of 113 in their careers, had to save some cash.

True or not it is enough to help me decide between him and Macrae/Neale.

Acres, Walter maybe swapping with Fyfe, Mundy, Blakely all to rotate with them

Almost everyone on SCS seems to be sleeping on Fyfe. 650k with a poor history of games played so there is definitely merit to it. However it's a guessing game i'm not too keen on being part of. What if his injury doesn't come until after his bye? It's a weekly prospect of leaving a guy out averaging 120 vs not trading him in for the inevitable 2 week injury he cops. His draw the first 5 weeks is nearly as good as it can get, only vsing 1 top 8 team from last year in Essendon. Plays GC rd 4 who he has never gone below 116 against in his 7 games against and then North in rd 5 who he averages 125 against in over 14 match ups. Will likely need to lock in an injury trade for him but with 40% ownership its a risk im willing to take at this stage.
Yes, yes and yes.

After I saw his draw I put him in thinking he was somewhat unique going by teams posted here. Unfortunately not but oh well. I prefer him over Dunkley and will never trust Jelly.

Would it be insane not to start any midfielders over 600k? I quite like a few of the 500s options upside (for eg Yeo, Coniglio, Oliver, McLuggage), feel like a couple of the 600+ brigade always regress early and like everyone is like to save money _somewhere_

Will it cost me too many points in the first 6 weeks? Is it just too high risk if I end up spending the savings on mid pricers? Will my cash gen be stuffed by being a couple of 120k rookies short when/if they show up? Will I ever be able to afford Mcrae and Kelly?

If you were to only start 4 of Macrae , Cripps , J Kelly , Dunkley & the Bont who would you leave out ?
Likely controversial but it would be Dunkley or Macrae for mine, mostly due to anticipation of a fast start from the other three while they are fit and coming off an uninterrupted pre-season.

I'd be backing in a fit Cripps, Kelly and Bont to get off to a fast start and then it's a coin flip from there, because both Dunkely and Macrae will almost certainly go 120+ the whole way through - would probably come down to who I want to pair up with Bont (and can fit into the salary cap more easily).

You should be aiming for the "perfect" team. You won't get there, but that should be the aim.

That means striving for a final midfield of Macrae, Cripps, Danger, Bont, Titch, Kelly, Fyfe & Dunkley - or whatever the final combo might be.

It's too hard to go from a stack of 500k players to a final team of uber-premos.

You'll end up with a bunch of players averaging 100-105 and lose out to people with the full gamut. You need to start with a few players you want in your final team, and trade to the rest....

Something to consider, but Bont will probably have to deal with 2 tags in his first 3 games. Curnow Round 2 and de Boer Round 3. If you also have Oliver (will cop the de Boer tag in Round 2 most likely, Steele tag Round 4?) and Dangerfield (de Boer in Round 1) it could get you off to a slow start with your premium mids.

Interesting to think about ... but I also think that you need to take the 6-6-6 rule change into consideration ....
- I say this because taggers might only be somewhat more effective in general play rather than at CBA's

- If Bont has an increased MID role this year and has more CBA's .... might depend on the effectiveness of English ..
- Oliver is a clearance handball specialist to me but doesn't do enough in general play ... still got Gawn shoving it down his throat though ...
- Paddy can play in any position and still go well .... just don't like all the attached "drama's" ... and they still haven't got a dominant ruckman yet ...

Just food for thought ...

True, but de Boer destroyed all of them last year. I know I got a rude shock when I saw that 3 of my premium mids had GWS in the first 3 weeks.

If one is picking premium mid players to be keepers, then it doesn't matter when they are tagged in the season.
I don't see the players being tagged early in the season as that relevant, more important is how often they will be tagged, by good taggers, during the whole season.
