Strategy if season goes ahead
AFL - think they will run games without fans in next month (due to being socially responsible). Mindful it is an outside sport, although plenty of contact.
If a player does get it, not sure how they manage it. quarantine them for 2 weeks. what happens if it spreads.
Currently teams are running processes such as separation from other club teams (VFL etc), no shaking hands, no autographs, fans banned from training and other programs to minimise getting it.
Not sure if the player assoc has a view yet.
There seems to be a lack of data on impact on young people. Whilst no/minimal chance of mortality, what is the % that moves from a cold to pneumonia for someone 20-30 years old. If the latter is above a few %, expect they cancel the early part of the season.
If they come out with a policy to play on that is supported by the AFL and if going for an overall rank, a mid price spread team could do well this year, to cover those out when they happen.
Our benefit is we are currently coming off summer, flu impact low, hospitals not yet overwhelmed, which may see the season go ahead. We are also past peak tourism season. Singapore has contained it but they are unique. just some thoughts. I Will hold back all other views.
